jason:____________ I'm a fan of the BPS myself. My home defense shotgun is a BPS (...synthetic stock, not nearly as pretty as yours...) with a nordic components xtra length magazine tube on it. They are an excellent shotgun. Many of my old skeet and trap shooting buddies started out with the BPS. This may stir up a bit of a hornet's nest among fellow shotgunners; but i think the BPS is, in fact, the best designed pump shotgun out there; especially for the money. It has bottom ejection ALA Ithaca model 37 fame; it has dual operating rods (...the great winchester model 12 has one...), it has a tang mounted safety (...which i like a lot....), and they are the smoothest action out there. Ya simply cant beat them for design, action smoothness, and handling (...if they fit you....). All this praise is comming from a "shotgun snob". I love and collect winchester model 97's and model 12's; as well as the great Ithaca model 37. We've shot 'em all. The BPS is the best iteration of the pump shotgun--- old or new.... Period. Enjoy! leroy

atlas:__________ Glad you are still ok. Sorry for the stuff bein scrapped; but it can always be replaced. Wuz thinkin about this a bit. Have you took a look at the bolt? I wonder what the lugs look like. Ya may want to clean the bolt up real good and get your magnifying glass out and take a real good look at the bolt under a bright light. I would look for stretches, deformities, dings, and cracks; etc. If ya have some buddies in the nondestructive testing business, ya might want to MT (...magnetic particle test...) or PT (....dye penetrant test...) the lug area. The lugs contained the "overload" and bullet crash within the barrel. Pressures had to be pretty high until the lugs unlatched. leroy

Mike:_____________ By all means; appropriate the use the ".....Fly s***t..." line in good health. I stole it from a delightful, crusty old man i worked for many years ago. The great Wallace K Burner. A great old character full of colorful sayins and a great grasp of reality. He is long gone on. I'm sure he is smilin down on those who remember his colorful exhortations. He would heartily approve. leroy

Iv'e read this thread with great interest. Some things to think about: Do any of you believe that Nobama is a greater friend to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights than any candidate that is running against him? Do you believe that Nobama will appoint Constitutionalist justices to any court; especially the Supreme Court? For you mizers; have ya taken a look at how much more or less your dollar will buy today vs a few years ago (....that's if ya have any dollars....). For ya lookin for work in most any industry that pays pretty well (....mining, heavy manufacturing, transportation, etc....); how is the business doin that ya work for? ... better, worse?.... . For ya that are lookin for a job; hows the job market?? Lots to choose from???.... The fact is that ya have two choices on the ballot in november; Nobama and Romney. Ya need to make up your mind who ya are gonna vote for. I already have. All this baloney and grousing about the canditate positions is simply "....pickin the fly s***t out of the pepper...". If ya like keeping the freedoms ya have; you know what to do. If ya like authoritarianism and bein poor(er); ya know what to do. Choose wisely. leroy

D:_____________ We did the same thing a couple of years ago. One of the guys here on the forum pointed us to the "Brownells AR How To" information on the brownells web site. I printed off the instructions and had a lower done in 45 minutes. It's no problem; and you'll enjoy it. The fun is huntin out all the goodies ya want to use. Have fun ! leroy

I aint sure either. He may be a "rehabilitated druggie". He does move a bit slow. I found this on Moonbattery Blog (...i think...) or Ace of Spades HQ. I thought the whole thing wuz hilarious. This guy may be an "ex-dopehead"; but he is funny (...at least to my somewhat warped sense of humor...). leroy -

