The very best carry holster for Glock 27???
leroy replied to a topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
John:____________ I'll second what OS and Ae have said above. You may want to take a look at these guys. They do excellent work. Andrews Custom Leather. I've got a MacDaniel II. It is exremely well made; but i cant find the exact spot it needs to fit on my little rotund body. I've got everything from old Bianchi to Safariland to Mernickle (...another great outfit...) to D M Bullard. I say: "....Collect 'em all!...". Thats what always happens to me. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy -
Daniel:____________ I believe you and mike are both right. Need to change my glasses. This is the one i ment to post: Link here: American Power: Best Tea Party Signs Blind Leroy

Sounds to me like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and someone peed in your Post Tosties this morning. I didnt do any of that to you. My advice to you is to take a baby apirin and lighten up. Found this in about 30 seconds in Democrat country, WV. Note the upper right hand corner. Hows that!?

What a great and responsible job! I think we ought to get these things out every once and a while to demonstrate them. We need to do a little nuclear shooting and resume atmospheric testing. It sends the right message to those who might think about doing bad things. Kinda like standing out on the back porch of your home and rolling cans around with your pistol or rifle. It sends the right message. keep up the good work! Kind regards. Leroy -
Both you have nailed this ---a "Tempest in a Teapot". I believe that the Rev should calm down a bit, take a baby aspirin, and enjoy the celebrations (...our church will do the "Trunk or Treat" thing on saturday nite...). He also might want to think about the scriptural admonition concerning reaching out to others (...not lecturing them...). More than that; we are celebrating my dear wife's birthday; how could that possibly be bad?!!!. It is, indeed, an auspicious day ----- worthy of great celebration!! Keep up the good work! Happy Haloween! Leroy (...forgiven pagan...)

AMEN BROTHER!! WELL SAID. WE SALUTE YOU. YOU ARE DEAD RIGHT!!! We still are privileged to live in the greatest country on the face of the earth. The Creator has allowed us to live in the time of the right to vote where individuals can, in fact, have some impact on their leadership thru the voting process thru the rights of free political speech and the right to bear arms. Those three things together make this country great. The vote wont work if the other two things are not in place. Thats the upside of our great nation. The downside is the quality of the candidates (...for the most part...). My first vote was in 1968 where i had the honor and privilege to vote against that great Democrat (...not Demorat; he wasn't a commie...) Hubert M Humphrey (....i also voted against a third party candidate named George Wallace...). I cast my vote for the infamous Richard M (...Mousehouse...) Nixon. Things were pretty hot in those days due to Vietnam and the squalling of the civil rights movement. Those were interesting times. Still, it was a great thing to be able to vote (....i was 22 years old at the time...)!! Nixon carried 32 states and won in a landslide. I have voted in ever election since that time; local, state, and federal. I (...like Mark...) am always both gladdened and humbled at the opportunity to vote. The candidates may be pitiful, crooked, or commie; but the US Constitutional process is great. Remember this picture. The right for that donkey to carry those ballots and allow the woman to vote cost a bunch. Folks would do well to remember that and thank the Creator for the privilege that, sadly, many in America take for granted or are cynical about. Thanks to all you veterans who have secured and continue to secure this great blessing for us all!!! Food for thought. Leroy

