  1. Good stuff... It doesnt matter what the "sheep" think... It's the "arena of ideas" and "freedom of expression" thing man... The hallmark of a free society... Here's my new cap patch... http://www.gadsdenandculpeper.com/confederate-tactical.html ... leroy
  2. I'm like lots of folks here... Got a pile of knives, and like 'em all...I'm also a "lefty", and use these knives left handed...   RE: "Best-least expensive knives"... I think the best bang for the buck is this knife here....http://kershawguy.com/products-page/low-priced-imported-items/cqc-4kxl-model-6055-new-emerson-colab/  .. if ya like a big knife (...i do...)...; or this knife here....http://kershawguy.com/products-page/kershaw-blems/leek-stainless-serrated-1660st-blem/  ... if ya like a smaller knife.... Ole Kershaw guy is a princely guy that is great to deal with, as are many other on-line knife dealers..   My usual edc is generally a spyderco paramilitary or a ZT350... They are the right size for me... I also keep a slip joint like a case hawkbill, or a queen congress pattern (...4 blade..), or a swiss army knife like this guy ...http://www.cutleryshoppe.com/victorinox08201281rpioneer-orangealox91mm-cutleryshoppeexclusive.aspx   ... in my pocket...    As ya can see, im as bad a knife junkie as a gun junkie... Been that way since i wuz a boy, and that's been a long time ago... The secret is to handle 'em, use 'em, and pick the one(s) out ya like the best... While im on the subject; im bad to carry a spyderco endura too... Any color, any flavor; or a spyderco manix 2... They are another "just the right size" knife for me, at least...   Have fun pickin your own special knive(s) out...   leroy

    10mm?

I like 'em... Consider them a 15 or so shot mid-range 41 magnum that doesnt cost $800... They are ugly, but very effective at what the do... Buy without reservation...   leroy
  4. I'm with OS on this one.... Armstrong appears to be in deep dookie if the indictment is true... I read it through, and if he has done this, he is even a bigger crook than i suspected... I think this is interestin in that the investigation started in 2006 (...as i remember...), and has took till now to be completed ... Another thing to think about;... ya have a democrat us district attorney in east tennessee goin after a fellow democrat; it must be pretty heinous stuff, or Armstrong made the wrong people mad...   As OS opined, good for him...
  5. I've been burnin powder in single and double actions and 1911s since the seventies... Thousands if not 10 thousands of rounds fired, mostly reloads... The "jamb quantities" I've experienced in these last 35 years are almost nil for the revolvers; with the biggest offender being primers not being fully seated... The jambs in 1911's are considerably higher, mostly due to bad magazines... I am baffled and incredulous over the incidents of "revolver malfunction" vs semi autos... The only semi auto I think is anywhere near the reliability of a revolver is a Glock... Your mileage may vary.... leroy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. All... I lifted this from the NRA-ILA article...   My guess is that the italicized, underlined portion of the law is the key to this one... I believe (...that means i dont know...) that the supremes are sayin, in effect, that you unequivically have the right to bear arms (...on your person...); but that the local government can put conditions on the storage of guns based on "community norms"; whatever that is...  I think the supremes are walkin the fine line that the federal gubmt created just after the civil war, when they said, in effect, that the "regulation of wearing of arms" could be done...   By not touching this, they have, in effect, left the door open for the state to do something similarly to what has been done in tennessee by the 'pre-emption' of idiotic city and county laws that do what the San Francisco county law did...   When enough folks in kalefornia get enough of this idiocy, it will stop... If it doesnt, they will have to move ta texas or somewhere in the real united states of america...   leroy
  7. Ray... We load lots of 44 special on our dillon too... I've never had any trouble with re-sizing or belling... I always completely resize and use carbide dies on pistols... The carbides are "slicker" than the steel dies (...i think, anyway...)...   In your particular case; it sounds like there may be a machining mark on the belling die plug... I would pull it out and give it a good goin over with a magnifying glass and see if i could see the mark... If the plug is carbide, i would call dillon for a replacement... If it's steel, i would think about polishing it out out if i didn't want to send it back...   Let us know what ya find...   Hope this helps... leroy
  8. They all work; and work very well... I like semiautos and revolvers both... The trick is to learn how they work and to learn to shoot 'em and shoot 'em well...   leroy
  9.   Whisper is right... It is an "infringement" on your Second Amendment right... It's a non-starter.... More red meat for the "...children of lower estate..." to chew on by another demorat demigogue...   leroy
  10. Dolomite is exactly right.... This stuff has already been ruled on in the federal court.... Regulating ammo with the intent to limit it is tatamount to restricting the right to bear arms... That has already been ruled on.... it's a "no-no"....     leroy
  11.   I love Enfield's great quip here... I used to work with a guy who wuz rotund (...like me...)... He regularly carried a commander sized 1911 in the hip pocket of his hi back overalls... It worked like a charm... I sometimes carry a baby glock (...a 27 or 33...) in the hip pocket of my carhartt dungarees... It works like a charm....   leroy
