Heres and interesting read from a great blogsite that demonstrates the Obama "Scorched Earth" political "war" against his 'political enemies" as well as anything ive read... Here it is: http://sistertoldjah.com/archives/2013/10/18/obama-harryreidsshutdown-encouraged-enemies-unpatriotic-jerks/ Know your enemies... leroy

RE: Bersaguy's post on shotshell reloading... We basically did the same thing... My ole buddy (...now gone on...) and i started reloading on a mec 600 jr using once fired AA hulls, AA wads, reddot powder, and whoever's primers were available (...usually CCI or winchester...)... We would load about 500 to 800 rounds during the week when it wuz pretty and shoot em up on saturday... We used whatever the factory duplication load for 1 1/8 oz shot with the reddot and never changed...We would shoot these reloads until the crimp shot out of em and toss the hulls... We had a ton of fun... Shotgunning is as great a shooting sport as ya can participate in... leroy

If ya like a semiauto, the Remington 1100 is hard to beat... Ya can probably find one of them at a semi-reasonable price too... Ya can take the xtra dollars and start reloadin for trap and skeet with your Mec 600 jr (...that's what we did years ago, anyway....). Have fun... leroy

McConell wuz bought with the $2 B (....that's 2000 million, folks...) Corps of Engineers project dollars for the locks on the tennessee and ohio rivers... By the way, the great Lamar Alexander helped him with this... McConnell is all them things you are thinkin of but are too polite to put in print... He is a career politico who has never had a "real job"... He needs to go; just like lamar and corker does... Mark's post about the "Lesser Democrat" party is exactly right... These "establishment republicans" are nothin but apparatchiks and enablers to the Democrat party who worship the god of power and nothin else... They are ok as long as they get a piece of the pie... I intend to do my best to back anyone who runs against this trash... Remember, there are elections in 2014 and 2016... Vote early and often, the Democrats and the Establishment Republicans will... libertarian tea party leroy

Check this out: http://totalfarmandfence.com/asphalt-premium-fence-paint-gallon-p-359.html It would appear that "barn and fence" paint is an asphaltic type paint... That's a good thing... Asphalt is a good wood preservative and never changes color... I would go to the coop and look around for some paint... RE: Straight lines... Use a string and a line level... Set the posts first; then string the line to set the top rail... leroy

Here is a "real" one here: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.antiquearmsinc.com/images/colt-1911-us-model-1912-holster-early-production-ww1-mexican-punitive-expedition-villa-1916-us-army/colt-1911-us-model-1912-holster-early-production-ww1-mexican-punitive-expedition-villa-1916-us-army-6.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.antiquearmsinc.com/colt-1911-us-model-1912-holster-early-production-ww1-mexican-punitive-expedition-villa-1916-us-army.htm&h=1698&w=1000&sz=175&tbnid=lurP4Bp9_ky8OM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=80&zoom=1&usg=__Ytg_hJFMGj0VMkBLL6z0HkQ16C0=&docid=0WEiwtNtF_E2PM&sa=X&ei=8NJfUpz-CZOr4AOnkIFA&ved=0CDoQ9QEwBg Circa 1916.... enjoy... leroy

Jeff: Take a look at one of these from here: http://flashlightconnection.com/Dereelight-Flashlights/Dereelight-DBS-Cree-XM-L-versions/Dereelight-DBS-T-Cree-XM-L-Flashlight-Warm-White-p422.html The Dereelight stuff is good stuff... I've had one with an extender on it (...it adds battery time and makes the light more easily carried...) for several years... I can stand on my back deck and illuminate utility poles on the lower street (...probably 250 ft away...) like it's daylight... They are a great light and they are well built... As to the flashlight Connection guy; i've bought stuff from this guy for several years; he is a good guy... I would avise buying some rechargable li-ion batteries and an inexpensive charger... They work like a charm... PS-- If ya get interested in this flashlight thing; go to Candlepower Forums... You'll learn more than ya ever wanted to know about this flashlite stuff.... hope this helps a bit... leroy

When in doubt on sharpening steel; always use diamond... It always works... I've gotten to where i sharpen everything with DMT bench stones... They are well worth the money... The other stuff works well too; but ive grown pretty fond of the old time way with the bench stones... For a recurve, there is a great DMT tool that looks like a big half cone... I've also discovered diamond paste on hardwood (...or smooth leather...) will finish off an edge quickly... leroy

If i remember right; the Ted Williams brand wuz a sears brand from the 50's... I cant remember what mfr built the shotgun... They are a neat peice of history... Well worth (...ithink, at least...) what ya gave for it... congratulations... leroy

Glad to have ya!!! .... Welcome.... As others have wisely opined; Congratulations on your escape from the "sourlands"... Nashville is a neat place.... leroy

