Glad ta hear you boys can see the real problem.... RE; This... The way i see things this mornin; there is more than enough "small mindedness" to go around... You will note that there ain't been a hearing to sort out the facts of this case; because no one has filed suit... Since the "facts" have not been examined; i aint sure your (..or my...) version is the accepted "King James Version"; as an old boss of mine used to be fond of sayin... All that bein said; it seems ta me that your windbaggery on this subject is just like mine; its rhetoic (...which i'll freely admit to; i like it --- you may not want to admit such a thing...)... "Small mindedess" ain't just confined to those who don't see things your particular way... The "small mindedness" that you loathe so much could be very close to you... That's how i see things from the anti-ACLU and anti-"small mindedness" bunker this mornin... leroy

How do your windbag protectors and jealous guarders of the rights of the minority come down on the protection of a bunch of kids that have been harassed and called names for expressing their faith...? What about standin up for them...? http://www.wbir.com/story/news/local/scott-campbell-morgan/2014/09/19/oneida-cheerleaders-bullied-for-pregame-prayer/15911031/ leroy

I had a co-worker that asked one time in great "broken english" if he could get GI benefits... It seems he was 14 years old in 1939 and when home to Germany from America to see his grandparents... He couldn't get back home to the states and war was declared... He was drafted into the german army... We told him that, sadly, it didnt look like he was elgible... leroy

I predict the ACLU aint gonna touch this... They got what they wanted... An "official" prayerless moment of silence... As i read things, the Oneida Special School System went along with the ACLU demand... We can quibble about who "initiated the prayer"; the principal askin the chearleaders, or the cheerleaders themselves... That's a "we said, they said thing"... What you can't stop is voluntary student lead prayer, it's First Amendment in action, no matter who feels "uncomfortable" or is indignant... When these kids say this action was done based on their own initiative, this will be over... What you self appointed protectors of the rights of others ought to be outraged about is the idea that these cheerleaders can be villified and threatened for exercising their First Amendment rights, no matter the belief system... I guess it's ok for a bunch of dammed perverts and internet bulllies to send them notes because they are exercising their faith; after all, it's Christians they are kickin around... I dont know about you, but it looks like the ole double standard to me... I say there aint much to your "protection of rights" platitudinous windbaggery and stands if ya pick and choose based on your take on religion (...or the lack of it...), rather than the underlying principles... Sounds like the ole hostility to whatever you dont personally subscribe to, instead of high minded protection of principles to me, but that's just me... Your mileage may (...and apparently does...) vary... Let's sit back and watch and see what happens... leroy

I see.... How's come the cheerleaders say this: Sounds ta me like one bunch is sayin one thing and another is sayin another...It's another case of long nosed management of the business of others; along with a good dose of confusion and "we said, they said"... If the ACLU thinks the principal initiated the prayer, they can sue the school system; which i think is ignorant, because they have already aquiesced to the ACLU demand.... The school system can take action against the principal, which i think is political suicide... The only thing that can't be stopped is the student lead prayer...If the ACLU goes after the cheerleaders as "bonifide agents of the school", i think there are plenty of first amendment (...christian and secular....) law folks that would take this one pro bono... We'll see what the meddlin busybodies of the Tennessee ACLU decide to do on this one... I say, it's another case of jhadists not being able to go to sleep at nite without mindin someone else's business and shapin some remote part of the world in their sickening image... leroy

