Anyone want to donate $35 to have me ban a whiner permanently?

Since we have moved from frivolity and enjoyment of a good laugh, to the more practical and serious side of things; ill opine about " Censorship " and " Correction "... I get the idea that we are in David's House. Some of us even pay a fee to be here. This aint " Stormfront " nor whatever the most hateful lefty forum is... it's " Tennessee Gun Owners "... A lovely place of conversation for most folk of good will who like, collect, n shoot firearms...; and there are certain proprieties we observe here for both David and us " children " here on the forum; as well as a need for the projection of certain optics for those on the outside lookin in. The most lovely place i can think of is a home. A home has responsible " parents ". Parents correct the rowdy n adjust the attitudes of the disruptive from time to time. That is simply the nature of the family thing. Havin said that; I think from time to time, that we are a bit too " squeeky clean ", but that's just me. But, on balance, as the great " Pappy Menolaius O'Daniel quipped: " Its a well run machine "... Thanks to " all y'all " who run it from a former malefactor and rabid libertarian. That is all... misdemeanerin leroy... -

Buy it..! Nothin greater... It is the father of all the 30 caliber mags and the 7 mm mag. Extra long action like a 375 H&H. The 300 H&H ruled the long range target ranges (... Think 1000 yds...) before the short mags like the wildcat 30 x 338 and the 300 win mag. Winchester built a " Bull Gun " specifically for the 1000 shooting matches. When i wuz target shootin back in the eighties, we looked for the old H&H, ya could never find one...The above is the reason why. Simply said, they are accurate and hard hitting out to astonishing ranges. They held most all the long range accuracy records until the short magnums came out. They are, indeed, a stupendous piece of long range rifle history... admirin leroy... Retired amateur rifleman and 300 H&H lover... The best i ever did wuz a 300 win nag 40X.

RE:... 458, 50 Beowulf, 450 Bushmaster... I think they are all basically the same thing. I chose the 450 Bushmaster because i like the .452 bore thing and i like that Hornaday gave em a push ( as well as Remington ). By the way, my barrel is from Ballistic Advantage; i like these guys alot... When i bought my 450 barrel and bolt, the 458 and the 50 Beowulf were " proprietary " cartridges n designs; controlled by their inventors, which made em too expensive for my taste... Tippu Jutsu (458) and Alexander (50 Beowulf ) were botique insiders with a cult following, and i dont like that on its face; but that's just me. The 450 appealed to me on another level as well... When ya get ta looking at the loadings and the energies developed by the 450, they look alot like a long barreled 454 Casull, which is where i think all this came from. I also like the straight walled case of the 450... Havin said all that, there is 50 Beowulf brass and dies down stairs in the reloading room...HEHEHE; and ive got a hogged out ejection port upper layin around as well... As to components, bullets in particular; the 450 is best by far. The 50 bullets n 458 bullets are more limited in selection and are expensive ta boot... Hornaday did the big bore AR and 450 hunting fraternity a great service with their great bullet selection fir the 450... Hope this helps explain a bit... leroy...

leroy replied to leroy's topic in General Chat
I got the Walkers...Got ta thinkin about the " in the ear " thing.. Ear plugs n ear buds tend ta irritate my ears... I'm liking the ear muffs best... Thanks a bunch for all the help. leroy. -
It dont matter... Pick one. If ya can shoot straight, the critter ya shoot will never know the difference... leroy...

Maroon. RE...Recommend a trickler? ... I like the RCBS trickler. They used ta be cast aluminum. Plenty heavy enough n smooth. Have trickled a bunch of 300 win mag loads thru em .. leroy.

An old time problem with stick powder and these powder measures. We always threw em a bit light, then trickled em on the scales to the exact weight... All the vari volume powder measures have this problem... Sigh... leroy

Rob... I load 173 grain semi wadcutters in 38 special cases for my 357 mag Ruger sheriff with 12.0 grains of 2400 regularly... It is my "carryin load " for this pistola... Its a variant of the old 38 special hi speed loads used before the 357 wuz introduced. They work like a charm. Avout 1100 fps out of the Ruger... leroy...

RE: " Optics" ... Can't give a good answer here... My 450 is iron sighted...That bein said; I would pick the one i liked... I like the low power long eye relief scopes ya use on big pistols and dangerous game rifles... They will stand the recoil just fine. I would stick with Nikon, Burris, Bushnell. leroy

Dirt... If ya really want ta use Green Dot ta use it up, i would use the 38 special data and simply ratio it up by the ratio of the case volumes. I use this trick from time to time with the 38/357 and other pistol calibers... By the way... DO NOT TRY THIS WITH RIFLE CARTRIDGES... I would start on the low side of the 38 special values and work up till i wuz satisfied by the performance of the recipe. The math based form of what i am sayin is this... (the 38 special recipe powder amount in grains) times (the 357 case volume/ 38 special case volume)... Another way is to look for an older lyman reloading gabdbook. Im guessin they seventies era handbooks had a recipe. leroy

Like Raoul said, nickel rifle brass is ok. A bit of extra slickness to make sure it feeds reliably in your weapon of choice... I used ta use it quite a bit in 222. Got a bunch of 300 BO now for my AR pistola. leroy.

Got one myself Brother. I like em because they are essentially a 454 Casull that ya can handle as a rifle. Im sure that, killin power wise, they are deadly as a drugstore. There is a pretty good selection of both ammo n reloading components available for em. I've got some prepped brass ready ta load myself. Gonna load em with some 300 grainers n Lil Gun.. Now for the bad news (...Which is minor...)... Ya need the ejection port milled out a bit on your upper if ya use a regular AR upper, or ya can just buy a pre milled one from AERO, if ya can find one. Ya also need a 450 Bushmaster bolt as well. The bushmaster cartridge head is different from a 556. I bought mine with the barrel i used... A Ballistic Advantage 16" as i remember. The second problem is (... Or wuz...) magazines. It may be a bit different now, but ya had to modify mags for em. I used the Lancer 30 rounders with a Sinclair single shot follower... That turns a $ 20 AR mag into a $45 one. Mag capacity goes down considerably. A 30 rounder will reliably feed 8 or 9 rounds as i remember. Finally, there is a 450 Bushmaster forum out there somewhere that helped me tremendously... Good luck... The Bushmaster is a great idea, especially now... leroy...

The truth of the matter is that you do, in fact, have the right to keep and bear arms... That said, it is on you to learn how to handle firearms safely and use em effectively if need be. One of the baser things about our capitalist system and the gun community and certain of those populating it is the tendency of " experts " to try to feather their business nests by proclaiming that " you aint responsible nor trained enough to handle a gun "... The inferred point us that they, in fact, are and they can help you for a FEE... This is called " salesmanship " and is OK... I say, in the old latin proverb: " Let the Buyer beware "... What aint OK is when those same " experts " lobby trashy polititians, local and otherwise, to enact laws restricting a constitutional right under the guise of " making us all safer "... I heartily join Brother Dave in his opinion that there are folks out there who need protection from thugs n predators now; many of whom aint overrun with extra dollars for " mandated training "... " Mandated training " is a crock in today's atmosphere and the Tennessee political class well knows it. Personal safety is the supreme thought on every citizen and citizen gun owner's mind now. Welcome to Dodge City, where everybody is armed and edgy. That is all... leroy
