  1. Amen brother !! Well said! The First Amendment is about political free speech. It does not allow you to say inflammatory, ignorant or nutty things wherever you want to. There are plenty of places where you are not free to say whatever you want to say. Examples: "Fire" in a crowded theatre. (...legal guys like this one!...) Me saying bad things about your momma in your house. Folks in the military can’t criticize their commander(s) in public. Folks in the military and some government service cannot participate in partisan political speech (...a genuine abridgement of "free speech" that everyone should be mad about...). Last but not least: No idiot tee shirts in a courtroom. You can ascend the stump outside the courtroom if you are moved to. It happened in Knoxville recently in the Christian-Newsome trial when the kids’ mom(s) and dad(s) were outraged by the words and actions of an "officer of the court" (...read that defense lawyers...) who said plenty of bad things about their kids in court. RE: The "excessive and narcisstic (ab)use of power..." Lots of that goin around today and it all aint in the courtroom. Lots of it in Congress and the White House. Keep up the good work! Leroy
  2. Lots of phonies in politics -- always were. Kind regards, Leroy
  3. More interesting reading from Reuters via Drudge: Link here: Crime riles Arizonans bent on immigration crackdown | Reuters Leroy
  4. Actions do have consequences. In a court of law, the judge has wide latitude to determine what is permissible as to dress and demeanor. Moral of this little story: Don’t offend the judge (...she or he or it...) has a lot of horsepower and latitude to discipline those who would transgress. Spent quite a bit of time in the Federal Court in Alexandria Va in the eighties. Great lesson in judicial temperment (...which can be bad from time to time...). By the way; there aint no free speech in a court of law. Never was. Food for thought, Leroy
  5. Ya gotta love this guy!! Sic 'em Joe!!! We salute you!! Leroy
  6. Interesting read. It will be interesting to see just what (...if anything...) the Federal Government tries to stop this. I believe that there is nothing (...other than threats to states...) that can be done due to this: . I believe that this is one of the first shots in the new battle of states rights vs the federal government. It will be interesting to watch. Thanks for posting it. Kind regards, Leroy
  7. Me too. I have used these little files to sharpen the serrations individually. It takes a light touch though (...no or very light pressure, watch the magic marker go away; then stop...). Link here: DMT Diafold Serrated Knife Sharpener Extra-Fine - Knifecenter.com I use a magic marker to "color" long bevel side of the serration (...dont sharpen the back side, just knock the burr off with one stroke on the back...) to make sure i cut all along the front serration valley and dont blunt it off (...if you kook closely, the individual serrations are designed to be like a chisel or gouge--sharpened on one side only...). Success varies alot for me though. I (...like you both...) seem to have much better luck sharpening a plain blade knife. My observation: Plain edge= extremely sharp. Serrated knife=so so edge. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy

Sorry for the trouble. Glad you are all ok. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Kind regards, Leroy
  9. To all:___________ Lots of times when you (...reloaders or manufacturers...) dont crimp loads heavy enough (...especially the lead bullet loads...), you will get the problem of "dirty ignition". When you buy lead ammo (..and when you reload it, too...), make sure the bullet crimp is good and heavy. Lots of folks wont crimp 'low power" loads. That is a bad idea. All powders burn better and more completely when they have a heavy bullet pull (...or crimp...). You also get this with a poor crimp: Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy
  10. Been carrying one of these for about 3 months. I like it alot. Link here: H&K 14205 Axis Lock Manual Knife (Satin PLN) - Blade HQ By the way, i like these guys too. They are great to do business with. Reliable, quick shipping. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy

  14. Amen brother. I heartily agree. Keep up the good work (...Both of ya... ). Kind regards, Leroy
  15. I understand. I grew up on the knox county/sevier county line. Sevier county has experienced a population explosion in the last 30 or so years. Lots of good people come down to east tennessee, fall in love with the area (...and the people...), and move here. I'ts a good thing!! Again, Glad to have ya. Kind regards Leroy
