So Who Else Had Storm Damage From Last Night?
Sidecarist replied to Johnny Rotten's topic in General Chat
I had a near lightning strike, and lost my Internet modem and router. No trees or other damage this time, but there's been plenty in the past. -

Non-permitted carry on private property
Sidecarist replied to Cookies's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Run away... with no training, or standing as profesional security being ASKED to protect others WILL be a legal nightmare if something goes down. Run away.... -
I'm just north of Chattanooga we looked all along the eastern 3rd of the state. No kids for us and schools were not an issue. We have found that people have been welcoming. There are some impoverished areas and you need to look around your area to see who the neighbors will be. Other than that TN has been great for us. Good luck with your search

I've used weston bags, foodsaver, and generic commercial bags purchased at a restaurant supply house. Results seem to be about the same with all of them.

Look at the charter arms pathfinder series. It used to be that revolvers were more economical than autos. Not anymore. Also remember that it takes just as much material and labor to make a 22 as a 38. In the end you will get what you pay for. If it was me I'd look for a good used wheel gun rather than new, or buy a ruger mk series.

Xdm issue yesterday. Help needed.
Sidecarist replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
It's also possible on some guns for them to be ever so slightly out of battery and still let the striker fall. When this happens most of the energy is absorbed by the slide and the primer may never get touched. I've seen this happen with reloads where the case flare wasn't fully removed, or were dirty. Shoot it a bunch more and if it's reliable chalk it up to an anomaly. You may never know the exact cause. Stuff happens... -
It's probably already void as I opened it up and increased the sealing time slightly. I can't help but tinker...

Per Mark A''s suggestion I ordered the food saver jar attachment. I'll have it the end of next week and let you know how it works with the Weston 2300. Maybe post a pic or two.

I agree with garufa. Very nice rifle to have too! -
Thanks! I'll have to give it a try.

It's a weston 2300 comercial. I've thought of adding a vacuum port to the top cover and a small valve. Just haven't gotten around to it....

We use a weston sealer. Much better quality unit. Not cheap, but in the long run we would have been better off to start with it and not have 2 lower cost units fail and need replacement. It doesn't offer some of the special features like vacuum sealing jars. But for us it's not a big loss. We do use some food saver bags and like the pleated ones for large items.

I agree completely. Back in the day I worked on a mark II every week or so for the local bullseye shooters. Rarely had to fix one mostly upgrades & sights/red dots. While your at it replace the recoil spring. I'll guess that yours is toast by now. It's a good idea to replace them every 5-10k rounds depending on ammo etc. Cheap insurance to keep it running and reduce battering of that pin too.

There is a lady's group at Shooters Depot in Chattanooga. Info us on the website.

Sportsman's warehouse on Lee highway in Chattanooga has a good selection. I haven't found any local casters There are some here on the forum that sell brass from time to time. I haven't had a chance to get to a show here to check out the local suppliers.

I have one in desert tan and it's been very reliable. For the price it's hard to beat. Enjoy!

If it's in kydex I leave it there. In leather I remove it and wipe it down as needed. More in hot weather, etc. I rotate my carry ammo every 60 days. The mag in the gun gets fired, the spare goes in the gun. It seems that setback isn't as big an issue as it was years ago but I once had quite a scare with a 45acp and non ramped barrel with very hot cor-bon ammo. The case bulged, and primer set back leaking gas into my face. I measured rounds left after that and found several that had set back. Never want that to happen again! I tend not to clear my edc often because of this, and if I do I don't let the same round be chambered more than 3 times.

I like slip products, the ewl, and grease. They are almost scent free, and work well for me. I probably have several years worth. When it's u one I'll see what's available then.
