Young ta old.... Colt 1911... Colt LW Commander... Smith j frames... Glock 33... Sig 238... Sig 938... Now 75 years old... Sig 238 goes in my pocket every day... Sig 938 plus a mag or two in my EDC carry bag in the truck... On " the frontier and in the woods dark n deep "... Add a Glock 21 or a 20, depending on what's closest to the door... Zombie Apocalypse.... Shotguns, 300 BO pistol, Ruger Charger... vigilant leroy....

As an " Old Timer " with revolvers and handloading, the idea that a 357 SIG is the equivalent of the 357 mag is a bit of a stretch. The only place they are comparable is in the 125 grain loading. The SIG suffers from small case capacity, and the 125 grain pill is about the optimum fit for them. The original 357 loading was a 158 grain bullet at about 1450 fps back in the thirties. The SIG ain't in that neighborhood because of case capacity. I like the SIG (.. Used ta carry a Glock 33 ..), but it ain't no 357 magnum. The police liked the 125 grain load in the magnum and the SIG because they could shoot it better, plus the SIG is higher capacity. The old, original 357 loads with the 158 grain pills bucked too much for the average shooter, so they calmed the load a bit to better fit " a wider spectrum of shooters ". To summarize, in my world, at least; the 357 SIG is a great round, much closer to what was claimed for the 9mm, than to a " real " 357 magnum load that the old timers used to use... The 10 MM is the " icing on the cake ". Plenty of power and high capacity in the big Glocks n other polymer wonders... Ancient leroy...

Poor Mans Benelli M4? Horrible Clone? or a Smoking Steal?
leroy replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in Long Guns
Brothers n sisters... Remember this one thing... The CNC machines that produce all these parts are stupendously accurate. If the base materials are as good, there is no substantial difference in any of these scatterguns other than name and price. Take a look at the 1911and AR market... A bajillion parts suppliers and basically there same results... frugal leroy... -
This is a great truth especially for rifles... Thank you for pointing this out. leroy...

Who says .45 ACP is not popular anymore?
leroy replied to Quavodus's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The 45 aint unpopular to the experienced gun hands. It is unpopular to first time gun buyers and casual shooters. There is a " shortage " of 45 ammo because everybody is making 9 mm and 556... leroy... -
Magic.... This made me think.... Smokeless powder is a flammable solid... It won't explode, it will burn. Black Powder is a " low explosive "... It WILL explode. That said, they both will accelerate destruction from a fire... Something ta think about... leroy...

I'm a great PSA cheerleader. The ole boy who founded the business is a disabled vet and a solid 2 A supporter. He has already got a 9mm line up n running... His prices on the 9mm are quite a bit better than the " big " ammo guys. I'ma thinking that he intends to shake the US ammo business up a bit. Here's hopin.... leroy...

Yup... Palmetto State Arms plans to produce it in the near future. They are good guys... leroy...

I'm thinking it is... 12.5 grains of 2400 in the 38 special case with standard primers n a heavy crimp. I remember loading some with 13.5 as well. That one wuz a bit too heavy to suit me. I found the 12.5 load to be powerful n accurate in the big frame vaquero... leroy...

I like the 38 special in most all flavors. I carry an old model Ruger vaquero sheriff stoked with 173 grainers n a heavy charge of 2400 that will develop about 1200 fps out of the 3 3/4 barrel in 38 special cases from time to time. I also like all flavors of " j " frames with full wadcutters at 38 special velocities as well. Used ta carry one quite a bit. leroy...

Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
leroy replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
This is very interesting... When I started reloading back in the mid seventies, a good friend of mine told me to always do business with CCI. He said CCI was the only non large ammo primer manufacturer who actually wanted to sell primers to reloaders. It's now 47 or so years later, and CCI has been absorbed into an ammo holding company. Now primers are almost non existent. The ammo makers don't want to sell primers to reloaders, they want to sell em ammo at confiscatory prices. Our only primer hope is either foreign primers or a new, independent, primer startup operation. I'm hopeful that Palmetto State Arms may help this situation in the long run. leroy... -

A couple of things... " Oil ".... There is plenty... We know where lots of it is... Fracking made the US the largest energy produced in the world until the new regieme took over. " The future of electric vehicles "... Watch the Israelis for new battery technology... About one more iteration will make it right... Watch the European heavy truck industry and users... If they work there, it's finally feasible... Finally.... Don't believe the " we are out of resources hype "... We ain't... Electric vehicles are most likely your kid's future, not yours... All this from an old engineer crumudgeon... About 40 years in the electric power industry... That is all... Predicting leroy...

Folks.... Let me sum this up. The CHICOM BAT FLU IS A US paid for BIOWEAPON, pure and simple. Here's the story. 1. We ( ..the good ole USA.. ) paid for this research for reasons unknown ( ..to most sane folks ..) at least... 2. Some dumbazz or mad man in the Red Chinese Gubt let it out, probably ta kill off old folks in Red China... 3. It migrated to the outside world most likely because the CHICOM political and military class seems to be seriously sensibly challenged ( ..you know China is " The Celestial Kingdom ", everywhere else is just everywhere else ..)... 4. The CHICOMS lied about it to the ordinary citizens of " everywhere else " land... 5. The " everywhere else land " political class jumped on it to cover for the CHICOMS because they were takin money from them; and discovered it had a political use. The " use " , curtailment of individual rights.... 6. They, " the everywhere else land political class" ( ..and their enablers ..), after a couple of years, have been caught... Remember this:. The God-Man said: " There is nothing whispered in the ear in the innermost room that won't be shouted from the rooftops "... It's a universal truth. Thus endeth the soloquey... watchin leroy, the close observer...

The greatest rifle match I ever attended wuz a 1000 yd Black Powder National match at the ORSA Range in Oak Ridge, TN several years ago. The shooting wuz fabulous as we're the rifles n competitors. There is simply nothing greater in all rifledom than a single shot muzzle or breach loading target rifle " KaBoom ". If ya have the inclination ta shoot these great rifles, go for it...I still want a Petersoli Gibbs or a Sharps and I'm almost too old ta shoot em... Admiring leroy...

Built one several years ago. Ammo and reloading component selection is good. Basically the same as the others without the " exotic cache ". leroy.
