I'm not an NFA owner having just moved from the totalitarian state of NY. I'd like to be but cost keeps me from it so far. Capitalism will work if given a chance. No one wants to be stuck with expensive inventory, or find out that they just completed paperwork on a $1000 can that will be $250 in the near future. I doubt that the existing NFA manufacturers really want it in the short term, but if they look at the long term it would be good for them. Yes there are those that would make their own but most don't have the skills or equipment. I think that the hunting community will be (if its not already) the biggest driver behind this they have the most to gain from hearing safe(r), guns.

Most UPS stores are not owned by UPS. Many of them have policy's that apply only to that store but do not reflect actual UPS policy. If a "UPS Store" won't take it go to a service center or try another location of the "UPS store".

NPR attacks Katie Couric's Anti-gun Documentary
Sidecarist replied to Moped's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes the press lying does effect people. I wish there was a simple way to keep them honest, but in the end much of this is about opinion, and or slanted point of view as much as outright lies. Individuals need to demand integrity in journalism. Only the consumer can make the judgement to view, read, consume what the journalist produces. This should be capitalism at work but many people simply don't bother to educate themselves about issues and will drink any koolaid they are offered. It is truly sad... -
I'm a firm believer in NOT advertising for gun companies and the NRA on my truck etc. I also limit shirts etc to when I'm going to the range etc.

Go to a hardware store and find a washer that fits as closely as possible. It may take 2 washers stacked to get the thickness right. You may have work it back & forth to get it to come out. After you get it open put a very thin film of grease on television o-ring and edge of the cover to keep it from sticking in the future. I do this on all new items too, it saves me lots of grief. I like silicone or synthetic grease like super lube for this. Good luck!

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press should be held to different standards. I'm not sure it can or should be done on a legal level because of the interpretation problems... However individuals MUST hold the press accountable for publishing lies. The average citizen doesn't exercise critical thinking enough. This is both more and less of a problem with online media. Online sources are more sensitive to pressure from readers, but also more likely to take a risk and publish an article without substantiation... Do you think critically about what you read or hear? I have strong feelings about many things but I try to weigh every argument on its merits and based on what I think the publisher might have to gain from expressing their views. Freedom of speech doesn't make everyone that speaks "right" about what they say... -
Nice pic! Double check to see what was attracting him/her. If they get it in their mind to get something to eat they can be awfully destructive.

Those Sandy's had a rough life flying in the weeds, saved a lot of guys too!

I'm keeping all of those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country at the front of my mind today. The Warriors and those that they left behind. Thank you all!

Spiffy would know. He's got a ton of patches. All different types...
-
I'd be in for either with a slight lean toward embroidered. What about a matching 1x3in patch for the back if most hats that spells out Tennessee Gun Owners Fourm, or the Web address?

There you go, that barrel and some good penrtrating bullets would make a decent Rocky mtn back up gun. Possibly use a longer barrel in a compact frame. Not much more weight but better ballistics...
-
I had forgotten about 400 cor-bon. The question is can you get a barrel for your XD

I'd be looking at something like the 629PD or other revolver. 10mm autos are hard to make light as the slide velocities are very high. The manufacturer has to assume you will shoot it a lot more than you are planning to. In some things durability and weight come together or you have to look at exotic materials. If grizzlies are your concern I'd think a deep penetrator bullet would be important. Something like the Lehigh defense penetrator might be loaded in the 45acp/460 Rowland and work for your needs if you really want a light auto pistol. Not fun to shoot but in the time of need you won't notice.

Improving M&P Shield Trigger
Sidecarist replied to shotgunshooter's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I agree on the reliability side. If it doesn't work it's just an oddly shaped rock... These problems interest me. I always learn something about some of the interactions between parts and function. Unexpected problems can have very interesting solutions. -

I wonder why the trigger parts would cause FTFs? Strange that... -
S&W M&P in back pocket: Interesting sight
Sidecarist replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'll take bets that many on this forum can tell the difference between the sound of a polymer frame pistol, and a steel frame pistol hitting the floor from 50ft in a walmart... This sort of thing gives us a bad reputation, very sad. -

Improving M&P Shield Trigger
Sidecarist replied to shotgunshooter's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Look at this link for a pretty good explanation of how to do a shield trigger job. If you are not comfortable with this work then leave it to your gunsmith... YMMV http://www.burwellguns.com/M&Ptriggerjob1.htm -
I don't want you see him fail, but I'm ot interested in funding his business. I think he has shown poor judgment, I'm exercising my best judgment to train elsewhere. No malice here.

I looked in to his school as well as others. In the end I decided not to associate myself with someone that chooses to (in my opinion) act like a jack ass. If I'm spending my hard earned $$ for training I want the instructor to publicly reflect my values and behavior. I'm taking the class to improve my competency, not for bragging rights. Many of his videos etc have good information in them. A few of those videos have pushed the limit too far for my personal comfort. THis has caused me to spend my money elsewhere.

An appropriate reminder of the sacrifice that our volunteer warriors make and have made. Thank You.
