I just bought one with the case feeder. Set up in 9mm,40,& 45acp. Soon to add 223. Like all progressives it's a bit fiddly to set up, but nothing hard. Some trial & error on things like case mouth expanding with the case activated powder drop. Also the case feed took me 5 min to dial in. Primer feed seems reliable and was easy to set up. Buy extra primer tubes as you only get one of each size. I thought the die bushings would be a gimic but on a progressive they make sense. Buy extras you'll be glad. I'm going to try a bullet feeder in the future but not sure which one yet. I bought mine through Grafs as they had the best deal. The only other thing I plan on is an ergo roller handle but I'm 6'4" if I was 6'2" I wouldn't care.

30th Anniversary of FBI Miami Shootout
Sidecarist replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Training Discussions
Not total bravo sierra, but over simplified. I took a class from Randy and he related this story in a bit more detail. I also travel extensively for work and there is a clear difference in tolerance of bad behavior. Maybe not all about family lineage, but very much about self sufficiency. As a transplant from the north east it is true that many people are really sheep living in a city being dependent on others for every necessity of life will do that. More self sufficient people are just more willing and equipped to take care of business, any type of business. This makes them less likely to accept victim status and the protection of others. As redneck as it is get-r-done applies to many southern folks. I'm glad to be here too! -
Welcome!

How to tell .40 cal S&W brass cases from steel cases
Sidecarist replied to goodet's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Simple way is a magnet. Tarnished bass can be dark, but will never be magnetic. Steel is always magnetic. -
Pics Added-How to stop a crack in a wooden handguard?
Sidecarist replied to Pete123's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
It looks like the forward band would prevent too much stress on the crack. If it was me I would carefully reassemble the stock looking for any stress points that might contribute to it growing particularly any twist. Relieve any stress if possible working only on hidden surfaces. Then I'd measure the crack length as precisely as possible. To keep an eye on any growth. If you wanted to renforce it use a piece of fine paper or thin 100% cotton cloth soaked in WHITE GLUE as this is reversible with just a bit of water. (Not enough to swell the stock) -
suggestions on how to video monitor long distance driveway?
Sidecarist replied to seez52's topic in General Chat
I'd be interested in this too. I have a long own hilarious driveway as well no line of sight to the house maybe 200' elevation difference. No piwer, but will be adding a solar gate and should have lots of available battery power. I'd prefer a WiFi solution but haven't started looking at the possibilities. -

Some of the ideas here are good about strain relief and glue. Gorilla glue should be avoided for spit repair as it expands as it cures. I repaired a thin shotgun fore end by sanding the inside to get some wood dust I thinned titebond glue and added the dust then rubbed it in the split from the inside. Carful to not get the glue on the outside of the stock. Then as extra insurance I added a very thin piece of fiberglass cloth mixed with the glue dust mix to the inside as there was clearance. The fiberglass was from model airplane building and was slightly thicker than paper. As far as I know this repair lasted and its been 10 years+ -
That's a very nice example from the photos and worth every penny. TT, & TH are indeed target trigger (wide and serrated). Not the best for fast DA work, but awesome for single action. The target hammer has a wider spur as in the photos. I love that old blue S&W box with the wrapper. Very nice, thanks for sharing.

I think is sad that anyone dies in unusual circumstances. I think it's a tragedy when a soldier dies in the service to his country and so few notice. Veterans day means something! We don't know the names of all the soldiers that die, or are wounded in the service to our country but I think of them whenever I see a solider, a monument, or our flag. Sadly prince or other celebrity figures die, but regardless of how influential that have been their life isn't worth more celebration, or memory that any others. The news don't discuss the statistics of KIA, WIA, MIA, or the plight of our Veterans because they don't get to listen to their favorite song, or reminisce about them. It's selfish and sad. There is a bigger fight to fight and we're in it now. We can change the direction of our political future for better or worse in November. When you vote think of those VOLUNTEER soldiers and what they thought about as they took the oath.

I'm so sorry to hear that she lost her fight. My prayers are with you both. I hope your memories give you comfort.

That's just plain cool. He didn't let the defendant off, but did make sure he could serve his time safely. A very cool way to show Respect. -
gunsmith problems - Opinions on what i should do
Sidecarist replied to 22magnim's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
If he's in NY state. Only one party needs to know of the recording and that can be the person doing the recording. Per NY law this is ok even if one person is in another place. I have none idea about TN law. -
I'm late to the party, but prayers sent. I hope that today you will both be on the road to recovery

Well then I am most assuredly not a "damn yankee" I get along better with more here than I did in far upstate NY

After 25 years with the perfect woman...
Sidecarist replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Funny thing, many non gun owners look upon us as potential criminals, or war mongers etc. I of course know better but reading a thread like this just proves that many of us have more humanity and love for our families than most of the "main stream" would ever believe. You are lucky to be so happy, that happiness gives you strength. I wish you well and thanks for sharing. -
Showed this to my wife. She flinched at the right moment well before telling shot broke. Trained her right I think... Good demo of just about everything that can be done wrong with gun handling. Now if we can get that man a trash bag to see if he can clean up his mess. One way or another...

I didn't even know the show was on, but had a flight of 2 A-10's circle my house on Dayton mtn. Friday and Saturday, very cool, low & slow. I got a good look at them. I saw them several years ago in Columbus MS on the ground at a show there. The cannon is evil looking... Makes me glad that our great guys are flying such a weapon in defense of the USA.

When NY State Police went to glocks they specified a minimum 10lb trigger pull. Going from revolvers to a 10lb glocks didn't seem too bad to them. Several sheriff's departments had already made the switch to standard glocks and there were a few leg wounds from unsafe gun handling while holstering (booger hook/bang switch interface). The solution was to make it harder to shoot the gun under any circumstances rather than train the officers properly. Truly sad... I'm not sure if that's what you got but the parts changed for the NY trigger were the connector and spring. Both make a difference alone, and added together they make for a 10lb trigger. I don't know if they have that option for the 43 though I guess it's possible.

I've read about this one somewhere else. It does show that determination and never giving up count for a lot. In the end the officers better training won out, but it could have gone the other way. I don't know if the 9mm vs 45 argument even matters those hits with a 9mm wouldn't have stopped the guy either. I wouldn't argue with the officer about swithcing to 9mm. He's been there and seen the elephant and I'm glad that he survived to teach others about it. The lesson for me I'd NEVER give up, and NEVER stop thinking. Officer Garmin stayed in the fight and figured out what he needed to do to win.

Haven't tried that, but have had bacon infused bourbon... quite good. I'd try it!