  16. Cant let this one pass: With all due respect. I believe that you cannot paint Republicans as "wanting to take money from the middle class and give to the higher class." This one is a stretch and is right out of the ole Demorat playbook. I will concede that all politicians to some degree will reach into everyone’s pockets. The fact is that these statements are naive at best. I would opine that you need to remember several things about politics and the creation of wealth. First of all, politics: · Politics is a "winner takes all" sport. There is no power sharing in politics at the national level. The majority party calls the shots. The demorats are calling the shots now. Their agenda is one of headlong charge into real socialism. The demorats are, in fact taking money from the about 1/2 the population and giving it to the other 1/2 who don’t work. I don’t like that and neither should anyone else. I say, let everyone pay his fair share. · I do not see the Republicans backing Orwellian ideas like national healthcare, the fat tax, and lots of other idiotic, nanny state bunk. I do see the demorats actively pursuing that exact agenda. Re: The creation of wealth. · No matter what you prefer to believe about the rich; they are the guys who make jobs in this country. Not the government, not the poor, not anyone else. Only the folks with money create jobs. The demorats have used the mantra of soak the rich while soaking everyone else for as long as I can remember (...and that is a pretty long time...). · The current demorat administration is the most anti capitalist bunch that have been in office in my lifetime (...and, most likely, everyone else’s' too...). · Government spending using dollars confiscated thru taxes create temporary jobs; not permanent ones for the most part. You cannot tax yourselves into economic prosperity. I do not believe in the "lets all get along" philosophy and back both parties idea. It simply won’t work in the atmosphere we find ourselves in at this juncture in history. No one is going to change the demorat party and bring it back to the old time fifties philosophy. The republicans are in danger of being morphed into the demorat party if they don’t straighten up and go back to the concepts of limited government, lower taxes, and constitutional government. I like the idea of a third party throwing all these bums out; but I doubt it can be done. Our only hope is that the republicans embrace what lots of the third party guys are saying. Food for thought. Leroy
  17. Stranger:_________ RE: This question: Depending on your address, your rep is either TN8 or TN12. Go to this link to see who is running: Tennessee Secretary of State: 2010 Candidates For the TN8 race; . The sitting reps bio is here: Representatives - TN General Assembly. I dem running. See advice re TN 12 below (..sorry, cant read today...). TNH08DemocratMarvin Pratt472 Norton Creek Rd., Gatlinburg 37738SEVIER For the TN12 race; i like Montgomery (...bio here: Representatives - TN General Assembly If you live in the TN12 district; there is a choice of Republican or Democrat. My advice, go with Montgomery. I never like to see Democrats come from the Gatlinburg Area (...no indigenous natives up there are dems...). Gary T. Eichmann (...at risk of being accused of profiling; I would opine that "Eichmann" aint a genuine East Tennessee Scotch-Irish name...) is a genuine transplant from the outside (... you get lots of that in Gatlinburg, northern folks coming down, buying property, and bringing their voting habits with them...). Eichmann is running as a Democrat. I'm biased; I never vote for a Democrat no matter how high minded and upright the rhetoric and firm the handshake; but that is just me. Hopefully, others can post more information based on actual performance. RE: Unhappiness with alexander. I agree. 18. Dear Stranger45:___________ To understand TN politics you need to understand that TN is basically divided into three separate and distinct regions (...people and territory--almost like different states...) as follows: East Tennessee-- From the Tennessee River east (...really about the Cumberland Plateau east...) is republican territory; and always has been since the Civil War. Middle Tennessee (...runs from the Cumberland Plateau about to Camden, TN, where the Tennessee River flows north toward the Ohio...) is a mix; with (...in the old days, a distinct Demorat flavor...). Luckily, that is changing due to the buildup of folks in the Williamson Co area (...and other areas im sure...) who are actually trying to better themselves and are capitalists at heart...). The rural areas appear to be a mix of old time "New Deal" Democrats who are slowly finding out the "New Demorats" are selling them into slavery. Notable exceptions to this are the inner city areas of Nashville and the other usual places where folks are "on the dole"; plus the usual boschelvic trash around the colleges. West Tennessee is dominated by the Memphis metro area which is clearly Demorat. To summarize; the further west you go and the closer to the large metro areas such as Nashville; the more Demorat things become. Having said that, there are lots of good folks living in all those areas that are waking up to what the current crop of Demorats stand for. In modern times, Tennessee has tussled back and forth between "Blue Dog" Democrats and Republicans on the national scene. But the current trend (...since about 1970, i think...) has been that it is becoming more and more Republican