Coldest I've ever been was a white water kayaking trip to the Tellico River about 20 years ago. The bank clock in Tellico Plains said 9*, and that was down in the valley, it was colder up on the mountain. Weather station said with wind chill it put it at -1*. Water in the rapids would splash on to our dry suits and freeze. Every time you moved your arms the ice would crunch. Those of us with beards had icicles hanging from them.

Still makes me cold just thinking about it.

You my friend are (and I mean this in the nicest terms) nuts.

I've done some things that I look back on now (being much older and just a little wiser) and say, "I must have be nuts when I did that"!

So fess up analog_kidd,  can you honestly say at any point on the way to this venture did you ask yourself, is this really going to be fun?

  2. I did quite a bit of windshield time Saturday in the rural areas where I live.  I saw deer everywhere and some in places I've never seen them before from early morn until late that Saturday night.  Since the cold front has passed and traveling in the same area I've not seen a single deer for three days.

  3. Anytime the subject revealing what’s on my list of wants or desires or someon else’s wish list, the lyrics to a Rolling Stones song starts blaring in my head.  I’ve probably blown way more than 1 or 2  50 amp fuses trying to justify or convince myself why I should acquire widget X that I want over Y or Z that I need.

You know you’ve heard it and maybe thought, yeah that’s so true.

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
    You get what you need

You get what you need--yeah, oh baby

So after all that and like last year and a few before I’m looking for a deal on a 50 BMG that I have absolutely no real use for other than I want one or a Perazzi MX 2000 combo that will see some regular range time.

I didn't know that they had women snipers in WW-2 but here are a few, all Russian, did other armies have women snipers in WW-2.

The first one is two Soviet snipers from the Red Army's 25th Rifle Division. The one on the left is Ludmila Pavlichenko a Ukrainian Soviet sniper. Credited with 309 kills, she is regarded as the most successful female sniper in history.

Second is two more Russian snipers.

Third is In early 1941, Lyudmila Pavlichenko again

Forth is Nina Lobkovskaya, Red Army Sniper

Have a Happy New Year All You All

In early 1941, Lyudmila Pavlichenko was the worlds deadliest female sniper.jpg

Always enjoy the Lyudmila stories and here is more from page 2 of this thread

  5. My first BB gun was a Daisy 1894 Spittin’ Image (saddle ring version). One of my most memorable birthdays and I remeber it like it was yesterday even though it was 46 Year’s ago. Gun still works and even have the original box,  The box is a little rough but I’m just slightly amazed I still have it.

  6. Daisy is still a big thing today.  Even though they were bought by Gamo last year the new owner has committed to keep up the national match program tradition.  I've had the privilege to attend 5 Daisy National Championship Matches and was a team coach at 4 of them and made the award stage once.  They spend a large chunk of money to put this match on every year and a large portion of the expenses for teams an individual is covered by Daisy.

Check it out: Daisy National Championship BB Gun Matches
