  1. Problem I have is my mind still "thinks" it is still attached to a 30 y/o body, and my body does the ROFL thing pretty much daily.  Just walking the dog can bring about a new pain at times.   :dropjaw:
  2.   Don't ya just love nosy neighbors.  LOL
  3. I would be interested in learning about yote hunting as well.  Would be another newb, I know how to ask lots of questions.  LOL
  4. I'm 60 now, and have never liked heavy recoil, rifle or handgun, causes me to flinch after just a few rounds.  I avoid shotguns as well.  I shoot +P in my 357 when I do shoot it, and 223 is enough for me, maybe 243.  Getting older is not for sissies.  LOL
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, and what does the brown paper bag do?  is the rougher surface of the paper bag the "sandpaper" so to speak in this example??
  6. Searched and didn't find anything relating to matt black finishes.  Have a 25 y/o Luppy Vari x3, and the related scope rings both in matt black.  Noticed a small spot of surface rust on the top half of the mounting ring, what is a good way to remove the surface rust on the mounting ring, none on the scope.  TIA
  7. Welcome to TN, Cleveland is a sea of orange as I lived there for a few years.  Blue   t shirts are good for cleaning guns and cars, changing the oil in the lawnmower, etc.
  8. I call 'em the rust years, not golden yrs.
  9. I've used one of the larger one's on a 20# tank in the shed at times when working on the boat, about the time I got done "piddling" with the boat, it got warm in the shed.  LOL
  10. Thanks for the additional info guys.
  11. Not much reaction time when your bike's front tire is 10' or less behind the rear wheel/bike in front of you.  I refused to ride side x side even with people I rode with on a regular basis.  Side x side in tight formation with people I don't know, no thanks.  I agree on the helmet, you decide.  I used to argue and fuss about seat belts but have gotten use to them, and use them now.  Still don't like 'em, but I use 'em.
  12.   I read the application/membership stuff on their website, and I got the impression they "preferred" or wanted you to belong to one of the named organizations, and you needed a sponsor.  Wasn't real clear on the 1st year probation statement tho.  I understand the "safety" issue, but seems like the club would sponsor that, or have one of their own safety courses that would be beneficial for all members, whether new to the shooting world, or just getting back into it (like me), or someone just wants a refresher course because it's been a long time since the last one.
  13.   Wasn't aware of this, but I don't know.  Personally, I think there is a higher risk of dumping the bike in slow formation/parade riding than any other time, but that's just me. Not much "reaction time" room in parades.
  14. Is it a "requirement" you belong to one of the nationally recognized shooting org's to join at ORSA ?
  15. #10 is interesting, I used to ride, and lived in FL, where no helmet is the norm.  I realize it's a personal choice where allowed by law, but those exceptions will lead to every saturday morning ride be a "benefit or memorial" ride for something or someone.
  16. Funny, but TMI
  17.   I saw and briefly handled a Rossi at the same time/store, appearance did nothing for me, seemed on the ugly side IMO, both were hanging on the same wall stacked so an easy comparison.  The SS fluted barrel on the CVA caught my eye as well.     Having inter-changeable barrels is nice but not a necessity.  Have not looked at the Savage but lots of comments about being very accurate guns which is something I want.
  18. Searched but no results.   anyone have any 1st hand experience with the CVA Scout rifles?  I've read most of the owner reviews at the retailer sites, and most seem favorable with the occasional "I got a bad gun" comments , and some other forum comments where available. Most comments seem favorable as well.   Looking at something somewhat inexpensive, light and compact for groundhog fun if I can line up some land owners to let me hunt 'em on their property.  I've never shot a 5.5 -6.5# scout rifle, mostly heavier varmit rigs so I'm looking at the .223 or maybe the .243.  I found one in a store and liked how it felt, seem to handle well and could shoulder it very easy and quickly, the camo stock did not do much for me but the pictures of the black and SS I've seen online look pretty good imo.
  19. Believe it's a first for me this morning with thunder and lightning on christmas morning.  Sure, lots of rainy christmas days in my past, but don't remember thunder and lightning in my 60 yrs.     Merry Christmas to all, and shoot straight.  LOL
  20. Not one of the smarter things I've seen done.
  21. Sounds more like sloppy management to me, doesn't take much to read the rules to operate a particular type of business, but implementing the procedures to follow the rules/laws/guidelines is very time consuming, as well as proving what you're doing is in compliance with the laws/rules/guidelines.
  22. Definitely on a roll here.
  23. Not to jack this thread, but where are some good sources for mags?  I've got a MK II 22 and need/want another mag or two.
  24. If the bike is a "highly desirable collectors item" then it seems like it would make sense to return it to the original color.  Based on the other comments above, I would see if the original paint is still there, and in good shape, and go from there.  One comment indicates rattle can paint can be removed w/o damage.  Original everything really helps on the collectors value.   If you want the bike because it has good memories and not necessarily for the collectors value, paint the color you want.
  25. nice work.
