  1. 1. Model 39 marlin 22 lever gun. 2. Some sort of pump shotgun -- 12 or 30 gage. My favorite is a Winchester model 97 or one of its clones -- like a norinco. You might also try a short double barrel shotgun like a Stoeger Coach Gun. 3. 22 pistol or revolver 4. N frame smith and wesson revolver -- any caliber 5. Some sort of 1911 variant in 45 acp Have fun with all them and learn to use them well. Kind regards, LEROY
  2. You can count on me for a contribution (if its one way). We can take up some xtra money for a laptop so he can send us quips from the "mudderland" and tell us how great the great socialist worker's utopia is. Leroy
  3. For what it's worth; I never interrupt someone when he is making a fool of himself or throwing a momentary tantrum; which some do (me included) on a regular basis. My advice on "moderator monitoring and intervention (read meddling)" is to meddle when the hostile name calling commences and the "discussion" degenerates to name-calling only; with no debate points being made --- even then, do it sparingly -- you are dealing with men old enough to be your dad and young enough to be your brother; treat them as such; not as a domineering teacher would treat a petulent child. Let the discussion here be a "friendly debate" (which it is called) and let the occasional personal jab pass; It doesnt hurt anything. We are all adults (most of the time, anyway...). Punisher has a point. I would lighten up if i wuz you. The folks who post here are not enemies; nor are they children (most of the time anyway...). Let the occasional tantrun pass. If it is real good; grade it and have a laugh. That's how i see things this evening thru my 63 year old bespeckled eyes here in east tennessee. Take it for what it's worth. Kind regards, LEROY

    Home Defense Shotgun

Amen!! Remember, the first repeating shotgun used in war was the Winchester model 97 (a great thing in itself). The model 97 is a exposed hammer pump. It was called the "Trench Broom" and the Germans (great soldiers themselves) called it a "barbaric weapon". Next came the great Winchester model 12; a hammerless design (both designed by J. M. Browning). The Remington 870 and the Mossbergs are the next (and greatest) iteration of the pump shotgun (...outside the Browning BPS --which is also relatively cheap -- (that is what guards our manse; along with other stuff...)). You cant go wrong with a pump shotgun if you are ok with pumping it. They are all great. Kind regards, LEROY
  5. Dear folks:_____________ Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I've just been too lazy to clean the threads up yet; but when i do i will know what to do. Kind regards, LEROY
  6. Dear fellow gun affectiontos:____________ As the great Ricky Ricardo would say: "Somebody please 'splain to me what the benefits of a piston type AR upper are". Why should we be interested in buying one, etc. I understand how the work; i just don't understand what they bring to the party. Thanks in advance, Kind regards, LEROY
  7. Amen brother!! I heartily agree!! A veritable cornucopia of lunacy and overbearing, arrogant childishness!! Remember Plato's words: "The penalty that good men pay for not being interested in politics is to be governed by men worse than themselves." Keep up the good work!! Kind regards, LEROY
  8. Agreed. Department policy should not break the law --- any law. LEROY
  9. They are great!! Ya cant have too many shotguns!! By the way, where is your Winchester Model 97 Riot Gun?? It's the original peace keeper. Kind regards, LEROY