peejman:____________ I believe you have put your finger directly on it. The great symbol of the Tea Party is the minuteman armed with his rifle. rifle = bad. Tea Party = bad. A bunch of rogue nuts = bad for the country. Having said all that; i doubt it will work. I believe the average guy is more afraid of rogue government now than the Tea Party minuteman. I see that as a good thing. Paraphrasing what the infamous Karl Marx (....the left's real "Patron Saint"....) said in his intro the the Communist Manifesto (...the sacred text for this socialist trash...): "....There is a spectre haunting the "ruling class" in America today. The spectre of defeat of soft socialism and the casting out of the "ruling elites (...and the realignment [...or demise...] of some of the political parties...)"!..... Real American Citizens arise! You have nothing to loose but your chains !!..." I admit it's a bit over the top; but i believe its exactly right. Check this link out: Right Wing News Text here: Keep up the good work! Me too. Had a buddy with a Anschutz 22 hornet sporter. Greatest gun i've ever shot (...to date, testing is still going on...) period! Keep testing for the greatest! Kind regards, Leroy PS--Anybody old enough there to have helped fire the great "Atomic Cannon"? It had to be the best ever!! This looks like the real deal. Tested May 25, 1953. Fifteen kiloton shot. Tested at Frenchman Flats-Nevada Test Sight. Seven mile shot, air blast. Link here:The Atomic Cannon -
Glockster:_____________ Glad to help. My stuff is pretty old. I like the idea of using a ball type powder too --- especially the WW 760; easier to measure and you might be able to get by with not trickling every load (...we always had too with the stick powders...). I'm astounded at the velocities and SD with what you have. Thats a lot of umph and very consistent. We never did try the spire points; but im sure they work very well. Ive used a ton of them in 222's. They are very accurate. We tried the 300 spbt's becuse they had just come out. I still love the profile of these bullets!! They are both streamlined and big as a bus. I cant wait to hear about the lead bullet tests. You have inspired me to get my Ruger #1 458 back out (...and the 375 too, for that matter...) and start experimentng again myself. Years ago I quickly put together a bunch of 350 grain lyman flatnoses (...without gas checks...) that an ole buddy of mine cast and sized for me for the 458 (...they were old time bullets for the 45-70, i think...). I couldnt keep them on an 8 1/2 by 11 at 50 yards. I think i loaded them too hot and they were either stripping the rifling or melting the bases (...used IMR3030 jacketed bullet data; i think....). You've inspired me to pull the lead bullets (...stupid me; loaded about 100 or so of them -- a lifetime supply!!...) and start again on the reduced loads for the 458. I may just order some jacketed 350 grain flatnoses and redo the powder from the pulled rounds. Anyway, keep up the good work and let us know what the "Pilgrim's Progress" is with the lead rounds! Kind regards, Leroy

Bite the bullet and buy either a Filson Mackinaw jacket (...link here: Filson Clothing -- Filson shirts, jackets, sweaters and more : from David Morgan or here; Better Outdoor Clothing | Better Outdoor Gear | Filson) or a swanndri (...link here: Bushshirts - Swanndri). Cry once and buy once. I have a couple of filsons that i have had for 30+ years. The Swanndri stuff is just as good and a bit cheaper (...it still aint cheap in relative terms...). Both the filson and swanndri are waterproof and warm. You cant wear them out. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy

