  1. Brothers n Sisters... Am gettin ready to reload some 9mm for the first time in a long time... Ive ordered some 147 grain coated pills and would like to see about 950 to 1000 fps from them... Im thinkin that the AA published data will get ya there with AA#7. Does anyone else have any recipes they like for Unique or Blue Dot... My guess for Unique is 900 ish... Blue Dot would probably hit the 1000 mark. These will be shot thru a glock 19 and a ruger charger pistola... Thanks a bunch... luger leroy... " Ruger smeisserman "...
  2. Carry em both... Remember... " The quickest reload is a second pistola..! "... " Woodswalkin leroy ", the hillside tactician...
  3. Ya will enjoy it... Got a an old 650 myself bought from a friend who wuz downsizing. A few new parts n it wuz back in service for another 20 years or so... loadin leroy...
  4. AJ..,. Which mount are ya gonna use..? leroy...
  5. Am thinkin about red dotting one of my glock pistolas... Gonna use a Holosun 507 plus tall irons... Who do ya recommend to do the machining..? Turn around time... Any other observations...? Thanks in advance... leroy.
  6. I dont think this is what is being said. My take is " keep both eyes open, raise the pistola, and let the sights appear, shoot, look for the next target"... Cooper n all the old time gunfighters used this technique I'm thinkin. It is " guided point shooting " as opposed to " point shooting from the hip " leroy.
  7. DING... DING... DING... We have a winner... Mr Smith is dead right... All defensive shooting boils down to this... Many thanks... leroy...
  8. Brothers n Sisters... If this stuff didnt work, we would certainly know about it. It simply does work... That said, we all have preferences... The RMRs are tiny n weigh almost nothin. These things are movin very quickly from the relm of the " Play Shooters " and tinkerers to the real world. The problem i wuz havin, wuz exactly how ya use em. Im thinkin ive got that worked out now... Its the " look at the target n let the dot appear " method. Im thinkin more n more that its a real good solution... All that from an Elmer Keith n single action devotee. These guys are, indeed, small enough to carry. leroy...
  9. Robin.... Im thinkin about a Masada and a Holosun myself... RE... What grayfox said... At the end of the day, i view these gizmos as a range toy myself... leroy....
  10. We are old time single six affectionadoes... Ya cant beat em... The problem is price... Im likin the new Ruger Wrangler more n more... Its hard to beat a Ruger built pistola for 200 smacks... Buds has em now... I may bust a small piggy bank n gather one up soon... I simply dont think ya can beat em... leroy...
  11. Been re reading the posts here... David revealed an important gem here: "... A dot shooter {should focus ) Their eyes crisply on the target and the dot simply appears on the target as they bring the gun to bear, using proprioception to get it there. It's the exact same aiming technique that we humans have been using since we picked up a sharp stick [spear] and threw it at another human or an animal. Spears don't come with iron sights. We look at the target, not at the spear, and we lob that sucker with accuracy. ..." Ive found this to be true shootin the old iron pistolas n shotguns. If ya shoot with both eyes open, looking at the target, simply bring the pistola to the target, and the sights appear. This, indeed, may be the key to the red dot shooting technique... period... This works with all firearms aimed at eye level. The red dot has its clear advantage here, as it projects onto the target.. Im likin this red dot thing more n more... Thanks for all the insight... Please keep talkin... learnin leroy, the red dot toddler...
  12. Amen Brother. !!!
  13. The ultimate setup... If ya can do it, this is the way ta go. leroy.
  14. Mike... A bit of perspective here might help. Tennessee wuz a notorious " sheriff's discression to issue " state. Most did it by the " Honorary Deputy " thing when I wuz younger. It held on for a long time here. I think that is part of the howl now... " Polititians losing control of the citizenry "... Remember, Tennessee never had a post Reconstruction Military Governor, but they had a bunch of trash that punished the population like one... The sorriest of em all wuz " Parson " Brownlow... As I remember, he is responsible for the mod to the 2A statement in the Tennessee Constitution " regulating the wearing of arms"... Rememberin leroy...
  15. David. RE. This: "... I kind of like that last configuration (..dot donut...) most just because I tend to favor a larger dot but the large outer ring seems to augment the dot. ..." I'm liking this idea alot. This could probably solve my consternation a bit. Thanks. leroy.
  16. Ya hit the nail in the head for me too Brother... This is big concern i aint quite worked thru myself... Thanks a bunch... leroy
  17. Bill... Im likin the Masada idea myself... leroy...
  18. Gonna check the Zev now... Thanks again...
  19. Chuck... Whose slides doya like...? Ive got a Glock 32 layin around... Will a long slide fit these compact frames..? Thanks again... leroy....
  20. Thanks.... Been thinkin about this myself... The only worry is rigidity... Thanks again...!
  21. Brothers n Sisters... A potential " New Mania " has struck me... The " RedDot on a Pistola Mania "..! Do yall think the mania is, indeed, just somethin to play with or if it is, indeed, a viable home and vehicle defense tool..? Im thinkin a full size pistola... Glock, Xd, Smith, IWI... What's the best way ta do this..? Milled slide or " Optics Ready "...? Whaddya think about the tiny RMRs...? Ones ya like... Them " tall iron sights... Which ones ya like...? A Enlighten me please... Thank all y'all in advance... " J Thaddius " leroy... " Struck by the red dot mania "...!
  22. I think that revolvers are becoming a " useful collectable "... Us older folks used em and collected em. Demand has kicked in again. More folks lookin = prices goin up. leroy...
  23. Just joined Bruthah..! Thanks for " Raising my Awareness (... read that gun advocacy wokeism..!! HEHEHE... )... " woke " leroy...
