1. I cant stand Stupetta or Kerry either. The military has been screwed over just like the citizenry. Kerry or any of these other sons (....and daughters...) of satan would be no better nor no worse. Havin said all that; think of the most offensive, disgusting character ya can (....outside of nobama, that is....).... I like Lewis Farrakahn or Jeremiah Wright. How about that jackass that heads up CAIR or the great loud mouthed harpy Debbie Wasserman Schultz?. Any other ideas??? wonderin leroy
2. Interesting stuff!! Thanks for posting it. leroy

5. I can assure you that there was cheating in pennsylvania, ohio, and florida. The trick is to look for a couple of percentage points difference, max. The pennsylvania state court ruling on the voter id law plus the usual thuggery in philadelphia tilted pennsylvania. Ohio wuz probably the usual union rat thing. Florida. You know the answer to that. Interesting read on state voting requirements here: http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/State_by_State_Voter_ID_Laws. Take a look at the precentages here: http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/results/president leroy
6. Shane: The ORSA facility has a world class 1000 yard range which hosts shooting matches all the time. The place is manicured and is kept in great shape all the time. They host high power and black powder long range matches. It is, indeed, a world class range. It has a 300 yard (...i think...) covered benchrest range with manicured grounds. A small bore shooting rangethat ooks great. An indoor pistol range. A trap range and a stupendously active trap shooting population. A great action pistol range which is used every week; along with a very active SAS shooting club. They also have a plinking range. That's a bunch of stuff. It is worth twice the $120/year. leroy
7. Thanks to all our veterans. God bless you all. With the greatest of respect and admiration. leroy
8. Pretty much like Garfua and OhShoot said. Shook the house pretty good. Ya could also hear the rumble. I thought it was some sort of ground wave (....turns out it was...) from a big explosion. Went outside to look for structural damage and to look for any signs of an explosion. The rumble was pretty loud. leroy
9. I love this great observation from Lester:
....Just wild guessing, maybe the 3 million missing R's, the dog don't like the dog food? Either didn't like the R candidates or didn't expect that the R candidates had enough odds of improving anything, to bother wasting time and gas money going to vote?....
I think it's dead on. The "R" brand tasted bad to some of us old dogs. Keep up the good work!! leroy
10. Here's some interesting reading on this subject: http://moonbattery.com/?p=20808 I think it's dead on target. leroy
11. Greg's question is a fair one. Lots of people used to (....and may still ....) believe in their heart of hearts that ".... there aint a nickle's difference between either political party...". Thinking that, they are turned off by elections. They think that either way they will get bushwhacked and mistreated, and some son of satan will win and continue to do what they all have done before them, without much real change happening. I think that used to be true. The truth, to me at least, is that while lots of their assumption is true; there are bunches of other even more troubling factors that have entered politics in the last few years that may have escaped their casual view of the political scene. They manifest themselves as not only the setting of fiscal policies; but the meddling in, and the outright attempts of the elimination long held notions about the Bill of Rights, the imposition of moral values (....or the lack thereof; depending on your view....) and a "scorched earth" policy against political enemies and those who dont see things the way the winners see them ALA the re-emergence of the old Radical Republican Reconstruction policies after the Civil War. This "scorched earth" policy touches both individual citizens and businesses. Something ive never seen before. In the old days, there were simply "winners and loosers". The "winners" were rewarded with "favors" and prospered; and the "loosers" just kept on doing what they needed to do, without being mistreated or criminalized. Now, the "loosers" are persecuted by the alphabet arms of government (...NLRB, EPA, etc...). Some of them are also being pushed around and intimidated by others (...IRS, FBI, etc....). Ala, "Chicago Style Politics". We are morphing into a "Bananna Republic" winner take all government. That is very troubling. Up until about the seventies; the big difference between the parties was the issue of fiscal issues. The demorats believed in government meddling in everything and "big spending." The republicans were fat cat capitalists who believed General Bullmose business practices and fiscal policies were best. The sixties happened and the political parties started meddlin in social issues. "Entitlements" were establshed and government moved into the arena of long held personal beliefs in the area of religion (...or freedom from it...), moral issues (....abortion, the illusion of equal rights, gay rights....), and political freedom issues (....protected speech vs "hate speech", right to self-protection via the Second Amendment, ownership of firearms, ect....). I believe that lots of non-voters are either oblivious to the assault on their rights or simply dont believe that it is happening at all. I cant understand either one of these notions; but that is just me. Folks here on TGO tend to be political junkies and prognositcators. We are pretty sensitive (...prehaps ultra sensitive...) to what is going on politically around us. There is evidently a whole world of Rip Van Winkles