Robert. I, and lots of others like yourself, i believe; would like to have seen (...notice the passed tense...) this be done fairly and with impartiality. I'm also hopin for that in the trial. But, to my thinkin, the sad fact is that any pretense of fairness and impartiality was thrown out in this particular case when the political class opportunists took the investigation and reviews for criminal charges out of the hands of the local police department and prosecuting attorney; and started the "witch hunt" for George Zimmerman to placate the rabble who were "outraged" at the supposidely heinous murder of a child (...who wuz really an 18 year old, 185 lb. thug...). The real loosers in this whole debacle are the citizens of the state of florida. They have seen that the political class on both sides of the spectrum are nothin but opportunists usin the power of the state to maliciously prosecute an individual to score political points; which, in itself, is clearly illegal. They have murdered the rule of law in florida and sent a message to every potential dissident in the state that all you have to do to get a punitive prosecution on an individual basis is to raise a little hell and get on tv threatening to upset the political applecart and call in a few favors to the race-baiters ALA Sharpton and Jackson; not to mention threatening to vote the "wrong way" next election. Let's hope that this sort of "law" doesnt spread to other places, like tennessee, for instance. On a personal basis, i dont think it will. My guess is that this is a 50/50 state carpetbagger thing. leroy

I look for a hung jury with the state declining to re-try. That way they can have it both ways. To the race baters it's a "...we tried but the jury didnt go along...". To the folks who are skeptical its a "...we were pushed into it by the race-baters. We didnt want to try him. Look at our witnesses. We chose not to re-try..." That way these sons and daughters of satan can have it both ways. leroy

Thanks for posting this Sam. I saw it myself this pm on fox (...i think...). A careful reading of the story indicates that the county judge and prosecutor "agreed to drop these charges" . I say "baloney"... Some real political operative told the prosecuting attorney (...obviously and idiot...); "...This is West Virginia, man. People have guns here. Are you tryin to get us all thrown out of office? This aint New York City, and you aint Bloomberg....". By the way, Logan County, WV is the site of the infamous Battle of Blair Mountain. The term "redneck" originated here at this "battle". Union organizers and battle participants were identified by red bandanas (...hence the term "redneck"...). Check the Blair Mountain thing out; you will be surprized. Logan county was also the jurisdiction of the infamous Sheriff Don Chafin ...check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Chafin#Battle_of_Blair_Mountain By the way; the Wikipeddia article referenced above is pretty much pure bunk and lies; it does get the tale straight about the "wars" and "shooting". The details are bad. The real truth can be found in the newspaper accounts in an obscure book titled: "Bloodletting in Applalachia. The West Virginia Mine Wars" by Howard B Lee. The Wikipedia article is no more truthful than the UMW website account of the matewan massacre. If that aint enough, the next county over is Mingo County, the site of the Matewan Massacre. leroy

I think Punisher is on the right track here. I would opine that it's been dyin since LBJ declared "War on Poverty". I saw him do it on TV when i wuz a high schooler. The truth is that FDR started the ball rollin; and polititians and bureaucrats of various stripes have been workin overtime (...along with the race-baters...) to kill it since the sixties. The current bunch has just kicked the can a lot further down the road a lot quicker, and more people are beginning to notice it. leroy

I say in the long run it aint goin to. I think we are gonna see this country devolve into a confederation of sorts just as ive opined. One will be comprized of "on the dole" states; the other the "ya have to work" states. The "on the dole" states are goin broke. They will demand more dollars for the "dole". They wont get 'em; they will (...and are...) dry up . The Federal gubmt will try to put the arm on the "ya have to work states". Some smart governor about like Rick Perry (...remember him, he wuz "too dumb" accordin to the media the the republican insiders to become president...) and some smart state's attorney will sue the Federal Gubmt sayin that the Fed's cant withhold dollars duly collected by the individual states (...which the court has already said, by the way ALA John Roberts and Obamacare....). Said another way: "...what each individual state pays in to the Treasury must come out of the treasury back to that particular state via "block grants" for specific purposes. That means that each state will manage it's particular program (...welfare, healthcare, ect ect...) using state programs as outlined by state law; each state imposing it's particular set of rules (...drug testing, ya have to hunt for work, ya have to go to school... you get the idea....); not the federal government. It's the rise of "state's rights" vs the federal government redux ALA the Civil War without firing a shot. The "ya gotta work" states will encourage businesses to settle in their particluar states; that is, they will make their state a "business friendly" state ALA Tennessee (...volkswagen and nissan...) and Texas; becoming richer. The "on the dole states" have already run all their businesses off, becoming poorer ALA Michigan and Kalefornia. If what i've described happens, it will clean up the "on the dole" thing, and put the management of welfare, indigent care, dividual states. Let's hope im right. Otherwise, we will become South Africa and Rawanda. leroy

