Interestin stuff Brother... When i was a boy, about 60 years ago or so; we used ta see lotsa these pistolas in both Colt and SW flavors... They were pretty popular around here in East Tennessee, for the reasons ya indicated, i think... Lotsa folks used them for hide hunting foxes and coons... Ltttle holes... Little damage to the pelt... They are a great thing... leroy...

I wonder about this myself... There is some stuff out there that seems to say that China is trying to appeal to Ki Jong's good sense... I think the Chinese are the only folks that can affect anything with North Korea... leroy...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court, which has avoided major gun cases for seven years, on Monday declined to hear a challenge backed by the National Rifle Association to Maryland’s 2013 state ban on assault weapons enacted after a Connecticut

Ya need to remember just how the Second Amendment got to where it is... The Second Amendment was, in fact, the second amendment as written originally until after the Civil War... Reconstruction state houses in each state passed restrictions on the second amendment in order to disarm certain non favored classes of folks... That's why most every state constitution has words similar to the Tennessee State Constitution that read kinda like this... "....The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, BUT, the legislature shall have the power to regulate the wearing of arms with an eye toward keeping the peace"..., or some such other platitudinous baloney... "The regulation of the wearing of arms" thing in the state house effectively put the control of the LEGAL wearing of arms and the Second Amendment in the hands of the state house politicos... That's why it's so important to watch what the state house does on this issue... That allowed the Federal Gubmt (...Federal Courts...) to "hands off" and defer judgements on the Second Amendment at the state level... The Federal Court will not outright allow the banning of arms, but they will give every leeway to each individual state legislature... That is why ya have to watch the state house actions on this issue, and that's why (...i think, at least...) these other cases were not taken by the Supreme Court... leroy -

Pick... If ya can, a tiny bit of warmth... Whether a tiny light bulb or some sort of small heating device will stop this problem... Take a look and see if ya can easily get some heat into your safe someway... It just takes a tiny bit to dry the air enough to stop this sort of thing... Drive the humidity down a bit, and the mold will go away... leroy

I hate ta here about ole Roscoe's passing Brother... I know exactly how ya feel... I'm typin this a bit teary eyed over my ole retriever, Jake... He's been gone a long time... I'm still sad... I've cried and mourned for him a bunch... Here, i think, is a bit of the reason why.... Lord Byron said it best, i think... http://www.newfoundlanddog.ca/lord-byron-and-his-newfoundland-dog-boatswain.htm With sincere condolences... leroy...

Ideas man... Ideas... Ideas are powerful... They have shaped the world... You are free because of ideas... Some are enslaved because of ideas... Man (...both the sane and insane...) does not live by "being bought by somethin" alone... Hitler was insane... Look at his ideas, and the fallout from em... leroy....

nOrlf... I can understand the "he was crazy" thing, and i can also understand the "he wuz mean" thing; he was, most likely, both of em... Havin said that; im a student of history... It so happens that in the teens and twenties, there was a string of bombings, killin, and mayhem done by Anarchist operatives... Most of em were either paid nuts or committed "One Big Union" operatives... Could it be that there are folks here in this country that could be financing and fomenting trouble...? Could it be that unstable folks are bein recruited by persons unknown to do bad things...? Somethin to think about... thinkin n watchin leroy...

I'm like Greg and some other posters here... This one seems to have simply stopped like it never happened... I think that is real interestin... We are living in some interestin times... I'm also kinda like Dolomite on this one... The "official story" sounds kinda funny to me... It's the ole "nut shoots a bunch of people... end of story" story combined with the ole "we dont know nothin, man...!" story....I aint sure it's the "King James Version" brothers n sisters... Something is very amiss here... wonderin n watchin leroy...

...Mister Bob speak great truth on case hardening colors... We are old colt guys and have seen the same results over the years... Unless your ole thumbuster is put away and not handled or used, expect the best of case coloring (...ALA Turnbull or others who use the old time methods...) to become more subdued and faded with normal handling... Ours have... leroy...

Dave hit the nail squarely on the head here...I think... While the second amendment has been strengthened recently; there are some troublesome words in state constitutions that say that, as the Tennessee State Constitution does; ..."That the state may regulate the wearing of arms (...read that "carrying arms"...) with an eye toward keeping the peace..."... Or some such nonsense... This was a Post Civil War addition to most all state constitutions that was added to disarm newly freed slaves, and other lesser children... If you watch and listen closely, what the Supremes have said up to now is in strict accordance with this principle... They will allow "reasonable" restrictions, which we can quibble about... I don't see that changing... I'm like Dave, i cant see the reciprocity thing passing constitutional muster... It should, but it wont... I think... Here's hopin it will... My guess is that it wont... leroy

Open and Concealed Carry- How do you do it?
leroy replied to Ronald_55's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Warm weather, business, or "out on the town"... Baggy pants no matter the occasion or dungaree shorts... Pocket holster... 938...238... Glock 43... "j" frame smith... Winter time or fall... Vest or short coat... Pocket holster...Coat or vest pocket... I like kydex for the glocks... Leather or DeSantis for the little semi autos and the j frames... Wouldn't turn around for the difference in em... If ya want ta go big... Get a kydex pocket holster and a subcompact glock... any flavor... I carried a Glock 33 or a Glock 27 in my hip pocket of dungarees or overalls... I ya use dungarees, get a 'real" belt... Ya will need it... The main thing is ..."...Dont leave home without 'em..."... leroy... -

I love these old 45 Colts too... A favorite, right next to the great 44 special... Thanks for the "show and tell"... I've burned lotsa powder thru the old model blackhawks in 45 colt, back when it was the latest craze... The hot loaded 45 colt is the equal of anyone's 44 mag balistically (...using the old data...)... There is no substantial difference in 'em... I don't do that anymore... Got too old and too weak ta hold em... Now the loads are in the "real" 45 colt range; with my all-time favorite loading black powder loads and soft cast bullets... We only have eleven 45 colts at the house... One smith, two colts, and eight rugers of various flavors... Ya can't have too many 45 colts... leroy...