Where are we getting the data that the principal or the school sports announcer "instituted this action (...the prayer...)"...? I've searched the reports and i've found that Kevin Acres is the announcer, and that Kevin Byrd is the principal....? The way i read things; Kevin Acres (...the football announcer...) was told not do do a prayer per the instructions of the school system... He didnt... He called for a moment of silence; then the cheerleaders started the prayer... The school complied with the demand not to "endorse" religion or prayer... The cheerleaders started the prayer... That, fellow opiners, is student lead prayer... It is, in fact, protected speech under the First Amendment.... Check this out; http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2014/09/oneida-cheerleaders-give-a-poke-in-the-eye-to-prayer-ban-3032332.html Here is another account that says the same thing: http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/great-cheerleaders-take-bold-stand-football-games-moment-silence/ Here's another one: http://www.local12.com/news/features/around-the-web/stories/tenn-cheerleaders-defy-prayer-ban-recite-lords-prayer-wkrc.shtml#.VB4HOPldWSo Here is the obligatory letter sent from the TN ACLU that started all this; http://www.aclu-tn.org/release100413.html While im on the subject; i lifted this from the Tennessee ACLU website: http://www.aclu-tn.org/release101911.html I dont know about you, but it looks ta me like the defenders of liberty at the Tennessee ACLU are doin a bit of pickin and choosin about who's rights they endorse... Somehow, that doesnt suprize me, and it shouldn't surprize you either... leroy

Ya might want to think this one over a bit; i don't think that is necessarily true... The "physical harm" thing ain't aimed at those exercising their rights no matter what faith they claim, minority or not; it's aimed at those who would take those rights away by calling these kids and threatening them over exercising their right to express their faith, which you and me both know is against the law... You exercising your right to individually pray is First Amendment protected speech; no matter who the being (...or deity...) being prayed to is... It's also your right not to pray; that's protected too... In my younger days I saw first hand what the receiving end of these "threats" is like on a construction job up in kentucky during a labor dispute... I know men who recieved calls in the middle of the nite threatening them and their families...It made grown men afraid; and for damned good reason... Those makin the threats were the real deal... The only way to deal with them was by kicking them around if ya needed to... Kids should never have to be exposed to the disgraceful actions of a few idiots and jhadists who would demand that everybody see things their way... I see nothing wrong with the thrashing of those who would mistreat kids... Your mileage may vary... leroy

I think that the interesting thing here is that Eric Frein appears to be the read deal... I think it will be tough to take him at all with folks that i'm sure are very aware of his capabilities... It's indeed sad, that the trooper was killed by ambush; but im like some other folks here; i think it's interesting that the Pennsylvania law enforcement folks have decided that he, in fact, did the killin... I wonder who saw him do it..? I also wonder just what information they used to come to this conclusion so quickly...? I'm convinced that he either will not be caught quickly (...ALA James Eric Rudolph...); or they will finish him off... I sure wouldn't want to be one of those called on to hunt this guy down; if he did, in fact, do the killin... My guess is that the only side you'll hear about this is the "official" side; and that, in itself, ought to trouble a lot of folks.... I aint condoning in anyway killin anybody... Like some other folks here; i am wonderin why we put the finger on this guy so fast... Maybee we'll learn more as this whole thing unfolds... watchin leroy

The fact is that the school system can neither condone nor repress student prayer... They cannot initiate it, nor (...i think...) participate in it, lest it give the appearance of endorsement... The fact is that the cheerleaders can, indeed, pray and so can any or all of the students... It's the First Amendment in action and it has already been ruled on... The Tennessee ACLU well knows that and they are just tryin to bully the school; and they can, the administrators, that is... They can't stop student lead prayer and they well know it... As some other folks have said very well, those who are against this sort of thing are just tryin to bully and scare a bunch of kids; which, by the way, is against the law... What these idiots and bullys are tryin to do is nothin less than what the Nite Riders did after the civil war... These sons and daughters of satan need to leave these kids alone before someone catches them doin some of this "intimidatin" and gives them exactly what they are askin for... These folks are guilty, at the mininum of assault, which is a legal matter.... They also are guilty of tryin to push around someone's precious child; which is another matter all together... Oneida aint Nashville, and the indigenous natives may well take this matter very seriously themselves in a vigilantte way; and im perfectly ok with that... If there were more beatings for saying and doing stupid things, there would be less stupid actions.... As to you 'uncommitted' and unprayin folks; if these sons of b***es can make a bunch of kids quit praying thru intimidation; what makes you think they can't do the same to you...? Our prayers are with you Oneida Cheerleaders, Students, and Families.... So are our shillelagh's too... Ya that aint into prayin; just bring the shillelagh's... leroy