Like HK said; these things tend to multiply if ya like knives... I'm a great ESEE fan myself; along with the knife-connection scales, they are great... They dont cost an arm and a leg, they take a great edge, and they are made in a variety of sizes that are, in fact, useful... We've got several of them tucked away in the jeep, in camera bags, and shootin bags... They are a great thing... Enjoy... leroy

I like it!! No home should be without one... I'm sure you will teach here how to shoot it well.... Keep up the good work... leroy

I'm glad you are there, and evidently thinkin about what all that symbolizes.... Everybody should take a trip to these locations and do a bit of thinkin..... Its a great and very sobering thing to go and just stand and think at these places... I'll never forget going to the Manassas Battleground and seeing the statue of Stonewall Jackson; erected (...i think...) on the location where he earned this nickname "Stonewall".... History is very important; and a goodly portion of this country has forgotten (...or never knew just how and just what happened...)... The truth is that we are still reaping the harvest of and feeling the effects of the politics of the civil war at this very time in history; over 150 years later... What we are seeing on the political and policy scene today is round two of Civil War Reconstruction.... The parties have changed; but not the goals... The goals are to punish those who would believe that the Constitution says what it means and that free men are, in fact, free to decide their political course at the local level without feeling the effects of special interest or the heavy hand of outsiders and proffiteers... What we have now is federalism on steroids where the "best and brightest" tell us delightful rustics what to do and how to do it... The fact is that Obama is, indeed, like Lincoln; he just aint called out the troops (...yet...)... He has just called out his lackeys from the NPS and the DC police.... leroy

Hickenlooper actually thought he had a chance?!?!?!

Folks: I believe there is a day commin, and commin soon, when the EBT cards will be turned off and the individual states will handle this sort of thing thru block grants at the state level... Wait until that hits... There will be some real growlin, but it wont make any difference... I say:"...let it happen and happen soon...". leroy

Hickenlooper actually thought he had a chance?!?!?!
leroy replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thanks for posting this... Hickenlooper symbolizes all that is wrong with the limp wristed hippie wannabee trash that wuz incubated in kalefornia and imported to colorado and other places out west.... The overbearing, condescending attitude and breathtaking stupidity is great to watch if ya are in the mood... It provides great entertainment... I cant imagine why the citizens of colorado are puttin up with this puke... leroy the "un-hickenlooper" -
OS: RE: cocking the 238... I'm one of them "unsafe" old time guys who wuz used to cocking a 1911 from the "hammer down" or on half-cock on draw ALA the old single action army days... This style of gettin ready to shoot with your ole 1911 is now out of favor due to our "newer, safer, better, more erudite mindset"; and is looked down upon by the 1911 police... I have been chastised and thrashed as a heretic, a nincompoop, and a generally undesirable son of perdition because of doin this sort of thing by the "1911 cooper method enforcers" and disciples and apparatchiks of the great Clint Smith right here on this forum; but im all better now... I'm kinda like the late Robert Byrd who wuz once in the KKK; but was rehabilitated for doin and sayin the right things.... With that background in mind; i originally wuz worried (...like you...) about carryin my little pocket pistol "cocked and locked"; so i tried to cock the 238 on draw; but my thumb is too big and the rowel hammer on the 238 is too small... I never could master the "cock on draw" thing with the 238; so i had to go to the "cocked and locked" thing... To make matters worse; im also a lefty and my little pistola has a right handed safety... That has caused me to learn to shoot "wrong handed"... I guess ever little dark cloud has some sort of a silver lining.. That's why your PM9 is such a great solution to the pocket carry thing... No "wrong hand"; no need to knock the safety off or to "cock on draw"... Just reach and get it, and (...God forbid...) go to work if need be... leroy

OS: RE: I carry mine "cocked and locked"... Sig did a good job with the safety on this little pistol.. Mine is firm with a good detent when the safety is applied and let off... Ya need to work a bit with your thumb to knock the safety off... My pocket holster covers the safety; so it has to be drawn to be knocked off...Ive been carryin it for the last two years plus; and the safety has never been disengaged unless i disengaged it... RE: The PM 9; i dont think ya could do better... I been lookin for one myself (...at the "right price"; of course....) so i could gift either my 238 or the PM to my 24 year old for pocket carry... leroy

I'm a SIG 238 fan myself... I have one of the more humble ones (...nitrolon, walnut grips...) that stays in a D M Bullard pocket holster from putting my pants on to takin them off... They are the best of the "pocket pistols"... It is more compact (...width wise...) than my beloved j frame smith 36 and some of its j frame brethren layin around the house... It shoots my hot handloads like a dream and is deadly accurate... It's everything a pocket pistol should be... I highly recommend them to anyone who feels the need to carry a pocket pistol... leroy

The feds cannot unilaterally establish martial law... the governor of the state has to request federal troops in the rare event that the state government becomes unable to do it's job... I doubt that martial law will ever be declared anywhere but in a blue state with the current regime in power.... leroy