I will buy part of what you are sayin with a few caviats. I believe that the original intent of the Constitution was, indeed, to protect "criminals". All the signers of the Declaration of Independence were, in fact criminals under British Crown law. Many of those original signers also signed the Constitution. If ya use the logic that the Constitution is not a "tool to protect criminals"; all the state has to do to shut people up is to delcare them criminals. The legal record is full of cases where the federal court ruled that "constitutional rights" of convicted fellons were violated. Some of the rulings have been pretty heinous. As to the issue of "....freedom of speech".... I do, in fact, believe that "freedom of speech" in pretty much alive and well outside the confines of the presently constituted executive branch of government. The courts have been doin a good job lately in this respect. The reason they are is, i think, due to all the opportunities they are gettin to rule on it due to the use of the (IN) Justice Department and other arms of government to try to muzzle free speech. The executive branch of government has long muzzled free speech rights to civilian employees and uniformed service members as a condition of employment. Take a look at Jonnin's post above. As to the "convicted criminal/violation of parole thing"; I aint excusing any of this guy's criminal actions. All that bein said; i do not believe the actions of the (IN) Justice Department in this particular case are anything other than a case of opportunistic political shilling in a pathetic attempt to buy some credibility with our enemies in the "ancient" world, and nothing else. It's opportunism for imagined diplomatic gain and the use of state power against a citizen for no other than a political reason; all draped in a detail of a "parole violation" made up by some procecutor and agreed to by a judge. It's usin the law as a tool to spank an individual to score political points with people who hate us to begin with. The point of this discussion aint this guy's previous felonious actions, and it aint whether he violated any conditions of his parole. The point is that the government is using a detail to score political points with our enemies and threaten anyone else who might think about doing somethin similar (...think Terry Jones the Koran burner here along with anyone else who publically questions the tennants or fathers of islam (...or anything else that happens to not be politically correct to the presently constituted regieme at the moment...)....). Their message to any potential dissidents to the "party line" is that ...."ya better be squeaky clean; "....cause we're goinna give you the ole anal exam and spank ya if we can"..; using any means necessary to do so. That is the message that is being sent to you, me, and anyone else the state doesnt happen to agree with. It is simply shilling to the "ancient ones" who like this "no freedom of speech" stuff by the presently constituted executive branch of government while trampling on the First Amendment. Look at the words of Cordell Hull (...a democrat serving a democrat president....) to the German government and weigh them against the (IN) Justice department's actions in this particular case and the Nobama speech to the UN the other day. Its like an alternate universe. Hull didn't like the jews; but he told the German Consulate that the "differences were irreconclable: Compare Hull's actions to Hillary's and nobama's the other day. The nobamaites could care less about mine or your rights or the Constitution. It's all about the opportunity to shill in a pathetic attempt to put a bit of a lid on what's goin on in the muslum lands; not due to any "important legal issues" this guy may have ignored and have been convicted of. Dont be drug off into the bushes by the argument that justice is being done here. This is just another case of injustice perpetrated by a bunch of opportunists under the cover of law. leroy

Check this out when ya get the time: http://hotair.com/ar...tion-violation/ Is it just me; or does anyone else think there could just possibly be a link between the (IN) Justice Department's actions here and the recent calls by those staunch defenders of free speech in the muslum community and in the middle east (...think the prez. of Egypt here...) regarding "....watchin your tongue in regards to any derrogatory comments or opinions RE: "....The Prophet of Islam....".. Amadinejahd (...or whatever his name is....), the grand iatola (...whoever he is....) and these other ancient ones have to be laughin their collective posteriors off over this political shilling by the nobamaites for favor with these barbarians; all at the expense of the First Amendment. While ya are in a reading mood; read this account of what Cordell Hull (....a real democrat and fellow tennesseean....) had to say about free speech in a similar situation: http://www.redstate....ut-free-speech/ . The above issue alone are reason enough for anyone, regardless of party affiliation, race, creed, color, or sexual orientation to vote this bunch of statist clowns out. I doubt the ole boy that's about to get his bail revolked would be havin it revolked if he hadnt stirred up this "free speech" hornets nest. This move by the (IN) Justice Department is high handed use of political power and the resources of the state to "punish" those the state wishes to punish; and to send a message to"....watch your tongue...". These clowns are, in fact, seeking to muzzle free speech to curry favor with a bunch of ancient barbarians. The real loosers in this deal are those of us who actually believe in the principles on which this country wus founded. Remember, there is an election in novermber; vote early and often. Whaddya think? curious leroy the infidel

Used to all the time. Too gimped to do much anymore. When ya start fly fishing; it makes all the other types of fishin look pretty lame. When ya get real stirred up and aint around the trout streams; try fishin for bluegill with top water flies on a light rod. There aint anything greater; and ya can do it without takin a trip to the mountains. Enjoy!!! leroy

"Been watchin the drift of this thread RE: The causes of the "gang problem". I think most everyone has fixated on what the gangs do and has maybee overlooked what causes them to begin with. It aint suprizing to me that lots of younger folks may not have thought of what i believe is the main problem for the "gang thing" because its been goin on so long. In my view, the gang problem is far more due to the "Matrarical society" in the poor community (....read that absentee dads; one parent family, if a family at all....). The fact is that when the great LBJ declared "War on Poverty"; he inadverdantly declared war on poor workin men. In the early 1900's (....about 1908, i think....); ninety six percent of black families had both parents at home; and they were republicans by the way (...no extra charge for that....) because of the high regard for that greatest republican of 'em all, Abraham Lincon. Today, the out of wedlock figure in the black community is about 80% or so; with the white community not far behind. When ya tell poor women they dont need men and give them money for it ALA the welfare state you get what ya get. This has goin on since the early sixties. Regardless of what any "expert" says; kids (...especially boys...) need a father figure. If there aint one at home; they will find one on the street. VIOLA!!!: The gang thing starts. They need money, they dont know (...or maybee dont care....) about honest work; VIOLA!!! Crime. Someone tries to call them down or invade their turf. The shootin begins. The gang problem used to be "across the track" so no one cared (....except those livin "across the track"....). When you have the legal enterprise that coddles these kids, the "community organizers" who run local government in Chattanooga and other places as well, and the ratty economy we have; the "across the track" thing spreads out. Its spreading in Knoxville and Chattanooga. I'm sure its spreading other places as well. leroy

