  1. Barracuda offers a system that has cloud storage and is motion activated to save space and time. https://www.barracuda.com/products/cudaeye
  2. I believe that it was said in the speech that if we can make a spring bottles child proof then we should make guns child proof or words like that... I don't know your experience but I don't think that fast access to a asprin wasn't needed to save your life or others. In fact you won't find true life saving emergency drugs like nitroglycerin or an eppi pen in child proof packaging... Of course this isn't about life saving is ithe it's about "common sense"
  3. Plus one on this. If it doesn't look good to you after take a small bit of cold blue on the 0000 steel wool and lightly buff the area. My favorite for this is Oxpho blue from Brownells
  4. NICE! I've yet to see a FF trigger but every thing I've heard is that they are a real step up from Art Jewels design.
  5. Yep, your right. I typed the first thought that entered my head. Proof positive that just because I have a thought doesn't mean I have to say it out loud...
  6. Everyone's plans are subject to the personal situation. It has to be very basic easily understood by all ages involved. AS your kids get bigger you may choose to revise your plan. For me the rally point is on our property, but our layout demands this.   For the plan to survive first contact in any useable way it must be very basic, easy to remember, and also flexible.   Just my 2 cents
  7. Malfunctions after so few rounds are more likely caused by over lubrication holding the un-burnt powder in the gun and causing issues. That said it is more a problem with the gun than the ammo or even lubrication. You should be able to shoot at least 500 rounds with nothing more than maybe a little application of lubricant. Quality weapons will function well even when so dirty that they leave your hands stained with soot. Many LE agency's as well as the military torture test with large volumes of ammunition between cleanings.   I give my guns a basic cleaning between range sessions and a more detailed cleaning every other one. Sometimes this works out to a good cleaning only every 1000 rounds and I don't have reliability problems.
  8. Understanding who does what is the first priority. If someone isn't fighting then they should be getting to a safe location without endangering themselves. Your 15year old is the one that will need the most guidance about what is safe and how to get there. Identify a couple of safe or safer locations in your home and keep access to them clear. Stock them with a method to defend the position, and possibly an old cell phone plugged into a charger (Even an inactive cell phone will dial 911).   I have a day pack with a phone inside but with the wire running out through an earphone port as a grab bag. I can grab and go without unplugging. The bag is also stocked with a spare pistol, flashlight, and some other essentials. THink about the contents of a bag like this for a friend it includes an asthma inhaler and an eppipen. Everyone's needs are different.
  9. It looks like a liquid to liquid heat pump. I have seen similar systems in industrial applications (Paper Mills) but MUCH larger. I would think there may be an efficiency trade off that might make it less than economical for home heating. You will be using electricity to run the compressor and that has to come from somewhere and isn't free.   If you know someone that does geothermal heat systems they could probably explain it better and give you an idea if it is practical to use as their equipment will work in a similar fashion.
  10.   I hadn't thought about it but this is my experience as well.   I probably have a promag or two laying around somewhere and I probably ought to dispose of them so someone doesn't depend on them working...
  11. Common sense security won't come from govt. regulation... it will be driven by the insurance company. If your premium goes down because you build a row of bollards, or other features to prevent the crash and grab stores will make the decision based on economics. Now why the store didn't make changes to prevent this, I don't know. I would look at my store with the eye of a criminal and ask how would I break in. Then do what I could to reduce the risk. The trick is to make the risk to high for the reward.
  12. That's the $64,000 question. In a world where everyone seems to have been prescribed some forms of anti depressants or even just been told that that "may be depressed" are they excluded from firearms ownership without due process just because a Dr, PA, or whatever says so? Like many things HIPAA seems to be applied by a variable set of rules...
  13. 15rnd and blue. I bought them to save wear on the factory mags I had. I don't think you would see any performance difference because of finish. But for carry I'd think about nickel for sure. The 9mm is all gone now all I have in S&W are revolvers and 40cal. Kind of wish I had that 5906 back...
  14. Here's Sage showing me the way to the Rabbit den, or maybe it was Skunk. We didn't explore it fully. He liked the avatar idea too! Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
  15. I have had good success with the Mec-gar mags but they aren't quite as smooth as the factory mags and I had one that was a bit reluctant to lock in. If you can get some factory mags do it. Wolff sells the mag springs and I keep extras around along with recoil and hammer springs. They were nicely made weapons. I still have a 4026 that was shot more than I can count in USPSA matches.
  16. I added a hiviz front sight to mine and it was worth it.
  17. Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind but it will be a while before I could get there with my work schedule. If I know I'm coming to the area I'll PM you.
  18. I know some of the lower cost ammo runs very dirty. Maybe concerns about un-burned powder getting in the eyes etc.? Just a guess...
  19. Very informative post, I knew some of his but not all. For what it's worth I have a 2004 vintage left hand 11FCL that shoots 1/2moa easily. I'm not selling it any time soon!
  20. Thanks. She looks like a Daisy Mae to me...
  21. I'll be interested to learn more. I'm a bit of a rimfire nut. Mostly 4 position free rifle. But I've done one BR50 match and some aspirin shooting. The 2500x action is very nice! What other components did you use?
  22. I'm a fan as well. I also like Rowans Creek. Actually a little more...
  23. I still haven't decided yet. I will report back here when I do. The decision is going to be based on price as the 2 presses are so close in ratings etc. I used to have a friend with a Lee load master. It is a big step up from the Lee 1000, but the priming system was always a bit troublesome. It get stuck and you would have rounds loaded without primers... not good. If you go with the Lee just remember you will have to mess with it often if that doesn't bother you its a bargain.