    Cleaning handguns

Mosinon:________ Check this thread out when you have some time. Good stuff on cleaning pistols. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/gunsmithing-troubleshooting/24062-removing-every-last-bit-fouling.html Kind regards, LEROY ps -- No questions are stupid.
  11. Dave:__________ Ive got one of the Burris Spotters. Gave around $200 for it. It works great. Very bright. I can spot holes clearly at 25 or 30 x. Here's a picture. I would shop around for the best buy. Burris 15-45x60 Landmark Spotter You will need a tripod also, so be thinking about that. Hope this helps, Kind regards, LEROY
  12. Oldogy has hit the nail straight on the head. Gun Broker and Gunsameria are a great resource for this. It is a great way to find stuff that you can't find locally. Dont be afraid to negotiate with these guys either, all they can say is "no" -- or, they will probably make a counter offer --especially on "used" stuff. Kind regards, LEROY
  13. Looks to me like the Black Panthers and Nation of Islam have opened up an international office in the Netherlands and it aint working out very well. I am also thankful for this -- well said!!!! Keep up the good work. Kind regards, LEROY
  14. Ive found that most times any magazine can be fixed with a new magazine spring. I've got several of the colt marked 8 rounders that were giving trouble. I tore them down and put xtra power wolfe springs in them. The work fine now. Hope this helps, LEROY
  15. Here us a photo of the glock extensions. You can see they are slick and can pinch. The xd extensions are much better. LEROY
  16. I agree completely. Justice should be for all men; not just certain classes of men. I think your "favorite quote" says it best: There is great truth in your post on all the issues. Keep up the good work! Kind regards, LEROY
  17. Great advice. You cant beat a rockchucker or a Dillon. Hope this helps, LEROY
  18. Ralph... Boy, i say boy ----- there aint no mandate for gubment to interfere into the affairs of the private sector and demand that everybody have everything that somebody else has without paying for it. The great Noboma is just paying off his constitutiency. Nothin but machine politics and carpetbagging at its worst. Thanks again SUNTZU for the inspiration. LEROY
  19. They are slick; but you can hold on to them. They need some sort of decal or skate board tape to add texture to them. Hope this helps. Kind regards, LEROY
  20. This is a great truth. Check out this thread-- same discussion: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/national-politics-legislation/23831-national-healthcare-moves-forward-three-cheers-more-govt-continue.html It amounts to endless arguing (which i kinda really like -- it's a character flaw, i think). Ralph may be a secret operative drawing out all our "right wing anti healthcare commentors" for the great Noboma data harvest and intimidation campaign. By the way; I really like this little image -- it describes the situation exactly: Thank you SUNTZU for explaining this problem so greatly. I admire genius. Keep up the good work! Kind regards (with loads of "Hope for change" for Ralph). LEROY .....psst (As Foghorn would say...) "RALPH... BOY, I SAY BOY---THERE AINT NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO HEALTHCARE. THERE IS A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO PRIVATE PROPERTY." ...Bet ya didnt know that ole Foghorn was a capitalist!!!
  21. I think you are right. The police arguement appears to be: 1. There is a law on the books that allows us to do this. See David's post. 2. You as an individual are obliged to know your rights. That means that voluntarily giving to giving the gun up amounts to setting those rights aside. The moral, you should know better. I have problems with item one; but not item two. The fact is that if there is a law on the books in NC or anywhere else that violates the Constitution; citizens are obliged to see that it be challenged in the federal court. Sadly, that is not always the case. The fact is that any law, no matter how unconstitutional, can be used as justification for about anything as long as it is not challenged and overturned. The genesis of all the handgun carry permit laws was originally the direct result of this sort of thing. Local gun control laws were originated in big cities by crooks who wanted to punish and imprison their hoodlum opponents using crooked laws and crooked polititians to do it. That left the issuance of "hangun carry permits" to the whim and will of local politicians and those who owned them. That's why most state laws say that permits "shall be issued". It fixes the crook, personal predjudice, and government oppression problem. Kind regards, LEROY
  22. Probable cause. There was no reason on the policeman's part to believe that this man committed a crime. Same thing in the quote below RE: New Orleans. That's why the ACLU (and all Americans) should be mad about this. If law enforcement is allowed to do this; all they need to do is set up roadblocks and search every car for everything. This is a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment: </DD></DL>RE: Hex's post. Another example. Same problem, different tactics. This is why you have the Fourth Amendment. The British did the same thing before the Revolutionary War. All totalitarians and "do gooders" like these tactics. Be careful about what you think is alright; especially for someone else, and not not you personally. I will grant that it wasn't very smart to turn a firearm over to law enforcement for "safe keeping". I think this quip says it best: I bet this guy calls some friends to hold his gun the next time. Food for thought. Kind regards, LEROY
  23. Amen brother!! Excellent observation. Mugster's post was, indeed, a thorough and accurate answer to the question. As for Smith's quip: Right on target. Again to both opiners; a most excellent reply. Worthy of taking to heart, because they are both full of wisdom and truth -- indeed, a rare commidity now days!!! Keep up the good work! Kind regards, LEROY
  24. Jamie:___________ I like these guys too. They can be found on Gunbroker or GunsAmerica pretty regularly. You can also find a plow handle and change the grip frames off and make a birdshead. A couple of custom parts makers make them. Take a look at Brownells and you can find some of them. They also may be ruger replacement parts for this conversion -- brownells may have them too. Keep watching the local gun shows (i like the ones in the smaller venues and smaller towns best -- less "gun show special" business guys; more individuals -- better prices. I would also talk to my cowboy action shooting buddies. That's where these little jewels usually wind up; you may get lucky. Anyway, good hunting!! Kind regards, LEROY
  25. This is a great answer. I agree completely. For practical shooting an AR type rifle is ok; so is a bolt gun. RE: the accuracy question: Take the time to Google for the 1000 yd benchrest shooting records. They all use an ultra heavy, long barreled, magnum cartridge custom bolt gun. The records are very impressive. The military used to use both 300 win mag and 30 X 338 wildcat bolt guns for their 1000 yd slow fire matches. I don't know what they use now. Army and Marine snipers used to use bolt guns. Superior accuracy and bullet energy at long range is the reason. In the interest of full disclosure; I'm partial to bolt guns for long range shooting. There are those among the shooting fraternity that can make a semi type rifle (M1A or AR) do great things. My problem with it is that it is hard to do over the long haul due to all the moving parts. It's true that these rifles fire from a locked bolt; but there is lots of action going on during the firing - reload cycle. The bolt gun does none of that. It is simple and not prone to wear. AR type rifles have come a long way, but in my biased judgement, they aint in the same league with the bolt guns at long range. Hope this helps. Kind regards, LEROY
