  1. res... RE: This... I've got powder that's older than some of the 30 somethin year old posters here; and that aint meant to be demeaning... It's simply true... It's pretty easy to tell if the powder is bad... I always smell for the acetone type smell (..smells like a solvent... and is...) and look ta see if the powder is still gray colored... If it is, its ok... If it smells funny (...acrid or bitter...) or has a red or brownish tinge, i wouldn't use it... I've got canisters of DuPont IMR type stick powder that is at least 30 years old...    RE:  The 38 special reloads thing... My "go to" reload with 158 grain hard cast bullets is 5.3 grains of Unique...I also like the old 38 44"High Speed"  load of 12.0 grains of 2400, but ya need a big pistol to shoot these in (...the "44" referred to the 44 frame revolvers the loads were designed for...)... That's most all we use... I think a jacketed bullet is a waste in a 38 special; but that's just me... Right here is a great 38 special reloading treatise from a guy i like alot...   http://www.sixguns.com/tests/tt38spcl.htm   Hope this helps a bit... leroy
  2.   Amen brother...!    Well said...   Thank you for speakin out...   admirin leroy....
  3. Here's a geezer view... We used to shoot a lot of 308 thru bolt guns... A 308 is, in fact, a long range round... I think it's a waste of time to shoot a 308 less than about 250 yards... They are deadly accurate out to 1000 yds...witness the use by the military in the olden days... I like the 300 blackout, but comparin it to a 308 is like comparin a pistol cartridge to a rifle cartridge... They simply aint in the same league...   leroy
  4. I got one of these too 1m.... They are a great thing... A "real" pistol...   leroy
  5. Woogie Boogie...!   Smith airweight hammerless in a pocket holster... Right front pocket...   leroy
  6. Wing...   I've got several shoulder holsters; Bianchi old time shoulder (...X18... i think...) and a real good military built by El Paso saddlery... Back in the long ago, used to carry a 1911 in the Bianchi... The problem with it wuz it just aint comfortable... I never could get mine adjusted to suit me... The pistola gets heavy and it is somewhat of an aggravation down towards the end of the day... If you are barrel chested, or have short arms; a bianchi aint as easy to reach for as you might think... I've never tried the newer "balanced" type shoulder rigs that have the pistola on one side and the mags or speed loader on the other... My suspicion is that they are a bit more comfortable for a small pistola; not a large one like the Glock 20....Weight is weight no matter where it's hung... Now to the military by El Paso... They work like a charm.. I like 'em a lot... They work very well sittin down or riding, because they are in the right place for ya ta get your hands on... The problem... Mine wuz $100 plus a bunch of years ago (...i'm an El Paso Saddlery "junkie"...)...   Havin said all that,; here is a bunch i really like.... http://clarkforkleather.com/leather-chest-holster/   I intend to order one of these shortly for my Glock cannon... I like 'em lots... I believe they will be lots more comfortable... I can't see givin $175 plus for the same thing from some of the "more well known makers"...   Hope this helps....   leroy
  7. Wing... Both mine still have the stock recoil spring in 'em... I'm kinda like you... Probably need ta look at a bit heavier one... I like the idea of a rifled barrel to shoot hard cast linotype loads out of... Would like to try some 200 grain truncated flat noses in them; and load 'em pretty heavy... I'm kinda thinkin about a Storm Lake barrel; they are brother Tennesseeans right here in East Tennessee... http://www.storm-lake.com/ ... My guess is that their aint a nickel's worth of difference between any of them... They all work very well...   leroy
  8. Wing... I got his brother plus a gen 3... The gen 3 has "Big Dot's" on it... i really like them... Order ya some Underwood ammo... I like the 180 to 200 grain stuff....   leroy
  9. Sometimes brutality and corporal punishment is the answer...!!   leroy
  10. Thanks for posting this...I think it's hilarious that this demorat son of satan has had to back-track... I loathe and despise Terry McAluffe... He symbolizes all that is wrong with politics and the overbearing "we're so right" class of liberal trash.... I think it's great that the citizens of VA were heard loud enough by the state legislature to over-run this sickening piece of Northern Virginia trash... The people of VA deserve better than McAluffe... Maybe they are wizin up a bit...   Here's hopin... despisin leroy
  11.   This is a great truth... The "inner city" population are gonna have to clean up their own messes... I stay away from these "problem areas" and i would advise everyone else to as well... Arm yourselves just in case they go to roamin a bit; and they do...   Non carin leroy....
  12. Fee grabbin... It's about the money no matter what the clownish Knoxville Chief of police says... The best way to get even with the city of knoxville is to stay out of it... I drive the speed limit where ever i go in knoxville and most everywhere else... It saves lots of problems...   leroy
  13. The "moonshine-Mountain Dew" thing is interestin.... I'm like some other brother and sister posters here...?  There could be some charges commin from this...   leroy
  14. It must be a moon phase thing... Need to check the almanac....   ...Toyota v6's underpowered...?  Interestin... All of mine must have been defective... They all run very well... Tacoma Twin Cab Pre-Runner and ...FJ's included...   ....FJ aint an off road vehicle...?  Interestin too... Mine is... And ive got a 99 Wrangler with a 3 inch lift and an inline 4.0...   https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=T1LNIHi9Xrg   Wonderin leroy....