Rahm Emanuel Pushing New Gun-Free Zones Throughout Chicago
leroy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm ok with whatever the Rahm Man wants to do in Chicago. Just keep it in Chicago. As a buddy of my 24 year old is fond of sayin: "...If you like that, just keep on likin it. Get as much of it as ya can stand....". I simply dont care what they do up there. I care about what we do down here. They've asked for a leader like Rahm; let 'em live with him. leroy -
I think these "tribalist children". "Soweto Freedom Fighters", "Black Panthers" and other "imaginary community activists" that are tweeting this bad stuff on their Obama phones might need to think a bit about this lynching Zimmerman thing. Whether George Zimmerman is acquitted or not; the scorecard is "Z-Man"-1; "thugs"-0. This whoppin, killin, shootin thing may not be as easy as some of the "community activists" think. RE: "....burnin everything down...". On a personal basis, i could care less about these "commuity activists" burnin their own communities down. There are evidently some communities that need burnin down because they tolerate and even condone this activity. The problem will come when this trouble moves "across the track" and comes to my house. I; and i think lots of other people who dont burn things down when they dont get their way, probably aint gonna put up with that sort of thing. I say: "...burners beware...". Theres been a lot of ammo and guns sold lately. My guess that outside of inner city memphis and chattanooga; there aint gonna be much burnin in tennessee. The best they could do here in knoxville is to heckle Dave Chapelle at the theatre the other nite. They had to pay to get in to do that. This country is devolving rapidly into two countries. Maybe it's for the best. The thugs and "on the dole" crowd can live in on of 'em; and the "real people" who dont do the things we're talkin about can live in the other one. I'm ok with that. leroy

It's a commentary on pop culture. Thuggery crosses all socio-economic strata. Looks like the NFL let this one slide thru the cracks and missed screening him. After he gets out of the big house (...if he goes, lots of money...); as others have opined, he could have a future on the "rubber chicken" circuit talikin about "wrong decisions". Remember, ganstas is gangstas. leroy

Lester: To mount a winch ya need a winch mounting kit. Check this out for a winch and mounting kit: http://www.quadratec.com/showcases/quadratec_exclusive/quadratec_winch/ Ive got a "milemarker" (...i think, on our 2000 wrangler, never used it....). What we use is a simplified version of this design: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12148_100_07.htm The bumpers (....front and rear...) are a great addition. Make sure they have pad eyes for shackles and ya wont have any problems pulling whatever ya want to pull. Both the front and rear on our jeep are the "rock crawler" type (...they dont cover the tires, lots of people dont like that...). I like 'em because they were short, stout, rugged and were on the jeep when we bought it from one of our ole buddies. The best way to find what ya like is to look at Quadratec and Morris off road. I can recommend 'em because ive bought from both of them. They are both good companies. Lastly, remember the "jeep thing" is a "toy thing". The prices run from mild to wild. Decide what ya want to give for what you are looking for and buy what ya like. Have fun lookin and let us know what ya decide to buy. leroy

This video is a powerful endorsement of "...you need to have a weapon handy and in reach at all times...". We can quibble about the idea that "...there are kids in the house, i dont like guns, ya might shoot a neighbor, ya might shoot someone you love, nobody should own guns (...the NJ standard...), dont resist and he wont hurt you (...real funny one...), on and on.... ya get the point...). The fact is, as others have opined that this can and does happen everywhere and it aint an "across the track, poor neighborhood" issue at all; its everywhere ubiquidous. Since it is "everywhere ubquidous"; you better decide what you need to do beforehand. I'ts a wonder that the poor woman in this video wasn't beat to death, or worse. Thank God she wasnt killed. Notice the police werent there; not because they didnt want to be (...which we can quibble a bit about too; especially in NJ...). The fact is that the police cannot be everywhere. I'm a 66 year old gimp with a 65 year old wife. We couldn't survive a beating like this thug passed out. My solution is simple... If you kick the door in at my house and make it across the threshold and you aint wearing swat gear and hollering "...officers..."; im gonna try to "...stop the threat with great finality...". I may get whooped and gut stomped, but it will be after the shootin, stabbin, and fightin is over. The same goes for the truck, jeep, and anywhere else im wonderin around. I'm never not armed, and ive decided what to do should that awful day come. I recommend that you and your loved ones do the same. From the bunker on the hillside. leroy, armed citizen

