  1. The dog was created by God to give mankind an object lesson in unconditional love.... Your dog loves you no matter what.... It's no accident that "dog" is "God" spelled backwards.... He is a very handsome pup.... Enjoy him!!!!   leroy
  2. I need one too...!!! Looks ta me like they are the ultimate 45ACP.... I've got his little brothers (...glock 33 and 27...)... I can carry them in a kydex hip holster from AHolster or a great IWB (...leather...) from Andrews Custom Leather Pictures here:  They are a bit pricey but ya cant beat 'em....   http://www.andrewsleather.com/macdaniel2.htm   I just got a kydex OWB for a Glock 20 from this guy :http://www.rkbaholsters.com/Kydex.html   All that bein said; im round and wear loose clothes... I can carry most anything...   leroy

  4. Ole Fred wuz no more a Christian than i am a chinese aviator (...and i aint one....)..... He gave great occasion for the haters of God to blaspheme Him... He will now answer for those heinous deeds done in the flesh in the Name of God.... The lesson here is to be careful what you are and what you present yourself to be.... Jesus said:...."....By their fruits you shall know them...."....  Ole Fred's fruits are pretty ratty....   I'm glad he is gone.... leroy

  6. The only entities that can violate the law with impunity are the operatives of the gubmt that are sworn and tasked with enforcing such laws... The fact is that the gubmt is above the law because it enforces the law; and to think otherwise is foolish... Nowadays there is no place that is safe from this scourge... Look at the CIA hacking of the Senate... The only fix is to clean out the whole bunch; bureaucrats, apparatchiks, and elected ones "en masse"; which most likely aint gonna happen...   leroy the isolationist

  9. There has been enough windbaggery here to fill the whole German Zeppelin fleet and enough BS pontificating on the role of Law Enforcement to adequately fertilize a 10,000 acre tomato patch... This little series of posts is simply the latest crop of pontification....   Some here believe that there is this idealistic "picture on the wall" of law enforcement that depicts the individual officer as, in fact, blameless, upright, and pure in thought and action;  always doing the right thing for the right reason.... Thankfully, some, if not a majority are doing just that... There is also a "picture on the wall" that depicts "...the law..." as, in fact pure, blameless, and totally right all the time.... To which i say to both a hearty "...baloney...!!!"... Both these pictures (....law and law enforcement...) are fantasy and casual observation will prove me right... There are "unjust laws" and "unjust upholders and enforcers of law"; although the latter seem to be a distinct minority (...thankfully...)....   It appears that the question at hand is what should be the response to "unjust law"...?  The worshipers of the law among us would tell you that you let the legislative process and legal process handle the problem; and to that; even i agree...   The real question is what and exactly how do you as a law enforcement officer do in the mean time (...the period between the identification and revision of "unjust law"....)... Some say that the law enforcement officer (...who is first a citizen and secondly a law officer...) should zealously enforce the "unjust law" ; and that they are absolved of wrongdoing for this zealous enforcement of the law... To which i strongly disagree.... Suppose for a minute that there was and armed confrontation in a particular state while enforcing an unpopular and "unjust law"; and people were killed as the result of that action?.... Are those who participated on both sides of this confrontation absolved of wrongdoing while enforcing this "unjust law"?   I think not...   Wouldn't it be smarter, more humane, and more sensible to carefully consider the cost of the method of enforcement (...e.g. shooting confrontation vs dialog, vs delay in enforcement...) than to simply say " ....yeah; we'll go get that lawbreakin trash for ya and make an example of them while we are doin it. We might even kill or maim a few of 'em if they don't mind our demands..."... I think that is exactly where the more sober, thoughtful, and fair minded within the law enforcement community in Connecticut are at just now...   Finally, to all here i say: ...."Be glad the God of Heaven has delivered ya from havin to make that decision on a personal basis..."... Ya just might have to find out whether ya have a backbone or not and whether you can put what is right above that which law has mandated... Remember the sobering words of the sheriff in that cinematographic masterpiece "Oh Brother, Where are Thou": "....The law is a human institution..." (...that means it aint perfect....)...   Here's hopin that the folks up in Connecticut (...or anywhere else in this country for that matter...) don't have make that decision.... I'm a relatively old geezer and ive never seen things so tense between the citizenry and government at all levels... We are living in very interesting times....   leroy