  15. Pretty rowdy bunch i would say.... There has to be more to this than what is in this article...   leroy
  16. We've loaded some hard cast lead with 4.1 to 4.3 grains of Unique... They shoot very well thru the Sig 238... Check here... http://handloads.com/loaddata/default.asp?Caliber=380%20ACP&Weight=All&type=Handgun&Order=Powder&Source=   leroy
  17. Find yourself an older, lovingly cared for jeep wrangler with a hard top and ac..Install the gizmos on it ya like;for creature comfort and fun (...insulation in the top... Loud radio...other stuff...) as ya got the time and extra cash.. . After drivin it a while and goin thru a few slick spots; you won't want any of these other "mini SUV/AWV" gizmos anymore...  I've never been without one...    all wheel leroy... the jeep affectionado...
  18. This is grandstandin pure and simple... It's nothin more than shameless panderin to these single mothers who cant believe their little boys can grow up and turn in murderin, rapin, pillagin monsters... Guns aint the problem; absentee fathers, no fathers, and a matriarchial society that chooses to not to address the real problems are...    leroy
  19.   Enfield... What Ropin said above has been exactly my experience withe the sig 238... I carry mine in the front pocket in an old roughout D>M. Bullard pocket holster... The sig is well made and the safety detent is solid... In my opinion; ya simply cant buy a better external hammer 380 than a sig... Havin said all that, i could go for a hammerless S&W pretty quickly... I like 'em.... By the way... This is the holster i use... Mine is a roughout... http://store.dmbullardleather.com/catalog/product/2720d3077c3d4b8da17a2c2e2bd05e33   Hope this helps... leroy
  20.   It's apples and oranges man... Sorry... -- cant buy that one... leroy
  21. It don't matter...  A good arguement is a good arguement; regardless of the purpose for which it's used... You don't discard a particular line of thinkin just because it was used to make some case that is either morally wrong or one you don't happen to like...   leroy
  22. If the thing we're discussing is finally made law and challenged... I predict this is the argument that will be used... Ken did some very good thinkin here... leroy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. What we've got here is a circular firing squad, along with circular reasoning, along with a dose of runnin off into a bunch of pasture fields that dont matter...   The fact is that the government (...local, state, and federal...) has seen fit to meddle in "property rights" for those engaged in public commerce... Whether anybody likes it or not, for better or worse, no one has changed that as yet...   If you are the proprietor of a business that serves public customers, the gubmt tells you lots of things and makes em stick with the force of law...   The gubmt tells you to have certain food standards (...if you are a resturant..), to have a certain size parking lot, to have restrooms meeting certain standards, defines insurance requirements, personnel requirements, fire code requirements; the list is endless... Friends, that is, in fact, gubmt meddlin and injecting requirements into your "public business"... The fact is that the gubmt in in the "business of regulating business"...   If the gubmt can demand that you be liable for some poor hapless soul (...your customer...) stepping on a wet noodle and breaking his butt and make it stick (...and they can... that's why you have insurance; which is mandated by gubmt...); what is the difference in it tellin you that you are responsible for the safety of your patrons should they be hurt as the result of your demand to take responsibility to disarm them and make them vulnerable to mayhem...?  We can quibble about whether gubmt should be meddlin in this or not; but the fact remains... They are and have been for a long time...    I will grant that you can either be a "king in your castle" or a "tyrant"  (...my words and definition..."do what i say or else...) in your own home... Your home aint a public place... As others have pointed out; if you engage in a public business, the rules change... You may not like that; but that's how it works now; no matter the argument about "property rights" trumping everything else...   I say, if you want the "meddlin in business thing" to change, start workin on your elected reps and get to changin 'em... Good luck.... I predict that you'll need it...   leroy
  24. With all due respect... You ain't pro liberty, bro... You are pro "...im the boss here and you will do what i say..." That aint liberty; that's tyranny... One person demanding that another do what he says or else...   That's ok; but with all that comes all them other responsibilities if you are in a business that is open to the public... Ya can't have it both ways... One "right" doesn't trump another "right"... They gotta be balanced unless you are a private citizen and i'm commin into your private residence or compound as an invited guest (...which i aint gonna do if you don't trust me with a firearm...)...   This proposal is a sensible attempt to balance the "right to self defense with a deadly weapon" against "property rights" in businesses open to the public; and i think it's high time some smart guy came up with this...Your mileage may vary...   leroy
  25. The examples may be a bit ignorant; but the message aint... In english:..."...If you decide to disarm someone commin in to your business, you, the business owner, are responsible if i need protection from bad things and bad guys that a gun provides..."... I've been waitin for this one to come up... I think it will settle the "Property Rights" vs "Second Amendment self defence" thing pretty quickly... It's a concept whose time has come...   watchin leroy...
