It's really a personal decision. If your reason for wanting to sell the Glock is because you don't shoot it a lot then think about it this way. An owner of a classic car doesn't drive it a lot but it has sentimental value and/or they just like to show it off occasionally. Either way, its value will only grow.

I had a long career in the retail industry. Any reputable dealer making such a mistake would own up to it and work with the customer to resolve the issue even if it cost them some lost profit. Thanks for the heads up. They are now on my "never buy from" list.

I recently sold a handgun via Gunbroker.com and I was required to ship the gun to an FFL dealer.

It really comes down to personal preference. I own a Ruger LCP and had the trigger pull reduced from about 8-10 lbs. to 5 lbs. The weight is about 14 oz. and the height, length, and width is that of many compact size (not sub-compact) pistols. It's been a good reliable firearm. Personally I would carry something like a Glock 43 or S&W M&P Shield. Both are striker fire, conceal well, and are lightweight. Can't speak to the Bodyguard.

I saw a small selection at Gander Mountain. Bass Pro had a couple but nothing great. The suggestion by Sunfish is a good option. I found shipping cost to be well in excess of $100 for one target. You might also ask some of the local gun shops where you can find targets in the area.

This is an amazing looking knife. I really like the detailed work, especially across the top of the blade. Is there another website where I could see more of your knives?

Good to hear about the trigger. I do recall a video by Sootch00 that mentioned the possible issue. Maybe that was just an isolated event. I wanted to like the original PPS 9mm but the trigger on the one I shot was gritty so I moved on. One of the issues with some Walther pistols was that the gap between the bottom of the mag and the handle grip could pinch a shooters hand. Does anyone know if that issue was addressed with the 2016 release of Walther's PPS M2?

I wanted to like the Mosquito but as many of you have said previously the reviews have not been that good. Ruger seems to be the favored pistol but does anyone have any info on the Ruger 22/45 Lite? I had read it was difficult to field strip.   http://www.ruger.com/products/2245Lite/models.html

I stopped by the Franklin Gun Shop in Brentwood TN and they had a 2075 RAMI. I was impressed with the way it fit my hand and liked it a better, from a fit stand point, than the CZ 75. It's on my going-to-get-it list but at about $600 it's not at the top of my list.

One of my objectives for posting this topic was to learn if firing a large number of rounds of ammo (let’s say 300 rounds) of a particular manufacturer, during a single visit to the range, would have the propensity to cause chambering issues, jams, or just reduce the overall performance of the gun.   What I am calling “dirty ammo” is ammo that would leave excessive residue in the barrel or trigger mechanism that could impact performance.  Based on what I have read so far, one manufacturer’s ammo is no better than another.  That’s good to know but a little surprising.

Interesting analogy with the fireplace wood. I do think some brands are better than others. I have read good reviews about Speer Gold Dot and Fiocchi ammo. Hornady is also a brand that seems to gain high marks with its powder and primer quality.

I went to the range today and used Blazer 124 grain 9mm ammo and was surprised how dirty my hands and my XD pistol were when I finished. I fired about 150 rounds and don't remember having as much black soot everywhere with Federal. I know it's all dirty to a point but can anyone recommend a 9mm ammo brand that tends to run cleaner than Blazer or PMC? - Thanks

I guess dirty ammo could be an issue. Hadn't really thought about it. I have learned the ported pistols are more for target shooting and the shooters might lean towards a more quality grade of ammo.

Based on most all of the comments to my post I think I'll just stick to a more traditional barrel for self defense. Good discussion!

The muzzle blast issue makes sense to me. I guess that's why it's part of the S&W Performance Center. It was designed more for target shooting than a self defense weapon. Great comments - Thanks all.

The appeal for me on the port is to improve recovery to the target and supposedly reduced recoil. I saw a video by Sootch (not sure of exact spelling) on YouTube testing the muzzle flash at night. He could not tell and significant difference in the brightness of the flash between the ported on non-ported versions.

I think they have non-ported performance pistols but just not in the Shield.

I believe the S&W M&P Shield Performance Center models with the ported barrels are relatively new. There were none listed for sale at Buds Gun-shop, Gun Broker, or Gallery of Guns.  I was wondering if anyone at TGO has any experience with those models. Or, if there are articles out there with information, other than what's on S&W. - Thanks

Thanks to everyone for their comments and even the offer to fire one of the handguns. I live in the Lebanon, TN area so I will find a local range where they rent different handguns. I will definitely want to shoot anything before I buy. I am hearing a lot of mixed opinions about the Sig so I might move that one down on the priority list. I will also check out videos by hickock45. I have heard he reviews quite a few guns. - Thanks again all!

Thanks for your reply. I agree with the M&P being difficult to shoot. I was able to fire about 75 rounds of 9mm with the Shield and was not as proficient as with my XD. The ported performance center version seem to get higher ratings due to the ported barrel and improved trigger but I am still not sure it's the one for me. I like your idea of renting a pistol but have found Sig, Walther and H&K are not readily available. I'll keep looking. I do appreciate your comment.

I am a new learner about different firearms for concealed carry. I do have a Springfield XD Mod. 2 9mm but am interested in a 40cal. My first choices seem to be the S&W M&P Shield 40 Ported Performance Center model, the Sig P-320 Compact, or the Walther PPQ M-2 in 40 caliber. Any thoughts are appreciated. - Thanks