  10. What TMF says in the post above^^^^... Explosives can be "engineered" to do different things... Each specific explosive recipe (..or explosive agent like ammonium nitrate, slurry explosives or dynamite...) can be engineered for the best results in doing the task at hand...  That's what the big explosive manufacturers do all the time... They have field application engineers that will help ya plan for what you want to do (...presuming it's legal, that is....).... Examples are quarries, road construction, underwater blasting, open pit mining; etc... etc... . Dynamite comes in differing grades and can be tailored to various construction and excavating related tasks...   leroy
  11. Zeke is right... I would order from Underwood if ya cant find anything ya like locally....   leroy
  12. There is a jury charge that has fell out of favor that essentially says that each juror has the responsibility to look at the "...justness of the law..."; which is called Nullification in jury instructions... I think there is a link between jurys considering "Nullification" and the citizenry considering unjust laws...   Law enforcement has no obligation to enforce "unjust" or "rogue law"; just as no member of the military has an obligation to execute an illegal order...   The idea that somehow taking an oath to uphold the laws of the state without this included is very dangerous and is the basis of the defense that the Nazi apparatchiks used at Nurenburg.... They said they "were following the orders of the government"... They were convicted of war crimes anyway.... For LEO and officers of the courts;" following orders" is not an adequate defense against crimes committed while "enforcing unjust laws"....   At the end of the day; the electorate (...the citizenry...) determines the laws and the lawmakers... Not the "sworn to uphold" officers of the state... Are there some apparatchiks of state government willing to enforce these "unjust laws" just because they are laws?   Sure there are... Are they immune from punishment and recall if they do these things?  No; they may pay a price for these actions....  Should LE or a citizen follow "unjust laws"?... Academically and ethically speaking, ..."no"... In actual practice; some folks are weak and will comply...  Is LE doing the right and ethical thing by enforcing an "unjust law"...?   Of course not... Are there some LEO that will enforce "unjust laws" just because they are laws..?  Of course; there always have been... Are those LEO's that stand up and say they will refuse to enforce an "unjust law" betraying their oath of office...? No... I dont think so...   leroy
  13. Some random musings to think about that i think are relevant to the "unconstitutional restrictions" on the right to bear arms in Tennessee and Connecticut --- States rights vs Federal Gubmt:   RE:   The Tennessee Constitution and "...regulating the wearing of arms..." plus the Supreme Court's later decisions RE: "...limitations on the second amendment....  Are these laws, in fact, constitutional and to they limit the plain reading of the Second amendment...?   On a personal basis and because as i'm a radical isolationist libertarian and a believer in the plain reading of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights; I don't like the idea that the state can "...regulate the wearing of arms with an eye toward keeping the peace..." as the Tennessee State Constitution says; but that has been the law since post civil war reconstruction.... It was obviously put there by a government made up of politicos who were willing to disregard the plain reading of the Constitution and the Second Amendment for political purposes and basically suspended the second amendment as a civil war punishment....To say otherwise is to ignore history...   It's very interesting that this provision of the Tennessee Constitution (...or any other old confederate state i know of....) has not been repealed... It has simply been modified by the adoption of 'Shall Issue" permits to carry weapons; which i count a good thing... The Supremes of late have simply affirmed that you cannot completely eliminate the "right to bear arms" in its rulings and has said that the individual states can "regulate the wearing of arms".... That is, in my view, the present state of the "right to bear arms" and the "wearing of arms" law in the USA to date...   Simply said; you have a right to keep and bear arms as a Constitutional right ALA the Second Amendment.... The state (...your state...) has the right to "regulate the wearing of arms"; no matter how silly or oppressive the restrictions may be to some sector of the population ALA the Connecticut thing on AR's and magazines...   As to the matter of the police "refusing to enforce onerous gun laws"; i think that is a good thing...  The Connecticut thing is obviously a politically contrived power grab aimed at a certain class of citizens not too different from the post civil war thing; but no one will say that... The political class of Connecticut obviously views the citizenry of the state that are gun owners as a potential threat and as a rabble to be controlled by the bayonet if necessary...   