Yes. I simply will not vote for a Demorat, no matter how winsome. McWerter is a Demorat of the worst kind -- i believe nothing he believes. It's really a 'hold your nose' or lesser of evils vote thing. Leroy -
glockster:___________ RE: your question. Sorry it took me so long to reply; but i finally dug down into the reloading pile deep enough to find out what i was looking for on the old Lyman accuracy loads. When i looked closer; i was horified. The Lyman manual called for 81.0 grains of IMR (...Dupont...) 4350, with large magnum primers for the "accuracy load"; which by the way was the same for their "factory duplication load" (...this load is a "compressed" load. you will probably have to drop it thru a drop tube to get it to settle and compact enough to seat the bullet...). The bullet listed was a 300 grain roundnose flat base solid; but the sierra 300 grain boattail will work (...thats what we used...); and; most likely, at a lower pressure due to the shorter bearing lenght of the bullet due to the boattail. The velocity listed for this round was 2590 fps out of a 24 inch bolt gun (...a winchester model 70; i think...). That is smokin it for a 300 grain bullet. Believe it or not, we always used the 'accuracy loads' from this old manual because they tended to be very "accurate"! Over the years, Ive used the data from it on everything from 222 remington, 30-06, 308, 300 win mag, and right up to the 375. Having said all this; there are some things to consider. The first is that manual this was taken from is a really old Lyman manual from the early 70's. It's so old that ive lost the cover and cant find the date or edition in it. Secondly, my old sierra loading manual (...mid 80's...)lists the max load for this bullet at 78.7 grains of IMR4350. Additionally, a Dupont Factory loading manual i have (...mid 80's...) lists the max load of IMR4350 at 78.0 grains at a pressure of 53,000 psi. It has been my experience that the powder manufacturer's reloading data is pretty close to right. I tried to find some loaded rounds that we used (...they are from at least the early eighties...), but ive not been able to as yet (...i'll keep looking and send ya a note if i find them; they are here somewhere!!...). I was pretty good about writing down the exact recipe we used for all the reloads. I can tell you that we used to regularly shoot 3 shot cloverleafs with iron sights at about 60 yards from the prone position using a rolled up sleeping bag for a rest and a sissy bag to keep from bruising our shoulders with the reloads we used. The 375 is extremely accurate, and will shoot as far as you can see. We would use an hourglass shaped target on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper and shoot at the point where the hourglass crossed at the center. It was the usual thing to get a cloverleaf. We also used CCI large rifle magnum primers. Having said all this; ill take the time to add some cautions. First of all; for some reason, i seem to remember that we started at 78.0 grains of IMR4350 and worked up (...that load may work very well....). Secondly, technology has moved forward over the last 40 or so years and it is entirely possible that the 78.0 grain load is pretty hot. All that being said, i would recommend starting at 78.0 grains of IMR4350 (...even lower if you arent comfortable or if you see something in another reloading manual that troubles you; like a lower maximum...) and working up in 1 grain increments. I'd recommend five rounds for each recipe. I would use new or once fired brass if i had it. Make sure it is below the maximum trim length for the 375; or more prefferably, you trim it to the minimum trim length. I'll add another caution here regarding initial sizing and put in a plug for neck sizing on these type rounds. Ive burned a lot of powder thru the 300 win mag [...the 375 is just a bigger brother with a more slender case....] and learned the hard way that the best way to reload these rounds after initial sizing is to neck size them only. These rounds headspace on the case shoulder and if you arent careful, you will push the shoulder back on resizing (...thats what happend to us, because we had two 300 win mags and didnt take the time to keep the brass separated by rifle...). If you push the shoulder back just a bit too much on resizing; the brass will "grow" and get thin at the back and long in the front. It can get too long (...over the maximum case length...) and lock the bullet and brass in the chamber when you close the bolt. That will guarantee high pressures and could possibly wreck both you and the rifle. We hardly ever got more than 4 or 5 firings on the 300's without the brass needing trimming if we used the full resize. That's why i always recommend neck sizing only; plus keeping a close eye on overall case length. The round will fit the chamber perfectly and your brass will last a lot longer. I'll also add the usual weasel words about free bore and tight chambers with these hard kickers. If the chamber is tight and doesnt have much freebore the loads will be hot. My rifle is a Remington Model 700 safari from the mid to late 70's. We experienced no problems with pressure signs using it; but rifles are all somewhat different. If you start to lift the bolt after firing and it feels the least bit sticky or harder than usual to lift; id quit shooting that particular load and back the powder down a bit. If i saw any evidence of the extractor imprint on the case head or any blurring or peening of the lettering on the case head; id quit shooting and back the powder down a bit too. Those are pretty reliable pressure signs (...the primer flattening thing never told me much on a rifle....). In the meanwhile, ill keep digging and see if i can find some loaded rounds (...they are here somewhere...). If you would like copies of the data i furnished; please PM me with your e-mail address and ill be glad to copy them, run em into a pdf, and e-mail them back to you. Have fun and enjoy your H & H! Kind regards, Leroy

