So the government is going to infringe in everyone's rights more and fail to make us safer... We are at war and the USA has never fought a war on our home soil. We need to toughen up and be aware that the enemy is among us. We are forced into reactionary defensive tactics if we don't want to loose a great many of our freedoms. Like it or not this is the choice. I pick keeping my freedoms (all of them) warts and all, and defending ourselves when attacked. If we allow ourselves to be terrorized they win. Don't allow yourself to freeze in terror and when struck, strike back with superior force, tactics, and most importantly courage. Our government isn't able to fix this simply because they can't be everywhere... The bad guys have a choice. Let the sleeping dog be, or kick him and suffer the bite. I hope that our country is up to the task.

Sidecarist replied to Sidecarist's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Thank, I'll check them out. -
I picked up a TP9SAV2 today and so far like it very much. The holster isn't to my liking so I'm in the market for a good kydex OWB anyone out thee picked one up yet? I may also look for other sights. Anyone know what other sights fit such as CZ, etc. Let me know before I break out the measuring tools if you can. Thanks!

Most problems with primers are not seating fully, or seating so hard that the priming compound gets crushed. Yours worked the second time I'm guessing that maybe you didn't seat them quite all the way. They should be just below flush with the case head. Some primers are harder than others but I rarely have had problems with stock guns. Modified guns particularly double action ouen have difficulties some times but reducing the hammer spring to far. Take it in stride and experience will give you the feel you need to make reliable ammo. To answer your question the name brands ae all good with only slight variation between them. As a rule magnum primers are for magnum cartridges. Match primers are for match grade accuracy usually in rifles.

There is a huge difference between dealers and service. My last truck was a 2005 Chevy diesel 350,000mi and I gave it to my son still going. When I was looking I looked at them all. Chevy won again because of the dealer being willing to work with me. They located a suitable truck and negotiated a reasonable price. One town away another Chevy dealer wanted 6k more for the exact same truck. I have friends with all brands and they have all had issues. I'm thankful that mine have been minor and I run them hard towing trailers about 1/2 the time. The rest is just lots of miles especially now. I change the fluids and filters more often than needed and use the best filters I can get. You get what you pay for and that includes the maintenance! YMMV so to speak...

I guess I simply don't get it. If 2A memorialized the right to "bear arms" how does that allow restrictions on HOW those arms are borne? If I choose to carry openly or concealed is not relevant to the 2A. I'm a simple guy, some say simple minded...but this nit picking cap just rubs me the wrong way.

In NYC commissioner Bratton says... Step 1 Use soothing words such as "I'm here to help" Syep 2 Get your @$$ kicked.

You diagnosed it correctly. Check and see if it passes the "plunk" test... Pull the barrel from your M&P and see if it just drops in the chmber. It will make a plunk noise as it goes in. It should fall in and fall back out. If so it will be ok. If not junk it.

Interesting. I work my truck hard and that would be a problem for me. Realistically many 1/2 ton trucks are used more like cars now and many won't see these problems but they will get the advantage of the light weight. It all depends on your use...

As they say... Pistols suck at stopping fights! Distance was the key, and I'm sure that the officer had plenty on his mind with all the traffic around him. Also a reminder to us all that LEO's have a Duty to intervene in situations like this. a civilian would be much less likely to intervene although I wouldn't turn my back on this situation for sure!

Not local for you, but SMKW in Sevierville has them in stock.

Look at this as a tool you're investing in. I have 2 leatherman, and a SOG. All are in good shape after years of use in the truck, bike, and tool box. Advice from all the other responses is all good. It's an investment that will be worth it.

S&W M&P in back pocket: Interesting sight
Sidecarist replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have seen similar things and it is true that not everyone should exercise the right that they have. People do stupid things and sadly there is no test for this type of stupidity (or poor judgment). Luckily many people learn better judgment just like kids do. We can hope for that, and do our best to act responsible and lead by example. -

So it IS possible to get a non resident NY permit
Sidecarist replied to NextExit's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Some county sheriff are OK and don't have a problem with law abiding citizens having a CCW permit. I lived in one of those county's for many years, then a new sherif and new judge changed it all overnight and no more new CCW permits. The NYSRPA has done a good job fighting the SAFE act etc. I'm still a member just to support them in those efforts. It's good, but I'll never see meaningful reform in my lifetime... -
So it IS possible to get a non resident NY permit
Sidecarist replied to NextExit's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well........sort of. You have to own real estate in one of those two counties and also prove that you occupy that property "part time". Even then the time it takes to get a permit in NY varies greatly depending on the county. Last time I spoke to anyone that knew Broome county was at 6 months+/-. Much of that is the 3 backround checks, county, state police, & FBI. All are done separately using one of 5 sets of finger prints taken at application. Three people must provide character references for you all must be NY residents and preferably within the county of application. There is more but you get the point. So you see its really not much of a possibility after all. This is one of the many reasons I moved to TN... -
This is Lee's advice. Their design uses a friction collet to hold the pin. Snug the collet up and size a case or two. The pin will slip in the collet to the right level, then tighten the collet good & tight...

I'll second all of this. The 30-30 is a fine deer gun to 200 maybe 250 yards. Bullet selection is important. Much of the old info is based on old bullet technology. With modern ammunition I wouldn't be worried about white tail deer at 200yds. it would also be handy for many other types of game. Put a receiver sight on it and you will truly be surprised at the accuracy and the speed that you can pick up targets with. A receiver sight on a lever gun changes it completely!

I'll raise a toast to Captain Kuss. It's an act of Valor to sacrifice ones self to save others. RIP

Agreed. A smart manufacturer would be able to come up with a program like that. Lets face it there isn't $500 in materials in your typical $1000 can, but I believe that there could be $250 in materials, and then there's engineering and regulatory paperwork. Prices would come down, but performance would still cost a premium. Customers would have greater choice, and would buy more on features & performance than availability. There would be a glut of low end cans quickly on the market, but the good and bad would get sorted out quickly enough.
