Refusing to answer is recorded as an answer that may draw unwanted attention in and of itself. It's sad that you have to read and sigh a HIPPA form that tells you all about your privacy and how important it is, violators will be prosecuted etc.. This gives people a sense of trust in the Dr and staff that is false. In a heart beat they would provide all your info to the Govt and of course the Govt would never prosecute itself. It is just looking out for you and the public's safety. A polite no will suffice for me.

This question is lso recommended under O Care... the idea is that if you are diagnosed and then ajudicated by the court as a danger to yourself or someone else they Wil know to notify the "authorities ". I have always nswered with a simple "no". The less fuss I make the less noticeable I am. Besides I'm not under oath or anything.

Anyone else use these trigger guard holster thingamajigs?
Sidecarist replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
I've seen a couple of videos showing these with the cord looped around the belt, and the gun basically being carried "mexican" style. If done that way movement is a concern I have. When I was making kydex holsters I made some scabbards from thin .040 material that just covered the slide & trigger guard just for what you describe, or glove compartment use. -

Never tried one. It sure is the definition of minimalist. Do you have any issues with the weapon shifting/moving around? -
Is reloading not worth it on the common pistol cartridges?
Sidecarist replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Well I'm about to start loading 9mm so I'm in for a treat... I've loaded 45acp for many years and found it to be very forgiving compared to 40s&w, 10mm, 41mag, and others. -
I purchased a new Diesel pickup last year. I had 300,000mi on the last one and my son wanted it. I made a decision to drive all three brands and pick the one I liked the best. After some internet research I found it almost impossible to get a good picture of reliability. There were many claims of this brand it best and that one is horrible. Transmissions, turbos, ECM's you name the part and they all have huge failure rates according to the internet. I did look up some real people and ask them their opinion of what they owned and found that most people like their truck but have a few comments about smaller items. Big failures weren't that common. I got a better feeling looking someone in the eye while asking their opinion, than the big online forums. Here at TGO there are many interests and you can get a feel for someones attitude if you hang around much, not quite as good as face to face but better than totally anonymous... I was told by a fellow the other day that my truck was a ticking bomb and that by 40Kmi it would be a smoking hole in my wallet because it was the wrong brand. Funny thing is that it already has 59kmi on it and about 1/3 of that is hauling a 24' enclosed trailer.... Do your research, but buy what is comfortable and you can get good service on if needed. Much like guns the dealer can be as important as the car itself.

I am sorry for you that it didn't work out for Daisy to become a permanent member of your pack. I am happier that you were able to place her in another loving home. Your willingness to do all that you have done for Daisy shows great compassion. Thank you again and thanks to Daisy's new pack leader as well!

I couldn't find anything specifically forbidding it as well. It's still something I wouldn't ever do. In theory if the firing pin safety is working correctly no AD would happen, BUT if an AD happened your thumb is in all the wrong places... Cocking a revolver and an auto-loader are very different things. The downrange consequences of an AD are the same. The consequences for the shooter are very different.

Anyone recently get their HCP?
Sidecarist replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I agree about the instructors comments fir sure. I guess that my background and past history living in NY state makes me think differently. It's she that I grew up having to think like that but there it is... It's good that they don't keep a record, but I guess they probably recorded somewhere that you rented a gun and it was a 22. Hopefully it would never matter! In the end shoot what you need to to get the permit, and then shoot what you depend on for defense as much as possible. Practice, practice, practice.? -
I had a forester and while it was a good car I won't buy another. I'm a big guy 6'4" 270lb and it was uncomfortable on long trips. It was also a bit noisy. It was great in snow and confidence inspiring to drive. Power was ok, I never felt like it wouldn't do what was needed. I have rented several Edges for work only one awd that I drove in bad weather (snow in MN) and it was fine. Over all more comfortable, more spacious and plenty of power as well.