All that bein said; we live in a "weeniefied society" today; and that's a good thing... It's caused an interesting thing to happen.... The ruling class politicos have been taken aback that the citizenry and some sectors of law enforcement have taken a stand and said "no" to this overbearing move by the political class; and they cant figure how to handle it....Thankfully, the political class simply doesn't have the backbone to do the old thuggish thing and enforce the law the old time jackboot way; and i figure they wont  (...which is a good thing for all those involved, i think...)...   The second part of this is that it's gratifying to see that even in a deep blue "worker's paradise" like Connecticut that some folks can read, are offended at their government, and have the backbone to stand against what they consider an outrageous breach of government trust ... That citizenry (...both gunowners and law enforcement...) are to be commended for their stand against this idiotic law...   As to the question as to whether the these offended citizens ...."will get help from the Federal courts"... ?   I predict the answer is "...no...".    This is a "....regulating the wearing of arms...." thing and will be looked upon by the court as a state issue.... In my mind; at least, the best way for this to be solved is for it to be solved as a state issue by the electoral process... If the people of the state of Connecticut don't like the laws they have; they need to recall the sons of b****es and daughters of satan that passed this legislation ALA the Colorado thing; and i hope that is exactly what happens....   Lastly; for all our brother and sister opiners who think the State of Tennessee laws are unconstitutional.... I think they are too; and have been since Post Civil War Reconstruction; and that has been a long time...  I'm ready to change 'em; but we need a state political champion who is willing to take this on... Let's get behind him or her and let's get to work... Otherwise, we'll just have to live with what we've got...That's the same boat i think the citizens of Connecticut are in... Let's hope they decide to get rid of the trash that has brought this on them; but let's not forget how it was done and why the Federal Gubmt needs to stay out of it....   leroy

  16. My vote is for an STI Spartan....  About $700.... Spend the rest on ammo.... Get a full size all steel version... They are as good a pistol as you can find; no matter the price.... All this from an old time Colt guy...  Here's a listing from our buddy JoeBob: http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/STI_Spartan_5_0_1911_45ACP_p/gun-50450021.htm   leroy
  17. L. C. Smith was one of the "top tier" side by side shotgun companies... Right up there with Lefever and Parker...   When i was a boy, i had the opportunity to handle several L C Smiths that my dad's brothers used for bird hunting... They are a high quality shotgun; and some of them are rare... They all are becoming collector's items because of their age alone... The shotguns i saw as a boy were old some 55 or 60 years ago...   The L C Smith was to the side by side shotgun fancier what the Winchester Model 97 was to the pump shotgun man... They were viewed as "one of the best"...   Check out this listing over at Collector's Firearms (...a real good source for pricing...) to get an idea of what an L C Smith is about: http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/side-by-side-shotguns/   For mechanical and condition questions i would recommend talking to Bob over at Predator Custom Shop in Knoxville... He has seen and fixed plenty of them...   I'll end this little note by sayin that if ya have an L C Smith, there are plenty of "pinhook" traders that would like ta trade you out of it by lowballing the price and dissing the condition; or worse yet, tellin ya that it is a "dangerous damascus barrel" and shouldnt be shot... To which i say a hearty "baloney"....... The truth is that they are tryin to steal it from ya to turn around and sell it to a collector or hold onto it for their collection....   Up into the thirties, damascus barrels were no big deal; as ya could buy black powder shotgun (...rifle, and pistol....) ammunition...Black powder loads sat right alongside the newfangled "smokeless" ammo; and lots of old timers thought the black powder loads were beter...   If i had a good lookin (...or even a "well used", lovingly cared for...) L C Smith, damascus or fluid steel barrel; i would hold on to it; but that's just me --- i tend to do those things...   If i wuz interested in shootin it on special occasions and showin it off on beautiful fall days; i would have someone like Bob check out the barrels and i would load some lightly loaded black powder loads for it...   As ya can see, im a great L C Smith (...and old shotgun...) admirer myself... We have a great fluid steel 1887 Remington side hammer that i reload black powder loads for that my son used to use for CAS... This old gun is probably in the neighborhood of 100 years old; and it shoots like a dream and locks up like a bank vault...   There's nothin greater than the throaty "kaboom" from a good black powder shotgun blast and the great cloud of white smoke is outta sight... There's nothin like it... It is what "real" old time shotgun shootin is all about...   Hope this helps a bit... leroy

    Love my colts

