  1. BTT and another small donation.   Thanks for what you are doing for our furry friends!
  2. Some guns will leave strange marks on the primer. Glocks can leave a rectangular impression. It's caused by the design of the firing pin and it's hole in the breach face not all guns do this.. I am not familiar enough with yours to say, but the fact tat factory ammo is similarly marked makes me think that this is so. The firing pin impression also shows a drag mark where the gun is starting to unlock before the firing pin is fully retracted. This is also common particularly on smaller guns. See if you an use the ammo in another gun and compare.
  3. I almost always use my support hand thumb. It just seems to work better for me. Even on the sigs where the release is set back I still do it.
  4. I was just gifted a legion 226SAO and the trigger is very impressive. I started with Sigs in the mid 90s when the 229 came out and that one has been super durable. The Legion package to me was more about the X-ray sights (Trijicon HD), the trigger parts, grips and the PVD finish. I wish I could get similar grips for my others, and we'll see how the finish wears. Accuracy is tops. In my avatar thats 45 rounds at 10yds. OK 44 there is a stray hidden by the grip, but that's on me, not the gun. The hype and marketing means nothing to me but the gun has substance
  5. How much of it was large vs small primer? They don't have only large in stock. Thanks
  6. A 4x or 3-9x is about right. The higher the magnification the more critical eye placement is behind the scope. Longer eye relief also makes this worse. Another option is use a red dot sight. Not as precise but kids of all ages love them. Scopes branded for use on 22's are usually lower optical quality and not suitable for competitive use. But for plinking and informal target practice they are great. 100yds can be tough to shoot with a 22 as the wind will have a big effect and most people never learn how to read it so the can compensate for the effect. Try 50 or even 25 yds. My son's favorite thing when he was about 8 was shooting neco wafer candies. They are cheap and shatter into a satisfying cloud of dust. Start them close and work the range out to make it harder as they improve. I made a simple board with a saw cut in it so they would stand up. For a real challenge try aspirin tablets at 50ft from offhand, or even better golden eye where you put empty 22 brass in the holes of a target and then shoot them out. Again this is a close range game 50ft or less for younger ones
  7. I was at one yesterday and saw a woman hurt herself badly by wrapping her offhand thump over the top on a hipoint. She even had someone there helping her. Lots of poor gun handling had me twitching the whole day. One loose round inside a concrete box and... I'd rather shoot our doors in the rain!
  8. Duh, I should have looked there and saved myself some time! Thanks runco
  9. I'm looking for once fired 45acp brass. Not much out there and what I can find is $12 per 100! I'd buy a couple thousand if the price is right. Prefer LG primer but would accept mixed if needed.
  10. Just my 0.02 opinion here. There is a thought that you could have an un-intentional discharge leading to liability in court. I don't think this would be a criminal matter, but rather a civil one. Civil suits are harder to win against someone that has been exonerated of criminal charges. Personal opinion is that if you can prove that you could shoot more accurately and that this may have prevented a miss when the shooting us righteous in every other way then likely not a problem. The issue with your statement above is that single action gives you more accuracy at extended range. At what range as the threat stopped being a threat to your life? This will vary based on the weapons used against you as well as distance. .. Only you can answer these questions at the time of the conflict. But IMHO it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6...
  11. I was in a small but we'll stocked gun shop a week ago. I mentioned that I had learned about them on TGO. They were surprised and not familiar with the site. I gave them info, and also sent them a note to check it out. I don't want to just call them out here by name but if TGO david or other mod wants to solicit them for vendor status I'll gladly give the info via PM. I did my best as a customer to direct them toward TGO I will say that if I was still in the gun business I'd have to look at it hard. There is a great group here and potential sales.

    Glock 43

I tried both, in the end the shield felt better to me and more importantly my wife as it is her primary. Both shot about the same. The glock is slimmer too.
  13. Nice I'll have to check them out. Do you have experience with the coated bullets?
  14. All of this said, the hand loads seemed go eject fine and operate well. There was also a mention of seating the primers less deep. Pardon my ignorance but how would I achieve that?[/quote] I wouldnt try. Primers are intended to be seated against the bottom of the pocket. This ensures that the primer anvil doesn't move from firing pin impact. You want all of the firing pin energy to go into the primer not into seating it deeper. The photos can be deceiving because of the angle. I simply would worry about it unless you start seeing failures to fire. Even then I'd look at replacing the brass... Regardless the primer should ALWAYS be seated below the case head. To prevent slam fires.
  15. Music man is right you need a pre lock S&W. My current favorite is a 610 in 10mm auto. That SA trigger is to die for, and the DA ant bad either
  16. I'm just busting on comms you'll understand after a while... The most important part of caliber selection is being able to shoot it well. You may or may not choose to move up to more powerful weapons in the future. For my wife she decided she liked a 9mm S&W shield the most. At the time the glock 42 wasn't available or the decision may have been different... Again welcome to the group.
  17. I really like the contrast in the bocote scales. Another one for someone to be proud of!
  18. Really you'd rather they use a 380 than a 40? That's just narrow minded... Welcome to the group!
  19. I'm closer to Chattanooga, but I do get up that way on occasion. Thanks!
  20. Same thing happened to me except it was a SIG legion SAO... Then my wonderful wife bought it for me as a Surprise! Have faith and patience good things can happen to those that are earning puppy karma.
  21. I've been very lucky over the years to have had a couple of super lgs to go to. The search is half the fun...
  22. I my opinion you will find many more good functional examples of the hi power than the star. General quality was better.
  23. I used to have a New York State CCW permit, NY Gun Dealer License, NY Gunsmith License, FFL, I now have Global Entry card, TWIC card, TN CCL, and some others I can't remember them all...   I have joked that I should have "FBI approved" tattooed on me somewhere. The NY permit and dealers licenses required 5 sets of prints EACH every 3 years! I can't imagine what our Military guys have to go through.   People who obey the law and don't have a record, are highly unlikely to ever get a record.
  24.   Well I guess I'm a small business sympathizer. Having been a small business owner, and now working for another small business I'm probably prejudiced...   If you feel that you don't get any value from shopping in your community thats your choice. I believe that there is value there. The local community needs to be supported, or we simply won't have any community someday. We will all live our lives waiting for UPS and the mail.   Don't get me wrong here I don't just freely spend my hard earned cash without a care. I need to see value in it. Yes I may pay a small amount more, but convenience and product knowledge are worth something, and I'm willing to pay a bit for that. I don;t like to shop at big box stores, or small businesses where the service is poor. It's not worth my time. I went into an LGS about a month ago. When I couldn't get the attention of a staff member after about 10 min of waiting, I left and will not go to that shop even for a deal now. They haven't earned my business or added value for me.   I'm fairly new to TN and I could have lived anywhere I want east of the Mississippi. I want to be a working part of the local community. I could have moved to a state with low or no sales tax etc. In the end the people and the eastern TN mountains brought me here. I will support locals, and I hope they will support me.   Rant off
