I hope you reach your goal and report then. I'm sure it will be fantastic.

I'll bite and say 226 Legion SAO, but then again I'm a single action guy, and the Sig just fits me a bit better than any 92 I've ever tried. I admit I've never tried a Wilson 92... If I had to go SA/DA if still pick the Sig 226 but I'm not sure the Legion version has an advantage, a better comparison might be a Bruce Gray 226 vs the Wilson 92.
  3. Sorry, the date messed things up for my buddy and I. I'm headed out of state for work tomorrow. Wish we could have done it. I'm very interested in these sessions. I will make it happen someday.
  4. At least he didn't bomb your house or car.... Garufa is right about the size and volume that they leave behind!
  5. That pic is from the inside and you can see the thumb latch on the deadbolt. Locks only provide security up to the strength of the door, glass door frame, etc. Security for a business like a gun shop needs to be layered to slow down the thief. Given time and tools its easy to break in, but if you can make it take time and make it a pain in the a$$ they will look for an easier target.
  6. My wife just went through the process. Costs were as I recollect... $50-$75 for safety class. She found a Group on coupon that saved some. It was for Shooters Depot in Chattanooga. Course cost was I think $50 after the discount. $100 at DMV after the safety class paid at DMV when they take your photo. They will also set up an appt for you at a fingerprint vendor. In her case it was a ups store. Now the wait... let me know if you have questions. I'll try to help.
  7. I was living up north then. I was at work and happened to be in a Coke bottling plant in Yonkers, NY on a service call when everything stopped I was brought up to the roof by my customer. We watched the towers fall with little information as to why. I remember as a child seeing the towers go up as my dad worked in Manhattan. It was surreal to see them gone in minutes. I don't talk about it much, but I'll never forget. It was a national tragedy that day, and those that served and serve today have my utmost respect. It effected us all then and we still feel the results of the cowards attack. I will never forget!
  8. I'm planning on it. Any objection to me bringing a friend?
  9. An inforce APLc for use on a bedside gun. Oh yea and my wife's CCW license.
  10. This is simultaneously hard to believe and ridiculously true. Some people will be idiots because they were born that way. It's no wonder that some countries think we're "gun nuts" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/09/08/florida-gun-owners-encouraged-shoot-storm-fire-guns-hurricane/
  11. I just had my wife read this... after she got done laughing she asked me if it was real. BTW she is not a gun person...
  12. This is only a problem for people that don't take responsibility for their own actions. It's simply too easy to say "but it shouldn't EVER go off EVEN when misused". "Its the manufacturers fault!" This is a cop out. Do your very best not to drop your gun, and if you do then own the consequences... Do I expect that a higher priced gun should be more resistant to firing when dropped? Yes, but when you go out of your way to try and find a way that a machine can be made to fail you will find it. If you drop it at a precise angle, from high enough, then inertia will have its effects. Don't mistreat your weapon, if you do expect it to mistreat you back... ANY mechanical safety can fail, accept that. Speaking of higher priced guns how many custom 1911's or Kimber's have NO firing pin block in them? How many have become an internet sensation? While we're at it how many Glocks or others get shot unintentionally when disassembling the gun? When it happens whose fault is it? I've always thought that having to pull the trigger to disassemble the gun was a silly idea. I'll admit that it hasn't kept me from owning them though. I accept the responsibility of unloading the weapon before disassembly. BTW I used to own a S&W 27 with Jordan grips that had a SS plate on the bottom. Purportedly Jordan wanted that plate for tacking up Wanted Posters. I wish I had never sold it...
  13. This size pistol has always had a strong following. Think of the Commander, and S&W 39 variants. This grip length makes for a very controllable weapon. Smaller grips are easier to conceal. Its an age old discussion capacity, size, control, concealment. That said, this fills a noticeable gap in the M&P lineup. If I was looking for a gun this size I'd have to consider it.
  14. You mean Waaaaaaaaaaay back when people used common sense and thought for themselves? To quote my son that must have been like 1970!
  15. So when are we going to see guns that are hammer proof??? Let the panic begin. Of course if you treat every gun as if its loaded you won't be dropping it, and less likely to use a hammer on it. Accidents can happen, but we also lived for many years with the original design 1911, high power, P38, etc and whole army's that treat their guns very roughly didn't have wide spread accidents.
  16. While IRMA will visit the area, it won't be a hurricane. Rain fall is expected to be in the 2-4" range but its hard to predict well. Winds will also likely be below 40mph and gusty not sustained. I have friends in FL that have prepared as well as they can, they have not received an evac. order. My family in NC appears to be in a safer place.... Buckle in but don't fall for the hype we're much better off than those in FL and the Caribbean islands!
  17. If you have a local gunsmith they should have an assortment of coil spring stock. It wouldn't be hard to make a spring that would fit. These are usually fairly stiff springs. I used to make them often enough that I had a feel for how "springy" the extractor needed to be...
  18. Best place to get help moving in the right direction will be to talk to the university rifle coach. They want to help talent out. They will be up on what's available locally. They may also be willing to have him attend practice and a match or two. He gets to help out, learn the ropes, and maybe participate in practice.
  19. We're having a family reunion and a few friends over. Barbecue and good friends and witnn a bit of luck a great show.
  20. This will work for most birds. Have a buddy that had a buzzard problem in Florida. A rubber turkey decoy hanging in a tree almost completely solved it. They eventually come to associate the location with death and move on. I had turkey issues up in NY (eating seed)and we would shoot one on a nuance permit and let it lay in the field. They learned quick from that, not something you want to do at a lake house though....
  21. Not sure how I missed this thread... I will echo Daves comments above about those that serve and have served. I have several friends that are in LE and the Military I am humbled by your commitment. I'm a transplant from far Northern NY, I lived in the other part of NY (Adirondack Mtns) where it's more like TN than the "City". As soon as the kids were out of the house and the wife could retire we were gone... I'm a regional manager (Eastern US) selling industrial valve products. I got into the business by mistake 25 years ago and worked my way through several jobs and companies to get to this point. I also held an FFL 01 and had my own gunsmithing shop for nearly 20 years, also owned a one hour photo shop before digital cameras. Sold that and answered the ad for a valve sales guy and here I am... I'm self taught in many things and have had very good fortune to work with some great people that mentored me over the years. It's great to be part of thevery TGO community. I've met a few others here and look forward to meeting more of you.
  22. Hey all, I ordered 2 holsters from Cooks https://www.cooksholsters.com/ a while back and am very happy so far. Hard to find someone to make a Kydex holster for the Canik SF Elite but they do. Anyway, I got a special offer from them and thought I'd pass it on to the TGO community. 20% off through end of day on July 5 using coupon code FREEDOM16 I am very happy with the holster the fit is great. I also bought a mag pouch and its a bit sloppy on the fit not as happy with it. Not a bad deal and I thought I'd share it.
  23. Like it or not I have issues with ginsing hunters, as well as traditional hunters that have no respect for property lines and will be having my property surveyed for accurate placement of all signs and paint. After reading all this I'll be discussing with the surveyor blazing the property lines with purple paint as part of the process.