1gewehr:_________ Thanks for posting this note. Very informative analysis. I feel as you do, that Haslam will support TN gunowners. He simply cannot afford not to. I remember a fella by the name of Albert Gore, Sr. who was a six term senator from TN who was voted out of office for voting for the Gun Control Act of 1968. Keep up the good work. Kind regards, Leroy (...voting Republican...) -
All:______________ I wonder how long the US and the state of Arizona are going to put up with the thuggery that is going on down on the border? Around 1916 a fella by the name of Pancho Villa raided Columbus, NM and shot up the town. Later, a fella by the name of John J Pershing lead a "Punitive Expedition" of US Calvary into mexico looking for Villa. That expediton was authorized by President Woodrow Wilson. A young Lieutenant by the name of George S Patton served with Pershing and personally finished off two or three Villistias with a colt single action army. They didn't get Villa; but they sent the right message. There were no more across the border raids by mexican nationals. By my unofficial count; that was 1 (...read that one, and only one...) incident. Nobama would have us all believe he is a twenty first century Woodrow Wilson; he is an educator and smartest guy in the room ---fully credentialled, just like ole Woodrow (....remember, Wilson was a lawyer, a professor of law, and the president of Princeton University...). I wonder why he aint smart enough to come to the same conclusion that ole Woodrow came to? Could it be that he thinks it's ok for latino hit men to come across the border and shoot both US citizens and rogue drug thugs? It would appear that he is ok with shooting rogue drug thugs (...by the way, im ok with shooting rogue drug thugs; it's an idea whose time has come. ...), because he and the Justice Department want to keep the State of AZ from enforcing duly ratified state law that might id some of them. It also could be that he may be ok with hit men shooting a few US citizens (...by the way, i aint for this one....) in the process. He (...being the smartest guy in the room...) may see it as an acceptable price to keep-inter country relationships ok with Mexico. It's just a bad deal for the citizens of AZ. I wonder when the people of the good ole USA will get tired of this? My, how times have changed. Food for thought. Leroy PS --Trigem--- thanks for posting the original article1 Very interesting and disturbing read.

What a great thing! You are to be commended!! This fits right in with the old time story about the Revolutionary War era presbyterian pastor that regularly laid his flintlock tower pistol on the pulpit podium during the service; ostensibly to keep down quibbling and fighting within the church. I think it's a great idea!! Keep up the good work! Kind regards, Leroy