at the Federal level. At the state level, things are also turning more and more Republican. The current governor (...Bredesen---) is a Demorat thru and thru, but he won on the heels of a RINO Republican (...Sundquist...) that was a dufus for sure. Bretesen is, for the most part, a pretty good fiscal policy governor; but he is a Liberal Ideologue thru and thru. He is, however, smart enough to keep quiet about it. Now, regarding your questions: · Governor --- I like Wamp. He is currently a republican congressman who is for the most part fiscally conservative, pro states rights and progun. I DO NOT LIKE HALSAM. SEARCH THE POSTS ON THIS FORUM FOR THE WHYS. · Senate--- Hot topic here. Our present Senator is Lamar Alexander. He is a blue nose Republican with overbearing tendencies; but, overall, he is a rabidly partisan Republican. SEARCH THE POSTS ON THIS FORUM FOR SOME INFO AND GOUSING ABOUT HIM. · Representatives -- The Sevierville area is in the territory of Jummy Duncan. A staunch Republican and fiscal conservative. He is a great friend to gun owners. I'm sure others will have additional information and opinions as well. This should get you (...and them...) started. Glad to have ya! Kind regards, Leroy

  22. Dear fellow gun aficionados:____________ I believe that the overwhelming reason that revolvers have been pushed to the background in the "main stream" of new gun sales is as follows: Revolvers have been cast on the scrap heap of the police and military sector. For the military; since about 1911 and for the police since the 9 mm revolution of the early eighties. The gun press has spilled tank cars of ink telling folks that they need a pistol that shoots a gigillion times at all times. A revolver shoots 5 or 6 times. The big hitter: CNC machining technology has improved the manufacturing processes for all small parts to the extent that semi auto pistols that used to cost several thousands of dollars from custom gunsmiths who were relatively few in number, can be bought in today’s market at about $800 to whatever you are willing to pay, and are off the shelf items. Makers like Glock did something that no one had thought of before. They made a pistol with a frame made out of used plastic coke bottles that was ultra reliable and cheap. This is a great technological break thru and a revolutionary concept. For the most part, the big names in revolver making were traditionally headquartered in the North East. That means the union has had them organized for years. Union labor contributes to the cost of production. If it weren't for government contracts (...which give incentives for union labor, and punishments for foreign production, by the way...). Colt and S & W would already be dead. Nobody wants to give $1000 for a revolver that ought to cost $500. Now, having said all these heinous things about the poor revolver, i want to say some good things: I_Like_Pie hit the nail square on the head here; and summarized the whole issue as well as it could be said: Revolvers are dead reliable for several lifetimes if taken care of. Revolvers are as quick as anything out there if they are shot double action. A revolver will be in a dead heat for shooting with any semi auto IF the revolver man knows how to shoot double action. Every real student of handguns should own a revolver or two so he can really appreciate how well they work. Every student of history should own a revolver because they are a genuine part of American history. I say: "Collect 'em all"! Thus endeth the dissertation. Kind regards, Leroy
  23. More interesting reading from "The Hill" blog (...link here:Mack ® compares Ariz. law to Nazi Germany - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room...). Spoken by US Congressman Connie Mack, Jr, Story here (...note the "money" sentence in red in the article...): Mack is the sitting Republican Congressman from Florida's Fourteenth district. West coast of Florida. Naples to Port Charlotte. A couple of things about this "opposition" interest me about his outraged pronouncements: 1. He aint got the problem that the folks in AZ have; yet he is "outraged" by their solution. There aint a common border between Florida and Mexico. Why is it that as smart as Congressman Mack is, he hasn’t thought of or supported the idea of enforcement of border security at the Federal Level? We used to do that (...years ago, of course...). I suspect that Congressman Mack is aware of that. 2. Plenty of yards to mow, beds to make, retirement cottages (...and palaces...) to build in his district --- you get the picture. Recon where that labor comes from? My take is Connie Mack Jr. could care less about anything other than cheap labor and Hispanic votes. Pandering, pure and simple. Notice Rubio's objection ---He is a Republican from Miami. He needs votes too. Interesting isn’t it. It appears to me that both Mack and Rubio are guilty of shameless pandering. I also find Mr. Mack's "Nazi" comments offensive. I suspect that the real residents of his district will too, if they get widely reported, that is. How about you? Food for thought. Leroy
