  1. I agree with this. The only caution I will add is do not make a change simply for the sake of change itself. TGO David had a focused reason for making the change. If you have a setup that works for you don't mess with it unnecessarily, the time will be better spent on drills. That considered, I have loved my Sigs for many years, I have a first gen P229 that still runs like a train and is in its second barrel. I did have an issue with the DA/SA transition that I was unhappy with. I had never shot Glocks (Gen 1) well at all, I never made the commitment to try. Years went by and I hadn't bought a new pistol in YEARS (Thanks NY). A move to the great state of TN and I was determined to cure my gap between the first and second shots. Many new striker guns are on the market, and I gave a P320 a try and I simply shoot it better than anything but a govt model. I used to dislike striker guns, but they have come a long way since the gen 1 glock...
  2. If they are pointing a gun at you threatening you... SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE. They are not expecting a violent response they are cowards. Then get away using any means you have and dial 911 asap. You have just been the VICTIM of a crime! It's surprisingly hard to set an airbag off. The sensors measure g load, speed and other parameters. They MAY not be an issue. Either way keep your thumbs out of the wheel for safety. This is a bad deal, I work hard on situational awareness and always try to keep 1/2 car length in front of me at a stop. Situational awareness is key, and quick reactions will be needed. What if........ your wife didn't have that 380!
  3. Mine will run now with milder loads, but it took a bit to get there. In the beginning the hotter the better. As the edges wore off the ceracote it got better. The muzzle in the slide was very tight as well. A bit of grease worked great. I know that most don't like grease on pistols but it worked. The gun field strips better now too. Good luck!
  4. +1 on this, I have a TP9SF, and also a TP9SF ELITE. They learned something in the year between those guns. The Elite is remarkable! I will admit that the Elite wasn't reliable out of the box. I think the rough tungsten ceracote was the issue. A dab of grease, and 100rnds seem to have solved it. I'm several hundred rnds past that now and it's 100%
  5. I tried it. For me the issues were: Seemed harder to aquire the dot than irons, this was a training issue for sure. I seemed to want the dot perfect before firing, again training issue and to many years of bullseye using a dot. Lighting issues, shooting from a dark area into a bright one or vice versa caused the dot to be too bright and flare, or be dim and very hard to find quickly. Size and keeping it clean enough to not have lots of extra stuff on the lense. I'm interested, but not quite to the point of needing it yet. Tiijicon HD, and Truglo TFX Pro sights are my choice now. Maybe some day the dot will get me, but not quite yet. Like anything training will be the key. Good luck, and p,ease keep us updated
  6. I have mine set up so they are angled down about 20deg. This helps direct the splatter to the ground. I don't shoot close than 10 yds. ALWAYS wear glasses. I also limit my shooting to cast or plated bullets rather than jacketed. The jackets are more likely to come back at you.
  7. I live within the 2'30" line, not quite max, but it will certainly be cool. My dad always wanted to see a total solar eclipse. I'll be thinking of him for sure. Hoping for good weather!
  8. You should see the reaction of the post office to several 3lb packages of bees showing up!!! They want you there pronto...
  9. I may have to consider one of those for my Canik TP9SF Elite... Hard to tell from the photos how does it switch on? are the wings that come back to the trigger guard buttons?
  10. Life is an adventure, Dyed hair can be changed, give them a chance and hopefully they learn where their comfort level is before they do anything permanent like a tattoo.
  11. None... objects can't be evil, only people. Even that addition of the magazines can't make them evil. Nice group photo though!
  12. It actually seems worse than that.... Get a box, or other container, a hive body is ideal but I've seen it done with a 5gal bucket. Shake the crap out of the branch making the bees fall into the container, hopefully you get the queen. Take them home and set up a hive body with foundation keep an eye on them. If you have the queen and she likes her new home she will set up housekeeping if not they will fly away again. If you don't get the queen they will all be dead in about 20 days.