out there who are asleep; or, worse, yet, a bunch of children who simply dont care. I simply dont know which it is. All that being said, the current Nabama administration has upped the ante on the war; and have managed to push this "intrusion of rights" and "entitlements" a long way down the road in a short amount of time. They have pushed hard enough to realize some pretty nasty setbacks in the area of assaults on the Bill of Rights. They will get their way on some things (...givin money away, etc....). I believe they will loose on the assault on the Bill of Rights and States Rights. I also believe at the end of this next four years, lots more people will be poorer, out of work, out of health insurance, etc; and more of them will wake up and vote. The jury is still out on how they will vote; but my guess is that they wont like the policies they voted for (...either by direct vote, or by not voting at all....). Time will tell. leroy
12. Jay: Final question(s): 1. You have stated that:"...we're way past the point our founding fathers were.....". I simply dont agree, so we need to agree to disagree on this one. 2. What should be done by the citizenry to correct this problem? This aint a trick or gotcha questiton. I'm vitally and genuinely interested in this one; as im shure that many others are here too. leroy
13. Interestin stuff. The specter of John C. Calhoun is stalking the Nobamaites. HEHEHE leroy
14. I fully agree. It's Lybia and Hillary gettin ready to tun over uncle joe for the Prez nomination in 2016. leroy
15. Jay. I understand the point and it is well taken. Some things to consider: Samuel Adams staked this life, liberty, and personal fortune to help found this country. He and his associates succeeded in whupping the the superpower of his day; creating the country that everybody admires, wants to come to, and be a part of for over 200 years. All that happened between 1776 and 1784. Samuel Adams and folks like him handed us the greatest country that had ever existed. For that i am, indeed, thankful. I can accept the argument that Sam would not recognize nor approve of what is goin on (....and, in fact, has gone on in this country since 1861....) since this country's founding. Havin said all that, im not sure that you can compare then with now. Then, the British were running rough shod over the populace, taking their arms, confiscating their property, quartering troops in their houses, and tellin them they better like it or else. No one is doin that today. I will grant that government in some places is encroaching on personal liberty and picking the pockets of the producers in this country. What happened in British colonial times is a far cry from what is goin on in this country today. No one is comming to your door to kick your door down, take your stuff, or ravish your wife while wearing the uniform of the united states. No one has come to take your brothers and sisters away and impress them into military service (...in the last few years, anyway....). No one is comming to disarm you. I will grant that they would like to; but i doubt they will. To me, at least, you simply cant compare what happened then with what is happening now. It aint the same thing. We have had thoroughout the history of this country crooks, oppressors, and pickpockets in high political office. I predict that that situation will continue. It always has. It is, sadly, the nature of things. As i see things, its our job to try to fix this problem thru the vote. This country has morphed into an empire that has the tendency to go around the globe and meddle in affairs it should never be involved in; and has been doin so ever since WW1. We have, in fact, become what Sam Adams and the founding fathers abhored. We are now citizens of the american empire. We are reaping the harvest of imposing our national will on others. Our country as it has been constituted and governed over the last hundred or so years looks nothin like i believe it was envisioned by the founding fathers. It may well be that we implode due to our own differences and selfishness. In the mean time, i think we should try to fix what we can. That fix has got to start by determining what is and is not the responsibility of government toward its citizens, its business, its national neighbors, and the individual states making up the union. What is right. What is wrong. The list goes on and on. The fact is that there is no 'taking of quotes" out of context, because the context aint the same. We should, indeed, have serrious discussions as to how to fix these great problems. That is what we are doin here. leroy
16. I love the wood in the handles. The knife work aint bad either!!! They look good. leroy
17.
I'm not sure you understand what that quote means? It's aimed at people like you, not the 'people' that re-elected the village idiot because he will give them free stuff. It's meant to call fence sitters what they are, cowards. And make no mistake we're all fence sitters.... We're happy to accept wealth over liberty, we're happy to accept tranquility of slavery over a contest of freedom... We continue to lick the hand the feeds us, and hope the chains sit lightly on us. We are the people who this founding father was referring to in this quote. We sit idle and look the other way while very bad things are done in our name to our fellow citizens. And we sit here hoping and praying for some politicians to save us... Samuel Adams was a great founding father, he knew how to say pointed things that were true... His comments are still very valid today, but make no mistake, if he were alive today, those comments would not be pointed at the 'loyalists' who voted for our current 'leader', but at us who are sitting on the fence complaining about it.
