  1. HEHEHE.... Looks to me like some of the delightful rustics aint bowing down... I say: "...good for you, remember there is an election commin up in 2014; vote early and often...."..   leroy
  2. I fully agree that everyone who loves liberty and believes that the Constitution says what it says sould be both watchful and engaged in this whole thing...  It is very important to be involved... In no way did i mean to make light of the situation.. My point is simply that as government is constituted based upon the Constitution alone; this UN treaty thing means nothin...   As to being proactive and fighting the "progressivists"; i certainly think we should and are...That's why the democrats and republicans are both howling about the Tea Party and the Club for Growth and calling them names... The people are pushin back and the political class is being affected by it; just as it should be... More and more people are gettin madder and madder about what government is doin to them and they are pushing back... That's the reason for the Tea Party and the Club for Growth...   Look at what the Tea Party has already done within the Republican party; not to mention the Club for Growth; the guys that are "targeting" RINO's and others via the primary process... Listening to the republican establishment in some quarters; ya would think that the Club for Growth guys are satan... The reason; they are shaking up the political establishment and tearing down some long standing deals between the two parties; and that is a good thing...   While the pundits on both sides said the Tea Party wuz extreme and wuz dead; the Tea Party, the Club for Growth, and folks like Rand Paul and Ted Cruze have changed the political landscape and the republican party for the better...  The solution is, in fact, politics and winning; but the right kind of folks need to win...The other solution is the Civil War solution.. Politics is always better...   Look around... The Red States are politely saying no to federalism for the most part... Look at what happened in Wisconsin the other day with their governor declining to close a supposedly "national park" when directed to by the fed...  This is interestin stuff...  I contend that that trend will continue because if ya get people that are fed up with this stuff in a socialist paradise like wisconsin; just think what ya have in the "former confederate states"... Look at what wuz said right here in Tennessee by Bill "Snozz" Haslam  RE:  the proposed gun ban stuff that failed in congress... He said:   (...my rough paraphrase translation....): " ... we are looking into the constitutionality of these proposals with an eye toward protecting the second amendment rights of tennesseeans..."     For the first time since the civil war; federalist power is being challenged and curbed by the states... That's a good thing... What's goin on now is just a "divided government" thing... Its the executive branch and the senate against the house in a stalemate...   Remember, it's always a good thing when the gubmt is fightin among itself...  They cant do too much that's stupid(er) than usual...they cant agree on anything...  On a personal basis; i think it would be good if the dammed government wuz shut down... period... for a while... It would straighten lots of things out...   Hope this helps explain a bit more...   leroy
  3. I like it!!!  My take on Kerry's purple heart is that he wuz head wounded in a beer joint somewhere in viet nam.... That would explain his idiotic and treasonous behavior....   leroy
  4. Take a look at Marathon Seatcovers... We've got a set on our jeep wrangler... They are waterproof nylon canvas (...totally waterproof....)... they fit well and work like a charm... Ours are (...naturally...) camo...   Here is the website: http://www.marathonseatcovers.com/   leroy
  5.   I think this is a fair question...  As long as the Obama regime makes no move to implement any of this stuff that infringes on the Constitution; i think nothin will happen; because it doesnt need to...  There will be another election and this whole little thunderstorm will go away like it never happened...  If they do, in fact, decide to implement some unconstitutional provisions of the treaty unilaterally; my guess (...and it is a guess....) is that the opposition party (...whoever that might be with standing, NRA, Republicans, Tea Party, you, me....) would file suit in federal court... The suit would move thru the judicial system and be adjudicated (...again...)... The problem with all this hand wringing is that this has already been settled....   Just because a bunch of political operatives sign something that is patently unconstitutional doesnt make it binding on all of us; nor does it make it a law... Again, its theater for the "children"... Dont get dragged into the maelstrom about this...    A far more important battle is goin on now over this gubmt shutdown and the debt limit... Its an argument about who has the power of the purse when the constitution clearly says that the legislative branch holds it... There is no place in government where this heinous bunch of would be dictators isnt probing to find out what they can get by with; legally or otherwise... On balance, they have lost big every time they go up against the Constitution...Thanks several times to the Supremes and the lower Federal Courts, who some of us (...me included...) regularly blaspheme here...   