  13. I use Bluetooth headsets a lot. I drive 50kmi per year for business and my truck is my office and warehouse. I've tried many many Bluetooth headsets for phone calls and plantronics wins in the small catagory. In the large I don't have to carry it around catagory vxi takes the prize by a long shot. I use a bt350, and bt350 daily. I just saw that they have a serious headset now. The s450. You might want to give it a look.not main stream, but these guys cater to truckers and the stuff is well built with awesome battery life. Pick it up at a truck stop, Pilot etc. http://www.vxicorp.com/on-the-road-headsets/blueparrott-s450-xt All of that said, the biggest issue may be that Bluetooth simply doesn't have the bandwidth for hi fidelity. It will never compete with a wired decice.
  14. Ooooh a VP70Z.....
  15. Nice size swarm. The queen will leave the hive if it's over crowded and conditions are right. Swarms are usually very docile, and if you can get the queen they will all stay with her. You don't see them as much as I the past because beekeepers have gotten a great network out there to catch them. Many also use swarm traps to attract them. Free bees to a beekeeper. Call one if you can and they will likely reward you with some honey!
  16. Sea containers like this have vents built into the corners. This is to help prevent condensation as well as let them sink when they wash overboard, many also have wood floors. Burying one shouldn't be too bad if consideration is taken for these items. I'm thinking of making one into a root cellar Roof strength isn't bad, but if burying it deep some timber's across the top would help for sure. The floors are remarkably strong, most will have a placard showing load limit in lb per sq/ft. I wouldn't pack one solid with ammo, but if packaged in a way that a human can move I wouldn't think it's a problem for floor strength.
  17. Nothing mind blowing innovation wise. I got to handle a lot of stuff you just can't always see in stores. My time at the show was limited, and disorganized because of others I was with. If I can make it next year, I'll be more prepared and less distracted for sure. Others may have better info for you.
  18. 5 gallon buckets... Does that make me a horder?
  19. Guns? No rack....they take up to much space that I want to fill with guns. Right side up. Otherwise 100% natural, no fillers, additives or preservatives.
  20. That's disappointing to hear. I had very good communication with my order. But it was some time ago.
  21. Go. Pretty register, get there early tell them you're a new shooter. They will gave a new shooter briefing. Minimum equipment is: holster with covered trigger, mag pouch or pockets for mags, 3 mags, ammo, and a cover garment (light jacket, unturned shirt, etc). Howler advice of go slow and watch & listen is perfect. Good luck!
  22. Talking to the wife today I floated the idea of a home range for my steel and she thinks it's great idea. Now to find a good source for about 25-30yds of bank run fill, and some time with the tractor!
  23. One sure way to make sure that the guns get a thorough clean and lube... I like the grip texture on the P320 as a carry gun. I have not shot it in slippery conditions and it is remarkable how slippery things can get with just water let alone mud etc. I used to run IPSC & IDPA matches rain or shine. Lots of fun and educational too. I haven't shot enough in the last few months work and other obligations got in the way. That's changing now as the wife is getting her ccw and is pushing me to practice with her.
  24. I have an Aerostitch suit for riding it's the best combo I've found for that, goretex, armor etc. But when setting up camp splitting wood etc. I get soaked from the inside out. The goretex can't handle the heat load. I carry a frog togg jacket and pants for work and play it just works better. Wicking undershirt maybe a light fleece if it's cool underneath. Dry and warm with low activity is very different from dry and warm when working. My dad swore by a simple wool jacket treated with lanolin. Waxed canvas jacket for heavy rain.
  25. Look at what motorcyclists use. Driving 70mph in the rain will test the waterproofness. There are several things to consider here... Rainwear is waterproof in both directions. If you are working hard you will be wet from sweat. Goretex can't handle the volume caused by working hard. Good wicking base layers help a ton. Durability, does it need to be tough enough to crawl around on the ground in? If durability isn't the highest priority look at frog toggs or similar. Light remarkably waterproof easy to pack.