This is a great truth.... And even greater truth is what Dave said about "telling the truth' no matter how ugly or grotesque... You have got to tell the truth about everything... Hitler killed about 6 million or so folks; most of 'em jews... No one knows how many folks the Japanese killed in mainland china... The infamous japanese "medical" Unit 731 (.... i think...) tortured and killed thousands of chinese folks and prisoners of war... They got a pass because the commandant of this unit bargained with the US Military and brought his "notebook" to America... He is, in fact, the father of the US Army Biological Warfare program... He was not tried nor punished, because he had something we wanted; very similarly to Werhner Von Braun of german v2 rocket fame... The "king of killing" was none other than Joseph Stalin... It is thought that he may have killed over 60 million people; yet we have people in this country who believe in socialism who can't bring themselves to call him the monster he was.... Billl Clinton's Secretary of State, Madeline Albright is one of them... It's very important to know the truth about these sorts of things... All these folks were bad and should be studied... It's just a matter of degree as to how bad; and it's dangerous to assign 'degrees of bad"... Murder and torture is murder and torture; no matter the numbers involved... We need to never forget these things and look to those who would do us harm... Of late we seem to have a terrible aversion to calling folks what they are... George Bush couldn't bring himself to call radical islamists what they are because (...i think...) of fear of offending the 'moderate" arab oil states like Saudi Arabia and Kuait... Obama cannot bring himself to call Hamas what they are for reasons unknown to me, at least. We are living in the time of denial of reality... Don't be guilty of ignoring or looking away from what can kill you... The hide you save could be your own... leroy

Jay... Never shy away from controversial subjects... They are the ones that need discussing the most... As to the "historical" thing; we should all be curious enough to study the "historical"... If you don't, how will you know what actually happened and why it happened... Read some older books on the period of European history between WWI and WWII... Google the causes of the rise of Nazi philosophy and the connection with the post WWI "Freikorps" and the terms of the treaty of Versalles... The great French Field Marshall Fosch predicted that the terms of the Treaty of Versalles would produce a war with Germany within 20 years... He missed his prediction by six months... leroy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What youve just described is exactly why we need to remember what the First Amendment does and says... Schools are in a state of "hostile takeover" by folks who by and large don't believe in free speech, or the Fourth Amendment (....the right to be secure in your personal possessions within the confines of your property [...his truck...]....), and they are part of the problem; and they've managed to suppress freedom of speech under the guise of keeping order... The racebaiters and the rabble rousers have largely won the day in the public school system in lots of places; especially the usual blue inner city locations... I will agree that if ya listen to the media megaphone, the racebaiters, and the current regime in Washington you are racist by definition if you are white... The only problem is that they cant win when they take this sort of thing to court... I'll also agree that when you are on the "frontier", so to speak, (...think reliably blue territories; especially in the inner cities...); the First Amendment doesn't mean much... That's exactly why it should be so important to folks like you and me... By the way; the son and i had the distinct pleasure to visit the other day with an old boy who wuz about 50 or so years old, 6-2 or so in height, about 230 or so without an ounce of fat on him, and he was shaven slick headed... He had this great set of nazi ss runes (...the lightning bolt insignia...) tattooed on the back of his considerably sized jug head... He wasn't wearing a hat.... He wuz wearing a black leather vest and a tee shirt with various "offensive" symbols on it... No one called him out... He wasn't intimidated by anything in his surroundings; it was, in fact, quite the opposite... We were in a public place, i wonder why no one called him out for his "forbidden" symbol display...? I'd think a lot more of these "self appointed" censors if they tried calling a few people like this ole boy out instead of a bunch of kids in high school... I wonder why they didn't... HEHEHE...? leroy