Jay: I'm all for "self assessment"; and i think its ok and even proper to do some soul searchin and self evaluation. Havin said all that; I dont know that after the "evaluation" you are in a position to call folks (...other than you...) out as "...people like you...". At the minimum, I would recommend that you give folks the benefit of the doubt seein as ya dont know whether they are "....down for the stuggle..." or a pinko commie statist operative in drag. I'm all for you thinkin that you are one of the "fence sitters" and "cowards" if ya want to. It's even ok to even think that others are "sittin on the fence" and "cowards" too; but the way i see things; it aint your business to call them out publically. Remember, that self-evaluation includes you; not you and everyone else. I'm ok with you publishin the results on "you" but not on "....you and me....". The way i see things right now, i think ya could use a Dale Carnege course on winnin friends and influencin people. I can tell ya (...in my case at least...) this aint the way to do it. If you are into shockin folks; it might work out; but ya need to remember that some folks dont take kindly to bein called out by others who they dont know on a personal basis. I can also understand and can identify with ya bein a bit upset about what has happened in the election; and in the downward course this country has taken in general over the past few hundred years. That doesnt mean that i think ya ought to pick a fight with folks that pretty well see things the way you do and are tryin to help in their own small way. I wuz simply postin what my take on all this is; not cruzin for a lecture and a bit of name callin from someone i dont know. Ya might want to consider the possibility that there are folks with a bit of forebearance that may be somehere on the continuum of movin to change the system from within. I dont know that im ready to take up my rifle just yet; nor would i advise anyone else to take them up either. In the American Revolution, the "changin from within" thing didnt work out too well; and folks like Sam Adams took their rifles up. I happen to think that the jury is out on this one, and everybody aint made their minds up yet. leroy
18. Robert:____________ My 23 year old bludgoned me into not callin myself a Republican anymore about a year ago. As he is fond of sayin: "...I'm an equal opportunity political hater. I hate both political parties....". I think he is right. Ive finally realized that im a radical isolationist libertarian. I think we need to call all the troops home, quit sendin money to our enemies in other countries, and stop the dole... period. As John Smith said"...." No work, no eat....". I realize all that aint gonna happen; but that's the criteria that im usin for evaluating polititicos. Oh, by the way, im an Elitist too. As one of my ole buddies used to say: "....The older i get, the more elitist i become....". I know exactly what he wuz sayin. I find myself bein the same way. leroy
19. Congratulations. They are a great thing. leroy
20. This is pretty much how i feel about what's goin on in view of the recent election:
....“Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ....—Samuel Adams
Ole Sam wuz right. Let's salute him Link here: http://moonbattery.com/?p=20667. leroy
21. The Republicans will never win until they get rid of the "Blue Noses" at the top who are polititians first, northeast elites second, and Demorat lite third. The sad truth is the OhShoot's post above RE: the Russian evaluation of our system is uncomfortably true. For a lot of years ive made my political guesses on the theory that the country wuz divided politically as follows: 1/3 demorat, 1/3 republican, 1/3 asleep; and that for the most part, folks wanted to work. Those who were asleep woke up every four or so years and voted for someone. It appears now that the split is 1/2 takers, 1/2 producers. The producers got slightly out voted. It showed up bigger than it really is with the electorial college thing. This does not bode well for this country or the producers living in "non producing" states. I think it does bode well for the individual states that contain a majority of producers. Producers livin in "non producing states" who want more than the gubmt cheese and nobama i-phones will move to states friendly to business so they can have more stuff. The takers will sit down and wait for the cheese and i-phone wagon to ride up to their door; if the druggies dont kill 'em first. My guess is that in the long run; the blue states will get bluer and the red states will get redder. The split between the federal givernment (...yeah, i meant to spell it that way....) and the state governments will get sharper, and at some point there will be a showdown. There is a fight looming out on the horizon over the regulation of business by the federal government. My guess is that some smart governor and state attorney general will continue to slap the various federal organs of givernment over the next four years, limiting the power of the alphabet organs (...NLRB, OSHA, and IRS (...hopefully...)) to meddle in state affairs (...think public unions here, right to work states, state enviornmental rules, etc...). The big winners in this election may well be the lawyers. They will stay busy doin all this stuff. I also believe there is a day comming when the handling of federal tax revenue generated within the various states will have to be returned to that individual state in the exact dollar for dollar collected vs returned system (...think entitlements here; medicare, medicade, welfare....) in "block grants" to be used for the various entitlement purposes (...if there are any...) by that individual state in accordance with individual state laws. The states will set the criterion for elgibility, not the federal government operatives. The specter of John C. Calhoun and states rights vs federal oppression is rising again. leroy