What will be Obama's 'October Surprise'?
leroy replied to 1gewehr's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
GREAT ANSWER BELOW!!! Couldnt let this one go. I think Mike's answer on "who wuz worst" is right. It precipitated the American Revolution. Now to Link's opinion RE: "...the worst president..." with the caveat "....in modern times...". I firmly believe that George W. Bush was made to be the "....worst president in modern times..." by several things. Some manufactured and some real. The "manufactured" one is the "....he wuz the dummest president ever..." mantra delivered by the media. The "real ones" are as follows: 1. GWB was sabatoged from the get-go by career bureaucrats who did not agree with his policies; and he simply would not neutralize them. They were principally in the CIA and in the State Departments. Their defiant actions made him look foolish and weak. 2. GWB said that Iraq would not be like Viet Nam. It wuz. The war ended pretty quck; but the occupation sucked; and still does. This wuz preceived by real people as a failing and spun continuously by a hostile press as a "needless war" we were loosing. Again, damaging GWB's stature and reputation. 3. GWB would not answer his critics in the media and in the Demorat party ALA Reagan. You simply cannot do this. The dems and the press finally won this battle. 4. GWB wuz not a real conservative, fiscal or otherwise. He wuz (...and is...) a "big govenment republican ALA "New Deal" Republican via the "compassionate conservative" monaker (...whatever that is....I think it is "New Deal" Democrat lite....). Havin said all that; i dont think he wuz the worst president in modern times; just the most villified and beat up. My vote for the worst (...up until now....) is Jimmy Carter. Carter wuz (...and is....) consistently wrong on every issue he chooses to weigh in on. He is no friend of freedom; and loves cozying up to any dictator; from the Banna Republics to Iran. He is anti American and anti Israel. Completely anti democratic. Carter wuz elected for one reason and one reason only. Gerald Ford (...the Republican candidate...) pardoned Richard Nixon. That sent the message to the american people that the repbulicans believed that some people (....Nixon....) were above the law. They were offended by that; and they should have been. That is the only thing that elected Jimmy Carter. Carter soon screwed up everything and lost to Reagan in a landslide. Everything Carter touched turned to manure (...or worse...). Carter cultivated the image of a "southern conservative democrat" and a "political outsider"; but he simply wasnt. Carter believed (...and still does...) in the "Citizen of the World" baloney ALA the Woodrow Wilson League of Nations. All the "citizen of the world" baloney is simply a ruling class, autocratic, "we are the smartest people in the room" world view that postulates that citizens are mindless rabble to be guided like children and the big decisions should be left to the "best and brightest"; namely them. Said another way, delightful rustics should not be given the task of actually affecting the outcome of the affairs of state. That should be left to the "enlightented" ones; namely the polititians. I think that to this day, Carter is a bitter, devisive, meddling old coot who hates the USA and courts any politico, dictator, or strong man (....foreign or domestic...) who shares his silly notons of being the "best and brightest". He has meddled in and opposed more genuine American policy than any other ex-presidental figure in modern times. Carter has continuously praised and coddled our enemies and hurt our friends more than any previous ex president. Carter is my pick (...up to now...) for the "worst ever". GWB aint close. I will grant that he wuz pretty ratty; all things considered. All that bein said; i believe that Nobama will take his place in a few months. leroy -