They are a great thing.... Great collection.... I'm among the few geezers who remember when 1911 and "colt" were synonymous... The only other ones were those put together with essex parts... I still like 'em....   leroy
  20. It's anti-firearm (...and freedom...) jihad.... They wont quit until none of them are left... Its the overbearing, narcissistic notion that they are, in fact, the smartest people in the room; and that us serfs should just recognize it and bow down... They cant afford to abandon the narrative... Their self-worth will be destroyed... The good news is that they are takin a pretty good whoopin now...   leroy
  21. I understand... I would look at upping the powder charge a hair more if ya still have tumblin problems while keepin a close watch on the swelling of the base of the spent rounds...   I would recommend takin a dial or digital caliper and measurin the diameter of a freshly resized round right above the extractor groove and noting the reading... I would measure my spent reload hulls at the same place after shootin them and watch for signs of expansion there...   When i saw 0.002 or more expansion in the fired cases; i would quit goin up and back the load down a couple of tenths of a grain...   The limit is generally taken at .002; and some even say .0015; but ya need a real tenth reading micrometer to read those kinds of numbers... A regular $25.00 dial or digital caliper will read to a thousandth (0.001) pretty easily...   Now, havin said all that; some folks simply aint comfortable with goin above published reloading data (...and some of 'em may well speak up about this method...); and i understand that... The fact is that the ballistic guys determine the upper limits of lots of reloads by measurin the case head expansion many times; especially in rifles...   Hope this helps... leroy
  22. The russians will do as they please in the Ukraine and no-one (....except the Ukrainians...) will stop it...  Sevastopol and all the territory on the north edge of the black sea is all part of the old USSR territory... Sevastopol was traditionally the southern deep water port for the russian navy... There are lots of ethnic russians livin there... The real loosers in this will be the poor Ukrainians...   I hate ta see it happen; but there is nothin anybody can do, no matter who is in charge here in the states... Ukraine is next door to Russia.... Us tellin the russians anything about the Ukraine would be like them tellin us about mexico or canada....   leroy
  23. Just got a left handed dangler sheath in coyote from AZWELKE for a 4... It looks great and works just like ya think it should... The only thing i would change is i would use chicago screws on about the top two rivets; but that's a "...minor in the majors..." .  His workmanship is great... It took about 4 weeks for him to get my sheath done....   leroy
  24.   Interestin.... I would have guessed (...as ya could probably tell...) that ya might have been usin lead bullets... Since ya upped the powder charge and the tumblin seems to have calmed down; my guess is that it's low velocity causing the tumble... Upping the charge ups the velocity... I dont have a glock 21 (...but i would like to--- cant find a "lovingly cared for, lightly used one"--everybody likes them...); but we used to shoot the old Hornady 230 grain jacketed flat nose (...truncated cone...) bullets over 6.5 grains of unique and they shoot very well...   We also used 5.2 grains of Tightgroup with Remington gold dot 230's with great results... All out of a 5 inch government model 1911 and a light weight commander (...4.25 inch barrel...)... I would tend to raise the powder charge on these bullets with the glock polygonal barrel... My guess is that the faster they go; the better they shoot...   Quick update:   Just did a bit of readin about VV N310; looks to be a pretty fast powder... Faster than Bullseye and WW 321 (...or Titegroup....)...  I also took a look at the handloads.com site (...i like it, good data...); most of the VV N310 loads are for lead bullets; and are in the 4.0 or so grain charge range... There wuz one load for 230 grain jacketed bullets listed at 4.1 grains... All that bein said; i would look at using a powder that is a bit slower.... I really like Titegroup; and lots of target pistol guys like it too...   Hope this helps... leroy
  25. Ishel.... It's been my experience that with military brass (...both 223 and 308...) that if the brass has been shot out of full auto guns (...and lots of it has been...); the brass is stretched a bit as to length and it may be a tad swelled at the base; but it's nothin that cant be fixed by first resizing the brass completely and trimming it after re-size... We've done lots of 308 that way...   It's been my experience that military brass is good stuff; but you need to just go ahead and resize it (...we completely resized it and ran it thru a case gage...); then trim it to size and neck ream it as necessary; as sometimes the case mouth gets a bit thick... It will work just fine; but you cant take any shortcuts like not re-sizing it or not checking for trim to length... If i wuz shootin it in a semi-auto i would use a small base re-sizer to resize to minimum chamber size...   We always shot ours thru bolt guns; but the M1a guys always prepped their brass the same way...   Hope this helps... leroy