I think it's extremely interesting that while the executive branch is runnin wild and the legislative branch tends to be weak and fractured; the judicial branch is doin it's job of (....for the most part...) protecting us from this idiocy and encroachment on liberty.... I think they full well know that they better do their job and do it well; because they can come under attack as well as we citizens can...They seem to realize how high the stakes are in this current thunderstorm and are acting accordingly...  Mainly, doin their job exactly as the Constitution calls for them to do...  Remember, the Obama regieme has taken a horrible beating at the hands of the supremes and the federal appeals courts on lots of things; and i predict there is more commin...   More than that; just who is gonna take up the guns and where do ya think they will start?....  Stuff like that started the Revolutionary War... No one is gonna take up your guns in a red state... Some of the "children" in the blue states may voluntarily give theirs up; but i dont believe for a second that will happen down here; and in the long run, it wont happen in the blue states... the reason;...its unconstitutional.... Remember Charles Krauthammer's recent opining on this very subject...  Obama and Reid like to talk about us being a "nation of laws"; and we are.... That's exactly why they cant do the UN arms treaty thing; plus lots of other things they dream of...   I say in the kindest possible way; dont worry about a lame duck president/pseudo emperor and his idiotic apparatchik signing a piece of paper that is clearly unconstitutional on its face... Worry about what our weak-kneed republicans might do with any budget deals; its far more important...   leroy
  6. Folks... ETP's post above (...#33...) is exactly right...  Treaties cant trump the Constitution (...as others have wisely opined...)....    As to the UN "enforcing" anything... Dont worry....  .    As to politicians here in the good ole USA doin anything about "banning guns"; the supremes have ruled on that one too... The Second Amendment is an "indivudual right"; despite whatever Rugh Bader Ginsburg and others say... They lost...     The signing of the un arms treaty wuz red meat for the anti-gunners and a red flag to infuriate the "real people" in this country... It was agreed to in symbolic terms only (....treaties require ratification and cant trump the Constitution....) by two of the most heinous anti american sons of satan who have lived since the civil war --- maybe ever in our history as a nation...     They are both overbearing, pompous, narcissistic, nincompoops who have no notion of anything other than that they should be emperors and that us delightful rustics should bow down and do what they say--- after all, they are the best and brightest; and we (...and the Founding Fathers, evidently...) are just ignorant old men......    Their main problem is that we wont bow down, the Bill of Rights restrains them, and there will be another election soon; and they will be out... That is the true genius of our system of government... The hell with them both... Keep your powder dry...   leroy
  7. I'm a great Dillon fan myself.... They build a great product and absolutely tops on their service of their equipment...   leroy
  8. Very interesting.... The good news is that they are dead...    leroy
  9. No neighborhood is immune to trouble... As Jonnin wisely opined; it has been goin on since Adam and Eve... We live in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Within sight of my house, there is a guy that shot and killed (...rightfully so, i might add....) a guy who had been threatening him and his family for years... He did time for second degree murder and is back home now...   Right up the hill, there is a young man who is sittin in jail awaiting trial for beating a another idiot to death over a woman...   One of our neighbors (...aged 70...) is constantly worrying about what an ignorant grandpaw and a delinquent absentee dad (...aged 18 or so...) might do to his granddaughter (...aged 22...) and her two year old son...     You dont need to look far to find trouble... Ya just need to be ready when it comes...   leroy
  10. Folks:  Always take a look at where these "interesting incidents" are at... Mesa, AZ (...and AZ, in general...) is becoming kalefornia, east...  The effeminate, childish, pseudo-adults who needed to work to live have moved from the former golden state to the new golden state; and, evidently, thru some strange conjunction; have managed to procreate and replicate themselves... They have passed the wussification propaganda to their second generation... Let us hope for their silly sakes that they dont need to find out why they need an armed policeman at their schools...   I would be willing to bet that this sort of ignorance doesnt happen out in the country in AZ...   leroy   PS-- Thanks for posting this interesting insight into the "collective mind" of the wussy class...