I well remember my mis-spent youth (...20's...) in the golden age of the fast car. We lived and ran around out in the country right on the knox county, sevier county, blount county line on US 441. Some of our best buddies and harshest disciplinarians were members of the THP. They were great men, great lawmen, and all round good guys. They were, in fact, men you could look to for help when needed and discipline when needed. It looks like Greg may have run into some of their sons. Thank You Lord for lettin some of them stay around. leroy

Thanks Ted. I'm a big D. M. Bullard fan myself. Got several OWB holsters myself. They are "bodyguards" (...i think...). My pocket holster is a D. M. Bullard roughout. leroy

Triple:___________ Been watchin this thread about the "spots". When i looked at the picture again this mornin somethin hit me. In the "old days" when i actually worked for a livin; one of my jobs wuz doin welding and fabrication related stuff. One of the problems that showed up from time to time in stainless steel fabrication wuz a thing called carbon contamination of stainless steel. S30v steel is a high grade stainless with about 14 points of Chromium. In a nutshell, carbon steel tools, principally grinding tools used on carbon steel that have carbon steel particles embedded in them will sometimes "contaminate" a stainless steel surface and that surface will show a tiny bit of rust which is due to the small spot of carbon steel rusting on the surface of the stainless steel material. Im sure that the s30v is "hard as a harlot's heart" (...it's a martensitic stainless steel...) and that these blades are ground to their final shape; or polished up some way usin surface and contouring grinders. My bet is that when they were "cleaned" (...i dont know how they do it...) for the DLC coating, that a tiny bit of carbon steel dust stayed, which i think is highly unusual in itself. What ya are probably seein is a tiny bloom of carbon steel "rust" that cant push thru the DLC coating; it just discolors it. The way we "fixed" these problems (...which were geneerally much bigger areas...) wuz to flapper wheel out the offending spot with a "clean" (...not used on carbon steel...) flapper wheel. You dont want to do that to your DLC coated blade. Havin said all that, its pretty much like Mike said above. Outside of the little discoloration, its a "no nevermind". Dont know if that's the problem or not; but it's at least a "could be" theory. leroy

I know this looks dumb (...quoting yourself, HEHEHE...) but i wanted to take the time to thank SWForty for his recommendation of the "Old Faithful Holsters". I finally put one together yesterday and am wearin it for the first time this mornin. It took all of about 15 minutes to do, and my little 238 is restin inside it now as im typin this thank-you. It looks to me like us "full figured" boys can wear this little holster at about the 4 oclock position pretty comfortably. The thing i like about this one is that it's put together with screws, not rivets, so it can be "fixed" as necessary. The reason for the laziness wuz that i always carried the 238 in a front pocket holster in my dungarees. They have deep pockets. These dammnable work shorts im wearin (...finally had to dig 'em out yesterday...) have short pockets. That must be the reason they are "factory seconds". Anyway, thanks again to SWForty for the tip on the "Old Faithful" holster for my little buddy and constant companion. They are well worth the price. Thanks again, leroy