I have no problem using a 22. My concern would be down the road if there was ever litigation about a shooting incident and there were stray rounds that it might come back to haunt you. I'd hate to have it said that I qualified with a 22 and then missed with a 9,40,45 etc. For me a 22 is a great plinking gun, and is very useful for diagnosing and correcting trigger control issues. and I use them in competition as well. Not for me as a defense weapon unless that was all O could use for some other reason such as physical disability or I couldn't afford a more powerful weapon. Use what you need to to get your permit, but practice with what you carry and document your performance with it if you can. -

None, you can even use a 22 in the class but it's not recommended. I would use what I plan to carry to reduce any liability. The course of fire is VERY easy. My wife was worried so we have practiced it. She shot a passing score 80% the first time and she hadn't even fired 100 rounds in her whole life. By the 3rd try she shot a perfect score. She's using an M&P shield and a Sig P320 both in 9mm. The Sig is is easier to shoot mostly because of a longer sight radius. COF is: 20rnds at 3 yds 20rnds at 5yds 10rnds at 7yds Target is a B29 scored: shots inside the 7 ring or touching it = 2pts Shots outside the 7 ring but in the colored area 1pt 70% or better to pass -
Ask theme to see the box for the actual model number. It's hard to say what the B means at a big box store... A P226 is a sweet gun if you like the DA/SA action. My P229 and P220 will never get sold
-
I'm not sure I like the idea. There are many things that could go badly here. In the end it may be up to the RO at the match I would explain what I was doing before doing it to avoid the surprise... Practice that DA first shot, or get a SA pistol.

Been there done that! I installed a sidecar on a bike in the living room one winter. The deal was that she got a picture windows installed in the spring so I could get it out in one piece. Wish I still had that bike... Keep her for sure!

Nice... I missed that in the thread. I may have to try them

It is very high with the clips set up as in the photo. They can be moved down in 1/2in increments upto 1 1/2in. I'm still figuring out the best location, but I'm long waisted and it's not a problem for me up all the way. The only other change I'm going to ake is to remove the anti print wing from the IWB. For me it's not needed, but it might work better for someone slimmer than me...

I recently picked up a SIG P220 Carry. Live the gun, but finding a holster was a bit of a problem. A standard P220R holster is 1/2" longer than needed and for me the shorter length was the reason for the gun. After some research I found Patriot Holsters in Texas. I asked about the P220 Carry and received a very quick response that yes they could do it. Patrick there even included a photo of his own P220 Carry that would be used for the form. This fast response was a big part of my decision to give them a try. Throughout the process they communicated promptly and even caught an error on my order and sent me an email to make sure I would get what I wanted. The holsters arrived today and I am very happy with the construction and workmanship. If you have a need please consider Patriot holsters. They treated me right and deserve a shout out for it. http://patriotholsters.net

Particularly out West truckers started using autosocks http://www.autosock.us instead of chains. Easier on the back for sure. It does look a bit strange, but they all say it's better than chains even on ice. There is a speed limit, and no dry pavement or they melt but it may be an option for some. As a upstate (almost canada) to TN transplant the way snow is handled here is different for sure, but it also doesn't stick until mid april! I'll take the inconvenience

I have a Sig P320 and love it. Right around $550 + tics & tax. Even came with a paddle holster good enough to get by with until I make one or pick one up that I like. Very comfortable gun too, but it won't replace the P229 & P220 for carry. It's more of a house/truck gun

Sadly I think that some 1911s are rushed out the door and with Kimber it seems like they try to make every one a match gun with right fit on everything. It's simply not needed. I would gladly go into battle with my Commander as I haven't had a failure of any kind in years that wasn't a handload issue. If you spend that much on a weapon it should be 100% no excuses. Some have had customer service issues with a variety of brands. None of them are acceptable. If you have a problem do what you can to hold them accountable and make it right. It's the only way they learn. FWIW I have a friend with a crimson carry that has been flawless. He's happy with it.

I have carried a Combat Commander for years. Comm's advice about the weight requiring a good holster and belt is true. The belt is particularly important. I carry in Condition 1 (Cocked & Locked) with no worries but practice is IMPORTANT the safety can NOT come off until you are on the target. Practice this and it will not slow you down. If at all possible buy a holster with a high sweat guard. It will protect your body from the safety and the hammer/ It also encourages you to keep the thumb off the safety until you have cleared the holster. Practice, Practice, Practice... Congrats
