Leupold vs Bausch & Lomb vs Simmons
jpx2rk replied to 19_A_CPT's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I can't recommend a Simmons for anything but a beginners 22RF so when it gets dropped or kicked, no loss. I would go with the Leupold, I've got a couple of those, good clear scope for the $$. Being out in CO and your scope goes wonky would be bad. Never had a B&L but have read positive comments on that brand. Another one to throw in for consideration would be a Vortex Diamondback, clear glass as well, same price range IIRC as the Leupold, but you should look through all of 'em, and go from there. I have a Diamondback, glass is clear but I don't care for the huge rear eyepiece (IMO). -
I went to the one in Chattanooga a couple months ago, prices are competitive (?) on reloading components IMO, might find some good deals but the selection was good compared to other places. Even had some 8# jugs if that was on the shopping list. Wondered briefly thru the fishing gear, good selection, also had lots of various hunting equipment such as deer stands, clothes, etc., saw some bows as well. Can't say anything on prices on all the other stuff as I don't keep up with that.

Do they roll up in a ball like the rollee-pollee's do when you poke 'em?

What Caliber for Skunk and Where To Hit It?
jpx2rk replied to ShaggyRS6's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I had not thought of how a road kill skunk can smell up a road, and you KNOW when it's a recent casualty. Years ago, I was driving my MIL's car at night and nailed a skunk (heard the thump) but hoped it had not released. Pulled into her garage, and immediately smelled it, and she started yelling "back the car outside, back the car outside". Funny, but man did it smell bad. Took about a week and driving the car in a rainstorm to get rid of the smell. -
What Caliber for Skunk and Where To Hit It?
jpx2rk replied to ShaggyRS6's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Skunks have their own odor, and I've smelled them after they have just wandered thru my back yard. Just shoot 'em and leave 'em be for a hour. Or leave 'em for other scavengers. -
You may not be able to discharge a firearm in the city limits by law, BUT may be allowed/able to out in the county. My back property line is edge of city limits, but unfortunately, there are houses in view behind me as well. Call the local LEO's and see what they say as well.

A bit flashy IMO, but works with the red shirt. I bet most people at wally world give you a wide berth walking down the meat cooler isle don't they?

I've seen numerous pics posted on various forums with the PB watermark lately, they must have gotten the message about their decision to not allow pics to be posted on forums. I don;t use 'em anymore, but I don't post many pics either.

Damascus knife headed to a new home....
jpx2rk replied to Grand Torino's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Very nice work. -
I filed one in early July, like 7/8/18, and got the call on July 1, 2019 the stamp had come in. This was back when Silencerco had the BOGO last year. The freebie just showed up LATE JUNE 2019 from Silenerco, so now the waiting period started early July 2019 for the freebie. Horrible planning by the company IMO. update on my BOGO silencer, it only took less than 90 days for my stamp to come in for the BOGO silencer. Yes, less than 90 days, so WTF ????

I tried one of those extended (36") watering wands from walmart that has the adjustable spray head, worked ok but if you have lots of stuff in the gutters, not so much. I had some scrap/left over pvc pipe and made a 48" wand that will attach to a garden hose, a flow control /on/off valve, has a 90* bend near the top and a short extension with a fitting that one of those "power washer nozzles" will screw onto. This nozzle is brass and non adjustable, aka a boring nozzle IIRC. It will push lots and lots of crap down the gutters to the downspout, even the granules knocked off the shingles and those acorns as well. Reduce the times you have to move the ladder and climb up/down alot.

I gotz a pellet rifle you can borrow to pop it a time or 2, might leave your stuff alone then.

The owners manual should tell you how to get the mower to move w/o the engine running. It sounds like there is a possibility of low/no oil since you stated there was oil on the ground. That oil could either be engine oil from the motor or from the hydro pumps. Were there any leaks on the floor where the mower was stored??? Might just be a blown hydro hose to the pumps which could be controlled by a fluid level sensor.

I remember watching a lot of the launches/returns on TV whenever I could, but I was 14 back when they landed on the moon, so I had other things on my mind as well. I watched or recorded the anniversary shows to watch later. Going back to the moon would be a cool thing, but the expense would be very high, and not sure if country could really afford to do it. There would be so much bickering about it, it would diminish the accomplishment(s).

Seems like the moose knew a good thing when he/it saw it. LOL

A lot of people have had to go thru what you are facing. IMO, I would buy a new laptop as the new ones already have Windows 10 loaded on them, so you should have "fewer" issues than going thru the upgrade from 7 to 10. I went thru the upgrade (forced is a good word to use) due to other software I use, so. Ended up being a big PITA. I got tired of the issues, so just went and bought a new one with 10 on it. No issues after that. You could just get a "Chrome" laptop for internet if that is all you do with a laptop. Other software is available but the Chrome computers have very little storage on the laptop itself, so you usually have to end up using the "cloud" which is another whole adventure in itself IMO. I have an Acer Chrome laptop (10-12" screen) that I use at times, works fine no issues but I do not store any personal info on it at all. My other laptop is a HP 14" screen with 10, Outlook, (email/calander/notes/tasks) that I use the majority of the time as I do keep Outlook open 24/7 to keep me headed where I need to be at times. LOL

I've even seen some F150's in use by TN Troopers, mostly the weight watchers, but's kinda cool to see a PU looking like a bumblebee. LOL

Rural King had the Ruger AR for ~$500 a week or so ago. I keep thinking I "need" or "want" one, but just can't seem to make the effort to actually buy one. LOL.

Would love to go to the CWS just to experience it, even more if UT would be there. LOL
-
Well, I guess pigs can fly now. The world is ending, the world is ending. LOL
-
Good to see 'em win the big one. Now if UT could get past the 1st rd in ANY NCAA tourney, it would be a break through.

Been on the local news, it's sad in many ways. Prayers for the family.

I'm in favor of it. I spent an entire chapter or two of my life on the phone (work related at the office) and now I pretty much despise a phone. I have a cell phone to keep the peace at the house (happy wife, happy life thing) so she can call or text me when I'm not home or not home when she expects me to be home. I usually leave it in the truck so I don't lose the phone. My phone is "paired up" with my truck, and may/may not pair it with her car. She needs to pair her phone with her car in case of an emergency tho. Maybe this law will reduce the number of left lane larry's and lisa's who won't move over because they are on their phone.

At least they are the right color.
