So my UPS driver that stops almost daily at my shop just asked if I was going to be closed next Monday. Not really thinking about it I said yeah if that's Labor Day. He said no, Monday the 21st is the day of the eclipse and some local businesses were closing at noon. Yeah, this thing is reached the point of ridiculous.

I'm not even going to post what I did even though they were not horrendous scores. You just can't win much at a World Championship by shooting your average even if it does have a 9 on the front of it. But like last year my son out shot me again and did manage to win a shoot off to be the yardage champion in the Kreighoff 100 preliminary handicap event. There are people that have been shooting at the Grand American for 40 years and have yet to win a trophy.

Yeah, just like the get paid for predicting snow, I don't think so. But then on second thought they actually do for all those snow and weather related closing reports that are sponsored by XYZ company of widgets Inc. I do believe they usually lean toward forecasting the worse case scenario and hope for the best. I did post something in one of the eclipse threads going here from the southeast regional Farmers' Almanac that said eclipse viewing would be iffy with high chance of overcast and rain. I've been checking a couple of different weather providers for the Nashville area and several have changed from clear to chance of rain every two days or so. The one below is from Inellicast and they are back on with cloudy and chance of rain.

I see appearance changes. Not bad changes. I did like the wood grain going down the sides before, even if that takes some back to their childhood homes.

That's some good shootin'. I think you pick up some Grand American hardware aka trophies. Let's see those.

Found this on Blue Book of gun values. F.I.C. sold less than 100 Pony .380 ACPs, which were marked Colt before the Mustang was introduced - these are rare. While some models are relatively rare, collectability to date has been minimal and most models sell in the $150-$295 range, depending on overall desirability and condition. I've found 2 online and one has medallion in grip and the other does not. Does yours?

Some of my best memories ever are father daughter days at the range. Most blingged out set of ear muffs I ever saw!

Nice "Caddy", about a 55 model I do believe.

Who here remembers or even went to "The Wind in the Willows". If you never saw Hubert Davis and the Season Travelers you missed a good one.

Sort of related, Sea Princess Cruise Ship Goes Into 'Ghost Mode' To Avoid Pirates Shreesha Ghosh,International Business Times 17 hours ago Reactions Like Reblog on Tumblr Share Tweet Email A luxury cruise ship on a 104-day world tour and carrying 1,900 passengers was forced into a 10-day blackout mode on the first leg of its journey from Sydney to Dubai as the crew feared an attack by Somali pirates, reports said Wednesday. The Sea Princess went on a dusk-till-dawn shutdown for 10 days, during which the lights on the ship were also dimmed to avoid unnecessary attention. The blackout took place while the ship traversed the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Suez Canal. Trending: Man Sues American Airlines After 14-Hour Flight Next To Obese Passengers Carolyne Jasinski, a passenger on the ship, wrote on news.co.au that the captain of the ship announced there was a "real" threat of a pirate attack. "No deck parties, no movies under the stars, no late-night outdoor bar hopping or pool dipping," Jasinski wrote, providing the list of things that were shut down because of the potential threat. "No lights, no party atmosphere, no lapping up tropical breezes on their balconies. All around the ship, as the sun set, all curtains were drawn and all shutters closed. Bright lights, which normally signal the presence of the Sea Princess on the ocean, were dimmed or turned off altogether," she wrote. "She was a ghost ship," she added. Jasinski also mentioned that the captain informed the passengers there would be a "compulsory pirate drill." In March, pirates hijacked an oil tanker off the coast of Somalia, which was said to be the first successful hijacking of a commercial ship by them since 2012. Read Also: British Jogger Shoves Woman In Front Of Oncoming Bus The United Nations has had several meetings throughout the years over the issue, specifically in 2008 when concerns were heightened due to persistent and high-profile acts of piracy off the coast of Somalia. According to records maintained by International Maritime Organization (IMO) since 1984, there were more than 440 reported acts of piracy off the Somalian coast till 2008. "Of these, 120 took place in 2008 alone," IMO Secretary General Efthimios Mitropoulos told the U.N. in November 2008. However, anti-piracy organization Oceans Beyond Piracy claimed incidents of piracy in the west Indian Ocean came down in the last few years due to counter-measures and increased presence of naval vessels in the waters. "The economic cost of piracy was around $7 billion in 2010, decreasing to $1.3 billion in 2015," according to the organization, CNBC reported in March. Princess Cruises, the cruise line that owns Sea Princess, told the New York Daily News the measures they took on the ship were simply done "out of an abundance of caution." "In addition to our normal ongoing security training, additional piracy specific training is conducted prior to any of our vessels entering areas of concern," the company said. "Any measures aboard Sea Princess were simply taken out of an abundance of caution and not in response to a specific threat and are common to international shipping sailing in the region." There are ways to protect a ship in case of a pirate attack, and certain security measures can be followed in order to prevent the attacks from escalating. Armed guards on ships traveling through Somali waters have become a standard on British ships since 2013. Generally, a large ship has four guards, usually experienced and former Royal Marines who possess the skills and the ability to resist the threat, according to the Telegraph. British arms firm BAE Systems developed an anti-pirate laser in 2011 to dazzle pirates in case of an attack. The laser was said to be effective up to a mile, and didn't cause permanent harm to the eyesight. Water canons and sound guns are also fitted into ships in order to ward off incoming pirates or their boats. Other measures include boat traps, razor wires and electric fences in order to prevent pirates from getting aboard; slippery anti-traction foam can also be used to prevent pirates from climbing up the vessel.

Welcome to TGO and I hope your problem gets resolved. If it were mine I would ship back to TC. Wow, the name Gary Reeder took me back in time. I can remember back in the late 70's and early 80's when he was a regular at one of my local gun shops. He was a Tennessee resident back then before he moved to Arizona. I see he's still churning out Custom guns. I recall he had one of his early custom pistols for sale at the local gun shop listed as the Gary Reeder BMF. I'm sure you can guess what BMF stood for. Even though he doesn't use the BMF term now I see he's making even bigger custom BMF pistols in all of his custom wildcat cartridges.

Just to let you know I'm here to help a brother out. So pack up evrything that survived the boating accident and I will pick up ASAP. You need not to give the Feds any cause to tack on additional charges when you get that zero dark thirty wake up call. I will be sure and keep them exercised, maintained, safe and secure in the unfortunate event it turns into an extended stay.

Seeing stuff like this in the mail pile never gets old. As promised, it's Bad Ass! Thanks Willis!

During the total eclipse of March 1970 our family was living in South Carolina as my father was stationed at Shaw AFB at the time. I was quite young but I still remember the hype of the total solar eclipse back then. The total eclipse path ran up through the panhandle of Florida up to the south east corner of Virginia and we were in a prime location and best of all it occurred on a Saturday. I remember a large gathering of people near one of the base recreation areas. Even though I was quite young I still remember thinking how anticlimactic the whole thing was. It gradually got dark and then bright again. Just like when a really dark storm system moves through without the rain.

It was my 13th birthday present and still have it. Gleenfield model 60, they were made by Marlin I do believe as they were a copy of the Marlin Model 60. Fairly certain it was purchased from the Western Auto in Del Rio Texas. I remember chasing some big ol' Texas jack rabbits with it. Good old days.

Do you base all your firearm purchases on a need basis? If you want something and have the financial abilty to acquire it, then do it. If the new whatever turns out not being what you really thought it was going to be, turn it into something else.