  12. Great job... I love the shape of the grip scales...   leroy
  13. Thats a great job... What a wonderful gift for a friend...!!   leroy
  14. As several of out brother opiners have said, loading for revolvers is, indeed, easier than for semiautomatics... Loads are more flexible... The most overlooked thing is a good crimp... All ammo needs some form of crimp... The crimp thing is much easier with the revolver loads... Make sure ya resize the brass before loading and get a good crimp on the completed round, and everything will be ok if you do your job well....   leroy
  15. I'm  a great Larry Potterfield admirer and cheerleader for Midway... I've done lots of business over the years with them...I'm old enough to have some old "Midway" headstamped brass layin around...   admirin leroy
  16. Truly a great thing...!! Enjoy...   leroy
  17. I like it...!!  Must have been built as a hungarian barbecue pistol...      leroy
  18. Ron... Dont worry too much about "bad brass" from reloading... If ya load factory duplication loads, ya will loose far more brass than ya will "ruin"...I've got 45ACP brass that has been loaded at least 8 times...   leroy
  19.   True... So far, that's the only thing we've agreed on...   leroy
  20.   You are impolite and cant read very well... Check out post #64 for the Westboro answer...     leroy
  21.   The First Amendment and censorship are not irrelevant to this issue... We can quibble about the "First Amendment" application here; but the greater principle is the principle that the hallmark of a free society is the principle of free speech, expression, and association by everyone...period... It's meant to be done without anybodies' interference; be it private, religious, governmental, or anything else ya can think of...Even well meaning "overseers" that see and think things that us delightful rustics are incapable of seeing and thinking...   One of the bed-rock premises of the founding of this country is that everyone can have his, her or it's say in the public forum or 'arena of ideas' about any issue... The First Amendment is a subset of the greater principle that codifies the principle that the gubmt can't meddle in the free speech thing... Tyrannys dont have that... Try havin a "Draw Muhammad" contest in Saudi Arabia, or even in Europe and see what happens...   Here is your original post verbatim... I added the underlines, brackets, and the numbers... Number (...1...) is a judgement about what other's motives are... It's subjective...It may or may not be right... What if the goal of the organizers was to demonstrate the differences between muslum society and a free society...? The second (...2...) is your own answer... It's an opinion... Number (...3...) is what "you wouldn't do";...What "you or i would or wouldnt" do is irrelevant to what "they" decided to do... Number (...4...) is bad manners...    You had your say in a semi public forum, and i had mine... We can agree to disagree on this one... Ya seem to be doin the same thing that the "best and brightest" do; namely, tellin us delightful rustics what to do and think; along with a little dose of put down...  It still sounds a bit dismissive and elitist ta me...    While i'm on the soapbox; you really ought to take a Dale Carnegie course to clean up that tendency to make these backhanded attempts at put downs... It wont work on me... If ya want to have a "polite conversation"; be polite... It works ever time it's tried...   leroy
  22. The way I see things ya missed the point, or ya don't like it....We have freedom of speech and association in this country... Ya seem to be advocating censorship in the name of " the common good"; along with a pretty good dose of '"...I know best"...I think that sounds a bit elitist ta me... Are you gonna be the censor for TGO only, or everybody at large...? By the way, I'm all for havin everybody have their say... Even the Westboro children... The point is that you nor anyone else is a "censor" in this country... Ya can argue about and criticize the venue and the value of the "exhibition", and have your day in the "arena of ideas"; just like they have theirs... Ya can't "censor" it, nor can the gubmt... Ya may have missed the discussion of the First Amendment in your civics class... Leroy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23.   suspicious makes an excellent point here; he is dead right....   Why should we be concerned that some nut fringe group doesnt like somethin here in this country...?   We have the Bill of Rights that guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of association... If you decide not to do somethin just to placate some bunch of sons and daughters of satan who dont happen to like what you are doin; just what kind of freedom is that...?   Ya just as well be livin in a police state or a tyranny if you "self muzzle" yourselves so as not to offend some son of a b**ch who doesnt happen to like what ya are sayin...   We can quibble about the "wisdom" of havin a Muhammad cartoon gathering and exposition'; but i'm ok with it, and you should be too...   I say that you cant claim to be an American and not be willin to stand up for freedom of speech, no matter how blasphemous and heinous to some hearers... We dont censor speech here, we grade it and discuss it...If you censor it, it's a short step to controlling it... That, my friends, is tyranny...   I say, the hell with the muslums and anyone else who doesnt like it... Let em go where they demand those sorts of things; it aint here...   leroy
  24. I like the metal roof thing... I think we are gonna do one when we can get the son out of TTU...   leroy
  25. I like 'em... There is one in my hip pocket right now....   leroy