22. Ask that genius Albert Gore Jr. what happens when a 6 term Tennessee Senator votes for a gun prohibition (...think the Gun control act of 1968...) initiative. leroy
23. Like all our brother opiners in this thread have observed. Everybody was holding their breath on this election (....businesses and folks that work for a livin, that is....) hoping Romney would win. He didnt. Everybody will simply adjust their business to accommodate the bad economic news for them. Some will lay off personnel, and keep tryin to work. Some will move to china (....Chrysler-Fiat -- jeep wrangler....). Big multinational companies will just do business in a more economically and regulatory friendly company and quit foolin with the usa. Some will sell their small businesses and put their money in their pockets. The bottom line is that this is bad economic news for all the producers and those who want to produce in the usa. There's lots of folks that wont make it another 4 years in their businesses. They may quit and cut their losses. Lots of construction folks will be in bad shape. Miners will be in bad shape due to Nobamas's "War on Coal". Economic growth in this country will be on hold another 4 years due to idiotic regulations alone. I have come to believe that we are Providentially blinded and are like the lemmings diving off the cliff. More than that, if ya dont jump off, the dammed government will try to throw ya off if they can. It's astounding to me how dammed dumb an Ivy League education can make most politicos. leroy
24. In the great words of one of our brother pundits who opined on the North Korea threats from the late "dog man" s year or so ago: "...I've looked over and seen my AK is ready; now i'm goin back to sleep....". Let these thugs and "lesser children" burn their own neighborhoods down. They won't do anything else. leroy
25.
Enough people read alternative media for the word to get out.
Dan makes an excellent point here. I'm a news junkie and always have been. The more that is out there, the more i look at. Most everyone that has eyes to see has figured out that, for the most part, the "mainstream" (....alphabet media outlets on tv...) and the big city and syndicaed newspaper media are insufferable socialists who will shill for their pet beliefs. I never watch the "mainstream media" on tv. I do read some of their articles and opinion pieces. Most of my news comes from the blogs and Drudge over the net. My 23 year old pointed out to me the other day (....he goes to a local community college...) that he and all his friends get their "news" thru the blogs and social media. For the most part, they have figured out that the old time "big media" is lyin about everything or shilling for their favorite candidate or political operative. They are cynical and are, at heart, isolationist (....as far as foreign conflict is concerned...) libertarians. His speech on the media goes somethin like this: "....When the greatest generation wuz alive and voting for FDR, they were fed the "news" that the elites wanted them to hear. There wuz one funnel and one megaphone. That megaphone wuz the radio and the newspaper. Folks were also too busy makin a livin and tryin to eat to worry too much about much more than that, and they believed their leaders were tryin to do the right thing. Today there is a lot more prosperity (...despite this current crop of stupidity whe have in the whitehouse...) and there is more time to think and millions more ways to get information. The internet has made everyone a reporter and its almost impossible for some jackass like biden or nobama (....or any other political or public figure....) to go out and say somethin at one place and contradict it at another without some nerd catchin him in a lie and posting the original video. I (...he and me....) never believe anything that comes out of a mainstream reporter or politico's mouth until it has been verified several places....". I count all that cynicism a good thing. Ya cant lie anymore without gettin caught by someone; and that is exactly what will happen to nobama on this Bengazi thing....". Another fact is that we are polarized as a culture. On the one side, ya have the "gimme" generation who believe the union drivel and the demorat mantra of "...mo,mo,mo...". They prefer the mainstream media. On the other side, ya have the capitalists and the libertarians who actually believe that the Constitution means what it says, and who want government to quit interferin in their lives and encroaching on the liberties that they understand are guaranteed by the Constitution. This bunch believes nothin that the mainstream media and the "mo,mo,mo" bunch believes. They tend to look to the blogs for news. I say that when Jesus prophetically spoke to the people and said: "...There is nothing whispered in the ear in the innermost room of the house that will not be shouted from the rooftops..."; He was speaking speaking on several levels. The time for the terrestrial fullfillment of His pronouncement is here. People are listening more and more. They no longer trust their political operatives nor their pimps in the media. People are cynical and skeptical. They well should be. I say, keep listenin, this one aint over by a long shot. leroy