  11. I hope they do "arrest" someone for "tresspassing" on closed gubmt property...  The more petty and childish the gubmt looks, the better it educates the citizenty to how sorry they really are... I say:"....Go ahead and gather some of these folks up.... You'll reap a bitter harvest from it...".   leroy
  12. To add to what Greg posted above; the whole idea of an quality o/u shotgun is to invest in a shotgun that does not need replacement due to structural problems -- ever, period... Ya may need to replace stuff like springs and screws; but the shotgun stock, receiver, and barrel stays the never needs replacement --- ever... The whole idea is that the shotgun outlives you and is passed to your kids and grandkids; a novel idea in our current "throw away culture"...Ya find a shotgun ya like and shoot it the rest of your life...   When i started shotgun shootin in earnest in the mid seventies; the Browning Belgum (...FN built, i think...) Broadway Traps were nearing their first round of use from their original owners...Most of them bought in the late 40's and early 50's... They had been shot continuously for 25 to 30 years...   I've seen them handled and shot so much that they took on the old time shiny gray patina that shows that most all the bluing is worn off the barrels; yet they locked up like a bank vault and shot like a dream...   Many of these old shotguns had multiple thousands of rounds thru them with no detrimental effect other than the blue wore off the barrels and the varnish got thin on the stock and fore ends...   Many of these old guns shot 500 or so rounds a week thru them for years on end... In short, they never wore out... They might break a spring or something minor; but a $5 replacement kept them shooting... I worked with an old buddy that wuz an avid bird hunter... He hunted with a Browning Diana Grade 20 gage... He had used it so much it had been back to Browning once for a factory re-blue...    The lesson in this little ramble is this; the idea of the mid to higher end o/u market is to buy a shotgun that will never wear out...   Ya cant go wrong with a browning or one of it's lesser children (...citori...), skb, winchester 101, or any of the Berettas or other european makes... There is a reason why they cost a bit more... The reason is what ive tried to state above...   This will make lots of people mad here; but i firmly believe it.... If ya want a shotgun that will outlast you, shoot flawlessly, and will do the job day in day out regardless of the job at hand; buy a quality japanese or european o/u... If ya want a so so "throw away" shotgun; buy a semiauto or a pump...    Remember, all this is bein written by a guy who loves (...and collects...) Browning A5's, Winchester model 97's, Winchester model 12's, and Ithaca model 37's... They are the "best of the best"... They just aint as good as a good o/u for everyday heavy duty shooting...   leroy
  13. My guess is no... The red ones were the only color the AA's were in the old days.... The "AA Architecture" discussion for both rounds is the same in the description...  The "gray" hull seems to be an "improved design"...  Load em up and see what ya get...   leroy
  14. They care a lot... All that's left is to stall, which they will do, with a goal of stalling passed the end of the Obama presidency... This is, in fact, the three branches of government working in the "checks and balances" fashion it wuz designed to do... Sadly, for Obama and company (...and, thankfully for us delightful rustics...) he wuz not elected dictator nor king... He wuz elected president... Even he (...and by extension, Holder...) is subject to the law of the land, and that's a good thing... Watch for the news media apologizes and party apparatchiks to start carryin water sayin this is "no big thing"... That means it is a "big thing"... HEHEHE....   Watchin leroy
  15. Its about the money man!!!!   KPD and the political class is just like all the others that feed at the public trough....   disbelievin leroy
  16. Heres another relatively unknown great soldier ya may have never heard of... Smedley Butler... Winner of the Brevet Medal (...the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor for officers...) and two Congressional Medals of Honor... He was a lover of the marine corps and, later in life, a passionate isolationist... He wuz (...and still is...) right about a lot of things... He is worth studying and honoring...   Link here: http://pabook.libraries.psu.edu/palitmap/bios/Butler__Smedley.html   With great gratitude, leroy
  17. Check this link out:  http://www.local8now.com/news/headlines/Blount-County-Sheriffs-Office-investigating-thumbtack-pokes-in-high-school-225596602.html   If ya had any doubts about the idiocy of local government, even in relatively sensible areas of our great state; just remember this...  Even im speechless...   leroy
  18.   Could be a "1861 pocket police cylinder"... It wasn't unusual for these percussion revolvers, especially the "well used" ones to have extra cylinders or orphaned cylinders from another revolver... The lanyard loop is interestin too... It may have been added by an old time gunsmith...They were popular round the ww1 era...    Remember, many of these old percussion revolvers were regularly used up into the 1930's...  They were (...and still are...) accurate, relatively dependable, and deadly in the right hands...    I tend to think that Spots has found a "real, original" navy with a maverick cylinder...   The area in which it wuz found (....Oliver Springs area...) was no stranger to strife and trouble from civil war times right up thru the 1930's...Lots of veterans came home to places like Oliver Springs after the civil war; and lots of people were armed because of the old time coal mine labor troubles that followed like at Coal Creek... Most everybody was armed in that vicinity; and they knew how to use those arms if they needed to;.... lots of their sons and daughters them still do today... thankfully...   leroy