Since 1996 NTSB said it was an internal explosion... TWA800
leroy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have little doubt that the gubmt is capable of lyin to us delightful rustics for the "collective good" (...they stay in power and you stay quiet and thankful for them...); and they've been doin it a long time. I have always believed that the Flight 800 conclusions were bogus. There aint no "spontaneous combustion of jet fuel" (...it's kersosene...). There aint no "bad wiring" thru the fuel cells, or whatever they laid the initiation source to. As i remember, several qualified pilots in the area reported a contrail of some sort commin up to the downed liner. My bet is accidential military shoot-down. Ya cant say ya did that sort of thing. You simply cant be seen as that incompetent, nor can ya be seen as tracking a friendly civilian aircraft with missles armed. disbeleivin leroy -
The problem with spying on everybody is that all statists, regardless of political stripe like it. What they have to do is to keep it quiet. Snowden messed that up; and with the light shinin in, the rats are running. That is why some Democrats are aghast at this reprehensible behavior. Most everybody understands the Fourth Amendment. You cant square what's goin on with PRISM phone and email surveillence monkeybusiness with the Fourth Amendment, and most everyone understands that. You simply are not "safe in your person, papers, ect..." with this program lookin at your phone calls and e-mails without a warrant to do so. That's the problem. Some Democrats and Statist Republicans are makin up fanciful tales about how we are somehow "safer" because they are listening. I say "baloney"; and i believe lots of other folks are sayin that too. The fact is that anyone who backs this sort of stuff is lookin more and more like "Uncle Joe Stalin" and less and less like "Uncle Sam"; and most people understand that (...with the exception of the "low information" folks and the political hacks...). Popular political opinion is turnin against these clowns, and it well should. I remember when the Democrats were all for the First and Fourth Amendment. That's the basis of the "hippie revolution" and protests that changed the american landscape. I think it is hilarious that the same nasty haired, smelly, long haired, mangy questioners of the immutable laws have now got a haircut, got elected to government office (...or worse, became bureaucrats...), stole a bunch of money, gave up their "ideals" (..assumin they had some...), and then became what they professed to hate some 40 or 50 years ago. The time of the democrats bein able to stand up with the mantle of indignation wrapped around themselves sayin that "bush is a facist and is spyin on us" is over. They've got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. The same goes for the stinkin republican jackasses like Linsey Graham and John McCain. The "how can we fool 'em today" and the "Sam the Eagle" protecting us delightful rustics by spyin on us is back-firing bigtime. I say let the voters identify the guilty and eliminate them. The only thing that the defenders of thes programs are doin is that they are protecting their stinkin jobs. You simply cannot "trust" the untrustworthy to do the right thing and keep you safe. You certainly cannot trust the untrustworthy not to use highly sensitive data that should be protected by the Fourth Amendment from being used to punish your real and imagined political enemies ALA the IRS and NSA messes. I think more and more folks are wakin up to that fact. leroy

I think it's interestin that the supremes gave the state the "roadmap" of how to fix this by petitioning the commission that is responsible for this form (...cant think of their name...) and asking them to add "state specific" requirements to the form. They also said that if the commission refused (...evidently they have added state specific stuff in the passed...) the state making the request can "litigate" that question. As OS said, the supremes didnt find a "new right to vote without bein a citizen". Check the blog post out that's down about a half a page: http://www.ace.mu.nu/ leroy

Here's a good article from Hot Air that covers the story pretty thoroughly: http://hotair.com/archives/2013/04/21/8th-grader-suspended-arrested-for-wearing-nra-shirt/ My guess is that if the Logan County School system doesnt have a dress code that addresses this (...they dont, i checked, you can google logan county wv school system and find it...); they are in big trouble. There are plenty of pro bono law groups that could take this up if the kids nose is clean, and he is a reasonable, responsible, student and citizen. If he wuz respectful, there wuz a camera recording it all, and he didn't do anything out of the way; the school clowns are inbig trouble. Check this out: http://www.firstamendmentschools.org/freedoms/faq.aspx?id=12991 Logan county, WV is an old time democrat stronghold; but they like guns there too. This one will be interesting to watch. leroy

Ya may want to try some Lee's tumble lube; but be careful, a little goes a long way. I also like Lng's post above. It may be the best solution. Ya may want to get out your aerosol dry spray lube and spray a few. I would try his way first with a few and test 'em. If it works, its the way to go. Hope this helps. leroy

I want to second what 10 Ring said in his post above. It aint been so long ago that i drove the "dragon" pretty regularly. Be advised that what 10 Ring said is what ya better do if ya want to stay down here in this old world. Any advanced idiocy or miscalculation (...like meeting an opposing vehicle in the wrong lane can and most likely will be fatal for someone...). The hillside is steep, the road is narrow, theres no place to go to avoid a head-on crash, and there aint a good way to get to ya if you are hurt or need to be lifted out somehow. Runnin off the road up there will most likely be fatal, especially for small cars and motorcycles. The THP and the NC State Police used to watch it pretty heavily, and they will punish the foolish. Remember, up there, the life you save could well be your own. This is a public service message from folks who used to drive this stretch of road regularly. It is, indeed, a very dangerous and unforgiving place. leroy

This is interestin stuff. Thank you for posting it. Did you all see what Angela Merkle said to the "unemployed" in germany the other day (...read "unemployed as turkish immigrants on welfare...)? She said:..."Move".!! I think it will be here soon too. Here, i predict that "means testing" and other "burdensome requirements" (...to some; like drug testing, ect ect; looking for work, ect ect...) will be the vehicle for welfare reform and it will be done at the state level. leroy
