  5. Thanks for posting this. Interesting read. Happened in exactly the place that one would expect it to happen. A big city. Looks to me like more folks need to arm themselves. I wonder if the New Orleans municipal area is a "gun free" area like Beale Street in Memphis!? Food for thought. Leroy
  6. I fully agree. You may want to look at this post for an interesting perspective on Lamar. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/282279-post14.html This post deals with gunowners; but Lamar is a great polititian with allies everywhere. As 6.8AR has so wisely opined; be careful what you decide to do when picking replacements. There are many pretenders out there that campaign as Republicans and govern as Demorats (..or worse...). Keep up the good work. Leroy
  7. Check out Bowen Classic Arms, Louisville, TN. Info below: Hamilton Bowen, Bowen Classic Arms. email bcacorp@nxs.net , Phone (865) 984-3583. Website here: + C A T A L O G + Hamilton and the gunsmiths that work with him are great guys to deal with and can fix or tune any revolver you have (...colt, ruger, smith...). Prices are fair, service is second to none, and the workmanship is as great as it comes. Hamilton has tuned up both colts and smiths for us over the years. We are happy to give him and his guys our highest recommendation. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy

  10. It sometimes pays to do a little research before you buy high dollar property in urban areas. Leroy
  11. Thanks to all have opined; especially mc for the load data. I like the PM 40 too (...as well as the Sig 238--- a "real" pocket gun for real small pockets!!!...). I believe i'll try to round one up. Again, Many thanks and kind regrds, Leroy
  12. Amen brother! Many of the issues that brought on the civil war are coming to a crisis point today. The principal one is the power of an elite minority (...or ruling class...) to dictate policies to the citizens of the rest of the country that the majority (...or near majority; depending on how you count...) do not want. It is the ultimate hijacking of the concept of a representative republic by the dishonorable and despicable. At its core; it is the problem of a small elite group governing against the will of the citizenry. The ideal of a confederation or union of states died with Lincoln and his actions. Lincoln exchanged the ideal of state government for the iron fisted policies of the British Empire. Both Demorats and Republicans are guilty of continuing this policy. Keep up the good work. Leroy
  13. What a great tool!! Looks good. Kind regards, Leroy
  14. All:___________ here is a geat piece by Thomas Sowell regarding justice stephens. Interesting read: Link is here: RealClearPolitics - Good Riddance! Leroy

  17. All:___________ Just did a search on GunsAmerica (...link here: GunsAmerica - Search - Guns For Sale & Gun Auctions B"H ....). A total of 96 guns for sale were returned (...Gunbroker showed 242! link here: Revolver - Online Gun Auction - Revolver at GunBroker.com...) All looked to be the "old time" 38, 357, 22lr, and 44 special (...that’s what put Charter Arms on the map to begin with...). Robert appears to be exactly right. Charter is doing plenty of business with the old time calibers. Aint it great that arms manufacturers like Charter are busily arming America!! Kind regards, Leroy
  18. Amen brother!!! By the way: RE CK1's Post and opinion: The same issues that are critical in today's world were the issues that fueled the Civil War. They are the issues of the power of various states to band together with the central government (...the Federal one...) to demand that other states pay tariffs (...taxes, in the old vernacular...) and submit to federal edicts that ran counter to the wills of those individual states. Abraham Lincoln was far from a "great uniter"; he was a tool of northern special interest seeking to control the southern states. As some great scholar said; Lincoln exchanged the idea of a union or confederation of states for an empire not unlike the British Empire. Whether you choose to believe it or not; you have far less freedom today than you did before the Civil War. The civil war wasn't all about slavery, as some history revisionists would have you believe. Thus endeth the lesson Leroy
  19. Mace:_____________ I have a Glock 33 that I EDC carry in an Allen Miller Kydex pocket holster. The glock 33 and the 357 sig is a great cartridge/pistol combination. Mine is extremely accurate and reliable. We have worked up handloads that chronograph an honest 1275FPS out of this little pistol (...3.1 inch barrel...) using 124 grain JHC's. It is no problem to hit the 8 inch diameter rounds that the action pistol shooters shoot at 25 to 30 yards with great regularity in aimed fire. I have fired 300 to 400 rounds of these handloads thru this little cannon with no failures to feed. Recoil is brisk; not any more unmanageable than full house 45 ACP rounds in a 1911. Now that that the ammo situation is loosening up; ammo should be no problem. I heartily recommend the 357 sig. It is everything that was claimed for the 9mm in the early eighties. I like it because it will honestly duplicate the ballistics of a 357 mag (...125 grain bullet...) in an extremely small package. Hope this helps Kind regards, Leroy
  20. Roland S. Martin is a history revisionist with an agenda to advance. That agenda is that anyone who opposes the Oligarchy (...the federal government...) is a traitor and terrorist. He follows the lead of another great communicator --- a fellow by the name of Joseph Goebbels. Goebbels lied for "Der Furhr" just like Roland S. Martin is lying for the radical hippy idiots that are striving to re-write the history of the United States. Roland S. Martin would have us believe that over half of the officer corps of the prewar US Army who followed their consciences; who graduated the USMA, served honorably prior to 1861; then resigned their commissions to join the Confederate Army (...men like Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, JEB Stuart, and others...) are terrorists --- baloney --- they were (...and still are...) patriots. Don't worry about what Roland S. Martin has to say; he is a political hack. History will not remember Roland S. Martin. It has remembered and honored those that he has shamelessly lied about and slandered. Food for thought. Leroy
  21. Dear fellow TGO folks:____________ I am thinking about purchasing another pocket type pistol with plenty of punch to provide a "sunday go to meeting" pistol to allow my Glock 33 to rest. I like the single stacks; either a Walther PPS or Kahr PM series pocket gun. My questions for you all to ponder are these: Which caliber in your collective experience is the most inherently accurate (...dont worry about the discussion of controlability; i understand that one...)? How accurate is the load you like? What factory self-defense loads do you like? What handloads do you use for practice? Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Leroy
  22. Great advice. In earlier times, back into the 60's it was well known and accepted that the shortest barrel length for RELIABLE operation on the 1911 was the "commander Length" or 4.25 inch barrel length (...that's why Colt only made two barrel lengths then; 5 and 4.25...). There were several enterprising attempts to cut the 1911 back further, but for the most part, they were failures due to poor reliability. That being said, there have been great advances in the manufacture and engineering of these new, short (...3 inch length...) 1911's. I suspect that the newer ones by folks like Kimber, SW, Springfield, STI (...and others...) are plenty reliable because of these advances. My problem with them is that they lose sight radius (...an important part of the handgun shooting equation...), bullet velocity, and (...as some have said...) reliability as the barrel gets shorter. I like the 4 to 4.25 inch barrel for a "compact" 1911. In spite of what some folks say, a 45ACP is a powerful handgun with a pretty good recoil. It takes a fair amount of practice to shoot one proficiently. The fact is, that anyone can do it; but it takes some practice and getting used to get proficient with it. I suspect that the 9 mm would work better in the shorter barrel lengths. The proficiency curve would also be better due to the lower recoil on the 9 mm. By the way, it has been my experience that barrel length has no appreciable affect on accuracy (...from the mechanical perspective...). From the shooter perspective, the effect is large. It takes much more practice to shoot well with a short barreled pistol. You simply have to hold closer to do it; and that takes more practice. Hope this helps Kind regards, Leroy
  23. John:___________ Nice lower start. Have you seen this: Rainier Arms, LLCâ„¢ | Manufacturer . Stark pistol grip. Put one on my last lower. I like the integral trigger guard and the bigger grip. Kind regards, Leroy