  19. I would heartily add to the chorus of those that advocate using one brand of hull; and only one... In the "old days" we reloaded (...and used up...) AA trap loads at the rate of between 500 and 1000 a week...  We never had a jamb or a mis-fire with AA trap hulls, anybody's primers, and AA wads...   They were all shot thru recoil operated semiauto shotguns; a Franchi and an old Winchester Model 50... Enfield's wise observation about the column height (...powder, wad, and shot...) is extremely important in getting the right overall height and crimp without a bulge in the end of the round... That is very important...   As to longivity of the hulls; they will reload a bunch of times, then the crimp area becomes "tired" and it either will not hold a crimp or the crimp will "shoot out"... My advice:... Decide on the load ya like, buy the components for it by brand name, and start reloading and shootin...   leroy
  20. Folks... Got an interestin e-mail this mornin from Massa Corker explaining his actions on this very vote... The bottom line was that it has to go back to the house to be reworked; along with his usual explainin to me that he wants to "fix" obamacare for us delightful rustics as well...    It's my belief that the incumbent republican class in the senate (...and house...) is feeling tremendous heat from their constituents; thanks to men like Ted Cruze...   Remember this; the senate was once characterized by some bygone pundit as: "... a bunch of prima donna know it alls; each on of which think they should be president...."  Just look at Kerry and Hillary as proof of this great observation... .     When overbearing know it alls such as corker feel the need to "explain themselves" you can bet they are feeling the heat and trying to turn it back down a bit... That is a good thing...   Thank you Ted Cruze, Rand Paul, and all you delightful rustics that have raised all this hell...   leroy, primitive rustic isolationist
  21. HEHEHE..... Thanks for posting this neat tool... Another "Devil's Paintbrush"....   leroy
  22. As others have opined... Ive bought a lot of tires in my several years of drivin... There are none better nor any that wear longer than Michelin...   leroy
  23. We used to shoot lots (...100's if not 1000's...) of rounds thru a Ruger mark 1 and an old dan wesson 22 when ya could buy 22 ammo real cheap... Barrel wear is zero... The biggest problem (...as itis has wisely said...) is keeping them clean... Make sure ya clean 'em up good when you are fininshed; especially the powder residue buildup; and ya wont have any problems...As Moped has wisely opined; ya wont wear it out in you or your son's lifetime....   Enjoy... leroy
  24.   TMF nailed it here... He is exactly right... Check this thread out: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/70584-this-is-an-interesting-read/   leroy
  25. These guys do, in fact, serve a very useful purpose... They keep everybody sane and keep them thinkin about our freedoms....   They demonstrate how great the genius of the founding of this country was; and show the greatness of our Constitution and Bill of Rights...  They engage in free speech activities and freedom of association in spades... They say and believe things that most no one (...even me...) believes in and they think and promote heinous thoughts...   As long as they break no laws, sayin things and preaching doctrines that are offensive to some hearers in the public square is a good thing...  Its the free exercise of the freedom of speech and association... A fundamental right in this country guaranteed by the First Amendment...   I seem to remember that in the last year or so a bunch of white supremacists in wisconsin (...i think...) said a bunch of the usual stuff during an arraignment hearing in the federal court, and the prosecuting attorney (...unwisely, i think...) protested loudly that these guys should be locked up for their views... A woman federal judge called the US attorney out and reminded them about the First Amendment...   She said (...correctly, i believe...) "....that each individual has the right to state his or her opinions in the public square on issues of public discussion; no matter how heinous or offensive it may be to some hearers...." . I think she is exactly right; folks, ya cant bridle free speech and freedom of association and have a free society...   Havin said all that; belief in their rights to freedom of speech and association is not tantamount to accepting their views... It is important, however, to allow them to be said... Remember, this, if the freedoms of a bunch of white supremest nuts can be abridged, yours and mine can too...Ya dont have to accept what these guys believe to believe in their right to say 'em...   More than that; remember that the Southern Poverty Law Center is nothin more than a leftist bunch of sons and daughters of satan that hates everybody and/or any group that doesnt see things their way... They are nothin more than a bunch of leftist hypocrites that regularly slander individuals and groups they do not agree with... They have no "american values" nor do they believe in the Constitution... They simply believe they should call the shots.. period...   They punish those who dont by putting them on the "hate group" watch list...   Take the time sometime to go to their website and look at who some of these "hate groups" are.... You will be surprised...  They have gained stature in recent years with the current administration simply because they are allies... The SPLC and the (In)Justice Department are joined at the hip because they believe the same things... Principally, that anybody that they dont agree with should be silenced or shamed ALA the "Chicago Way"...  In my mind; the SPLC is far worse than any all white Neo-Nazi group ya can think of...   leroy the constitutionalists isolationist libertarian
