Garmin Smart Watches (Fenix / Instinct)
pitt2magic replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Been using a Garmin watch exclusively for about 7 years, currently use the Fenix 6x. Cant compare them to the Apple lineup because the only Apple Watch I've ever used is the original long ago. I personally dont want to talk or text from my phone, I can see enough of the text on the Garmin to know if I need to stop what Im doing and grab my phone. All personal preference. I chose Garmin because I'm a triathlete and ultra runner so I love the long battery life and I'm a data geek when it comes to all the workout data I can get from the Garmin. -
Another reason to go CAT is that a larger percentage of people know how to use them. I'm a SWAT medic and while our guys are free to set their kits up however they want for the most part I want their blow out kits pretty much universal. One guy kept putting his old RATS in his. Finally convinced him that he wants every guy on the team to know how to save him quickly and not have to figure out some different device.

Dave Shooting Supply in Red Bank is small but Dave is a good guy. Gun Works in Cleveland, small place but they pack a lot of stuff in there and have always been helpful. GT Distributors is a pretty large store with a lot of stuff.

I used to ride a lot but like most, life gets in the way. My bikes have sat way too much the last couple of years but I'm always optimistic that this year will be the year.....

February 1 was one year since purchase on my last can. Check cashed 3/15.

Chattanooga CLEO for 5320.23?
pitt2magic replied to rchrds's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I live in Hamilton county, not in the city of Chattanooga so it may be different but all of my stuff goes to the sheriff. -
I drive a Tundra Crewwmax, we also have a Sequoia, daughter drives Rav 4, older son a Tacoma, younger son a FJ Cruiser. Cant beat the reliability.

That's a pretty good set up for the layman to have. No need having a bunch of stuff you don't how to use. Depending on what your/your wife's medical history is might add a small medicine pouch. Baby aspirin for chest pain, benadryl for mild allergic reactions. Maybe a Sawyer extractor for snake bites or insect stings. Bottle or spray can of wound wash. I'm an RN/medic so I carry way too much stuff in my truck but you have a great kit.

Legal question? Derek Chauvin: 3 convictions?
pitt2magic replied to Grayfox54's topic in General Chat
So does he only get sentenced on the biggest charge? 2nd degree murder? -
When i moved here 13 years ago I thought we were in the middle of nowhere. Now it's max density cookie cutter neighborhoods everywhere. Luckily I live on top of White Oak Mtn so I have a buffer.

Two wells on my property. One is over 500' deep and the other is over 300' deep, no hand pump option for that.

Been on a well for 13 years. We love our water. We have a Kinetico system that has worked well. Yes it takes more personal effort than having city water but its pretty much on autopilot. I havent read all of the comments but one thing to consider is that when the power is out so is your water. That has been our biggest issue over the years. living in tornado ally. We put in a Generac whole house generator last year so that problem is solved but definitely something to consider.

And yet another +1 for GT. Been a customer for almost 20 years. Was in yesterday and they had both G19MOS and G45MOS in stock for blue label, didn't ask about other models. Had them order me a G19 in December and it took a couple weeks.

Another vote for Drug Task Force, our guys purposely do not look like your typical officer.

Happiness is a choice. What's keeping you happy these days?
pitt2magic replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I'm thankful for the family reboot that is happening. My 21 y/o daughter is home from college. My 14&16 y/o son's lives were so busy with school and sports but now we are all at home spending time together, time that I never thought would happen again. Yes the current world situation sucks but hearing my 3 almost grown kids laughing and having fun together is pretty nice. -
It wouldn’t be the nurse’s employer. The fear is that the state or federal government would make the threat.
-
I'm a registered nurse but not currently working in a clinical setting but always keep my license active. I've considered going to my old hospital and at least being put on some sort of list to call back if needed but as previously stated, the hospitals are half full and staff being sent home because of nothing for them to do. I read these articles about the governors of NY and NJ wanting the government to "draft" medical professionals and force them to come up there to help. Well that is some . If the time and need arises I'll throw my scrubs back on and help out my community but they can have my license before I head to NY regardless of what the pay is.

A beautiful tribute. Lost my dad 10 years ago when he was 61. Thanks for sharing.

I still refer back from time to time.

Does Tennessee need a Soccer team and new stadium??
pitt2magic replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
Atlanta has a MLS team and share Mercedes Benz Stadium with the Falcons. Can't see a need for both, certainly not with the tax payer subsidies that they will be wanting to build it with. You guys have to save up for that new MLB team you'll probably be getting. -
I have been wanting an REI in Chattanooga forever, then just a few weeks before we get one they pull this mess. I like shopping in their stores when I travel but F'em, plenty of other places to get what I need.