I want to say this as kindly as I can. The "leader of your country" is elected. The word "elected' is the key word. That means that he is a representative chosen by the majority of the people as the 'leader of our country" for a time. It is not a new thing that a politician would run on one set of principles (...read that promises...) and govern from another; and then be criticized (…or even ousted…) for doing so. That is exactly what is happening with Nobama. I have watched and participated in politics ever since 1964. Every president that ran on one set of principles and governed from the other (....except one, Bill Clinton...) was defeated when the American voters that elected him realized what had happened. Here are some examples: Jimmy Carter: (one term) Elected by voter indignation for Gerald Ford's pardoning of Richard Nixon. Folks thought that the Republicans were above the law. Ronald Reagan: Elected because Carter was incompetent in his first term (...we'll see this happen again...). He won by telling the truth. He said “government was too big and too meddlesome in everyone's business…” (...sound familiar...). He won and was elected for a second time because folks believed he was right (...by the way, he was....). Bush ONE: (one term) He won because he ran on Reagan's coattails which were big. He lost to a fella by the name of Bill Clinton because he didn't do what he said he would do. He said he would continue Reagan's policies. He didn’t. He was killed with the "Read my lips; no new taxes" thing. He then went along with the Demorats and raised taxes. The voters remembered and threw him out. Clinton won because he said "...I aint like them other socialist Demorats; im a new Demorat...!" It turns out he was pretty much like the other demorats anyway; but the economy was good. Barak Obama: Nobama won because he said: “I’m not like them mean Republicans; I’m here for “Hope and Change”. Folks have found out in short order that “Hope and Change” means socialism and the worst kind of influence peddling we have seen since Reconstruction. The “disrespect” you sense around Obama is due to the problem of running on one set of principles and governing from another. Do not confuse contempt or opposition to policies by citizens as “disrespect for the country”. It aint the same thing. The people opposing the “leader of your country” are exercising their rights as citizens to oppose or even vote out of office those elected officials (…right up to the president…) who they feel are not doing the job they were elected to do. That’s why America is a representative republic and is the envy of the rest of the world (…for the time being, at least…). It is, in fact, the genius of America. Do not confuse “disrespect” with political opposition; it aint the same thing. The First Amendment guarantees the right to political “free speech”. That means speech, cartooning, ect; no matter how heinous or offensive to some of its citizenry. The “politically correct” and “Tolerance Police” would have you believe that you are obligated to tolerate everything. Toleration in their view is silence; it effectively repeals the First Amendment -- that's what they want; no vocal opposition to their policies. American politics doesnt work that way. No politician is off limits to criticism; no matter how coarse. Remember, the Demorats said: “Reagan is a clueless actor… (…it turns out he wasn’t…).” “Bush is a dummy …it turns out he may have been…). Lincoln is a gorilla (…he wasn’t…). Criticism and debate (….along with a bit of name calling, caricature, heated discussion, and even a few fist fights…) aint a bad thing in the political arena. That is what has made this country great for the 230 + plus years of its existence. We don’t have any “Dear Leaders” here like the North Koreans do or any Kings like King George was when Britain ruled the world and the Colonials “fired the shot heard round the world….”. Be thankful you live in a country where (…for the time being, at least…) you are free to criticize and even disrespect your ‘leader”; not to mention throwing him out if he doesn’t suit you. Lots of folks in other parts of the world wish (…mostly in secret…) that they had that freedom. Don’t worry about politicians being offended by what you say; they have thick skins. It’s part of the territory. Hope this gives you a bit of a new perspective on political respect. Don’t equate disrespect for individuals as disrespect for country and its values. It aint the same thing. Others have said it far more consisely and elolquently than i have. The fact is that the principles America is founded on are much greater than the men who temporarily swear to uphold them. Dont worry about the men; worry about the principles they vow to uphold. That is the great thing about America. By the way; a big + 1,000 to Glock23ForMe 's original post. Food for thought. Leroy

Congratulations Glockster!!:____________ Great looking rifle (...i like CZ anythings...) in a great caliber. When you get the time; try the old time Lyman accuracy load with the 300 grain btsp bullet (...sierra, i think; it's been a long time...). The accuracy is astounding. We've got an old safari grade Remington 700 ourselves. You may want to be careful driving by or visiting parks (...or retirement homes....) for the african (...and indian...) big game animals. They may sense that you have the great bawana tools for hunting and stampede!!! ---HEHEHE. Have fun and let us know how the lead bullet thing works out with regard to accuracy (...we may want to try it ourselves....). Kind regards, Leroy

I like the Makarov too. They are a great pistol, and you cant beat the price. Kind regards, Leroy

Ditchdigger:___________ Dont worry about the "reload voiding the warranty thing". I've never heard of a company challenging a warranty repair unless they could absolutely tell it was due to a bad (...read that ultra hot...) reload. A good example would be swelling a cylinder on a revolver with a hot reload (...believe it or not, ive seen em...) or battering a polymer frame (...like on a glock...) from hot loads. Lots of folks shoot reloads. I've been shooting my own reloads (...magnum and standard loads...) in rifles, pistols, and revolvers for about 35 years now with no damage to the weapons that fire them. I fully agree with TNhawk: Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy

Amen brother!!! It is, indeed, "Political Speech" guaranteed by the First Amendment and underwritten by the Second. I could care less if it is offensive to some of our citizens; it doesnt make it any less truthful. PS-- Froggy: ....Thanks for posting this delightful bit of valuable information!!!.... Keep up the good work!! Leroy

I think this one is interesting too. There is something out there that we dont know yet. Keep your eyes and ears open. Listening and watching Leroy

Got one of these myself. I think it is a Klein Tool bag with a white canvas upper and a rubber or heavy plastic bottom. As i remember they are about 8 inches wide by 20 incles long and 10 or 12 inches deep with a good handle. They are a great bag for about $40 to $45 dollars. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Leroy