Gotta call baloney on this one... You seem to be a disciple of the great Lyndon Baynes Johnson who famously said:... "if ya want to get along, ya got ta go along..."... They appear to have already whupped you bro.... leroy

jay and all.... I just cant help myself about this... I think it is obscene and completely unamerican to believe that you have to apologize for events, people, ideals, ect that some faceless, overbearing, damnable, self-appointed "they" deem to be "off limits"... When you do that; you acquiesce to the idea that your "polititically correct overseers" can determine what is "off limits" and what is "acceptable for discussion".... That's giving up a helluva lot of ground, and effectively neutering our precious First Amendment.... If you believe in free speech, the "arena of ideas", the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the First Amendment; you cannot give up this ground... I well remember several years ago in Minnesota or Wisconsin (...i believe...) that either a local or a Federal attorney wanted to sensor the speech of several Aryan Nation or Neo Nazi folks over things printed and spoken in the public square during their trial and incarceration... A Federal Judge ruled that these folks could, in fact, say whatever they wanted to say, no matter how heinous to some hearers... She said, in effect, that no one has a right "not to be offended" by the speech of others.... There was another ruling here just the other day in which a Federal Judge said that "...the speech that needs to be protected the most is, in fact, the most controversial, heinous, offensive, and troublesome speech..."... I think he is exactly right...There are no places in the public forum where the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are suspended; in spite of the various attempts of schools, universities, self appointed watchers and overseers, and quite a few politicians do just the opposite.... Your fathers and grandfathers fought in World War II against nazi (...and japanese...) political philosophies, principles and their ensuing atrocities... They discussed them freely and at length before and during the war...There were several veterans of World War I and the isolationist Republicans who thought that we should mind our own business and stay out of that war... You can rest assured that nazi goals, philosophy, and principles were discussed at length in those days before the decision was made to go to war; just as it should be... Fast forward sixty or so years and take a look at the landscape now....The apostate jewish community and the self-appointed watchers of what is "good and right" that inhabit academia, print media, visual media, special interest groups, and politics have done a pretty good job of controlling the playing field by demanding that certain things be "off limits" and not be discussed; and what we are discussing now is a great example of that... I say that nothing should be off limits nor apologized for ahead of the discussion... As the great Charles Barkley said just the other day:..."there are no words I don't use..." He is exactly right... I would go farther and say:..."there are no thoughts i dont think or discuss as I choose"... Don't acquiesce to the idea that you have to apologize for things you didn't do, nor feel the need to add disclaimers that denote disapproval when discussing things that these self-appointed watchers deem to be improper or off limits... I say; "...what if I (...or you, or anybody else, for that matter...), in fact, do believe in the principles and goals of the nazi (...or any other...) philosophy (...Henry Ford did...)... That is a right you have here in the good ole USA...You can, in fact, hold those beliefs and not be afraid to espouse them... That is exactly what the "arena of ideas" and free discussion in the public square is about... That is exactly what the First Amendment was designed to do -- to provide for free and open discussion of revellant issues.... Folks can discuss the issues, and then make an informed decision of what they believe; instead of being told by a bunch of dammed over-seers what they are to think... Those who demand that certain subjects be "off limits"are, in effect, attempting to squelch public discussion of ideas and are seeking to implant their autocratic set of ideals in their stead... There are no "forbidden thoughts" here; in spite of attempts to ban the by the would be censors who have no notion of freedom and believe that they are, in fact, the smartest people in the room and that you should breathlessly bow down to their thoughts, musings, and pronouncements; and slavishly adhere to their particular brand of overbearing dogma... I'll close this little epistle by paraphrasing the words of a forgotten (...to me, at least...) greek philosopher who said: "....It is the mark of education, intelligence, and adulthood to be able to consider a concept or idea without accepting it..." Don't fall prey to the "apology in advance" ideas put up by those who would muzzle your speech... I think i'll take a baby aspirin and take a little nap now.... leroy, the geezer who uses all words and considers all ideals and concepts no matter how heinous to some observers....