Richard:_____________ I didnt intend to stir up a hornet's nest or offend sensibilities with the first part of the post; it was an attempt at humor. Havin said that; the second part of the post is why i dont believe what some here believe they would like to do cannot be done. I'm in agreement with your opinions of what this bunch of would be dictators and autocrats would do if they could; i simply dont believe they can. Here are some details of why i think they cant do what they dream of; and it contains a bit of a history lesson. A variation on the nobama dream scheme of declaring martial law and enforcment via a national police force in the good ole USA was tried by the feds (...and some state governments...) in the union unrest strired up by the "Reds" and the "One Big Union" bunch from about the time of the 1890's thru the 1920's here in the usa when socialism was in vogue. The trouble started in the coal fields of West Virginia with the "mine wars" and spread out to the western states (...think west coast and colorado fuel and iron here...). The individual states and sometimes the federal government stepped in and declared martial law in the places where the unrest was the hottest; especially in West Virginia in the Cabin Creek and Paint Creek territories. Folks were, indeed, interred, and sentenced to prison without benefit of a "real trial" by military tribunal; including that noted radical union organizer "Mother Jones". Every one of these sentences were later reversed by none other than the Supreme Court of the United States. The court ruled that military sentences could not be handed down without proper trial in the state courts (...think "Due Process" here....). They further stated in general terms that "military tribunals" could not be convened and do their arbitrary sentencing as long as the local and state courts were functioning. They were functioning in this case. Said another way, the government just couldnt declare martial law and do away with the local and state courts. Another point to remember, is that the state government is the principal keeper of the peace in each state; not the federal government. The state government has to ask the fed in. I'm sure there are those who will opine that the Patriot Act allows for a "swift federal acton" in time of chaos (...whatever that is....). My guess is that the only place this can work out is in the big inner city locations with blue state governors and blue state mayors. I simply dont see this kind of thing happening where people who believe liberty live. I dont necessarily like our congressmen nor our present governor; but i simply dont see them goin along with any of this "swift federal action" stuff. It also appears that the Federal Appleals Court aint buyin this Patriot Act bunk either.... . A major portion of the "....were gonna hold 'em without trial or without charges 'cause they are suspected terrorists who happen to be american citzens..." provision wuz struck down the other day; and it appears that the "IN"Justice Department aint goinna appeal the decision. They knew it was unconstitutional to begin with. Do i believe that watchin what the government does and being suspicious of it is a good thing? You bet. They know we are watchin; and that's a good thing. Do i believe that opining on in in a forum like the TGO Forum is a good thing? You bet!!! Hope this asuages a bit of indignation. leroy

They need this ammo to practice with in the secret war games they are staging to inter us all into the FEMA Camps after the Nobama election riots of late 2012 and early 2013. They need the practice. After all, it took two NY policemen, 15 to 17 shots, and 9 wounded passerbys to get one bad guy in new york the other day. They will confiscate the next one billion rounds of ammo right after the election. I would recommend checking to see if they have bought a billion gallons of aviation fuel for the FEMA black helicopters. .....looney leroy opining from the supersecret bunker deep in the hills of east tennessee. .... My real advice; quit worrying about this. We are an armed society. Who is gonna come and take your guns? More importantly, who is gonna suspend the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the State and Federal courts??? Who is gonna run over all the individual state governments and local police and sheriff departments to do all this bad stuff??? Food for thought. leroy

Revealed: inside story of US envoy's assassination
leroy replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The embasy wuz sold out by the Lybian "Guards". That's why every "real" soverign nation (...except us...) uses their own military to protect their foreign embassy grounds. All that being said; our current crop of politicos are too "smart" and too "reasonable" to do what other nations do regularly. The blame for this killin lies squarely on the hands of Hillary and her buddies in the State Department. They evidently made the decision to use the Lybian "Guards". When the US Embassy in Iran was taken over by the Kohmeni-ites in the 70's; the urban legend is that the original demonstrators marched and intended to take over the Russian Embassy as well as the American Embassy. The Russian Soldiers evidently racked their AK's and told the demonstrators to "...Get off the Motherland...". They did. The crowd evidently believed the Russian embassy guards. The demonstrators then went down to the US Embassy. The rest is the Carter 444 day thing ended by Reagan. RE: The "selling out" by home country guards. This is goin on everywhere with disastrous consequences for our servicemen and servicewomen. Look at what's happening in Afganistan and Iraq. The most dangerous group of "intellectuals" in the middle east is the current crop of politicos and career diplomats running our middle east policy. That is exactly why we should bring everyone home and let these ancient world idiots finish eachother off. We will never make any headway with the ancient world radical muslum zealots until we kill them until they want peace more than they want to fight us. We need to make them bleed on a massive scale. We simply refuse shed that kind of blood. Anyone who believes that we can "democratize" the ancient world zealots who have no notion of democracy nor any disposition toward it is either unbelievably arrogant, Providentially blinded, or simply intellectually dishonest. leroy -
Bring the troops home, let these idiots kill eachother. Smedley Butler was right; "....War is a Racket....". It's a bit dated, but i recommend that everyone who wonders what is goin on in the middle east (...or anywhere else we have a "strategic interest" [...what ever that is....]...) needs to read Butler's book. "War is a Racket". He wuz right. Link here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_15?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=war+is+a+racket+smedley+butler&sprefix=war+is+a+racket%2Cstripbooks%2C409 .. It took me a long time to come to this conclusion; but Butler was right. leroy

leroy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This whole thing could have been avoided. If ya do a search here on TGO (...and on line...), ya should find out more opinions about this incident than ya ever wanted to know. The news media along with everyone else needs to leave Rocky and Leon Houston alone. We do know that two people are dead, and that these guys have been tried three times and found not guilty. We also know that the State of Tennessee decided not to try to retry them. That should be enough for all of us. These are dangerous men and everyone (...including the news media, who tired to railroad them...) would do well to avoid a conflict with them. I dont know that these guys are crazy. I do know they wont be put upon. I also know that they need to be left alone. leroy
