  1. Placed my first order for seeds yesterday for my 2021 garden. 30 days to receive.... Wowzers.
  2. There is no illegal activity. What they're doing is very smart. They are finding companies with extreme short floats and bidding them up, forcing shorts to cover, driving the price up, which forces more shorts to cover, which.... Whats fascinating to me is, GME is still just as short as it was when this started! Talk about greedy... I think they deserve whatever they are getting! Nobody forced them to borrow shares they didn't own. Stick to covered calls if you can't take the heat.
  3. So, admittedly I'm a perma-bear... but I'm wondering if others here are bullish? If you were looking to short, would you go with an inverse ETF, or long bonds? I'm hearing chatter even bonds aren't safe. Don't say Gamestop... shouldda bought calls Monday, who knew!
  4. When I first started reloading our rental house was a bit small. I mounted my press and powder unit to a board, and routed some slots to hold my scale and ammo boxes. When it was time to load I clamped that board to the kitchen table or coffee table, and took it down when done (or the wife started bitching). Now that board is (semi) permanently to the workbench in my shed. Not perfect, but it got me loading earlier.
  5. Best of luck to you. In the hunt myself!
  6. Thats the second reference to Mandibles I've seen in a minute.. guess its time to check that one out.
  7. Short the USD. I think it will be a wild ride. Looking to commodities and metals, no coin. A great investment I've had repeatedly over the years are pipeline companies. Great dividend, and more stable than drillers and refiners. I have found it a good place to park money for a while when I don't have a specific investing goal. Currently in MMP.
  8. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't on my mind 5 years ago when I moved down here..... if you study history, you saw this coming. Those that don't think it will turn hot, are in for a surprise, IMHO. Human nature hasn't changed, thats why we always repeat the same mistakes. Why history has regular cycles.
  9. Actually...... .... the drug companies demanded the fedgov indemnify them from all lawsuits related to the vaccine (due to rushing the approval process, which normally takes years). It could simply be a smart lawyer, or something else. Regardless, its one reason this body won't be getting the jab any time soon. If the manufacturer is demanding a free pass, there must be a good reason. I prefer to let other people stride into the unknown. Talk to me in a few years when there is more data.
  10. Yes, true, there were a few "current events" that made the topic bubble back to the surface.. I've wondered about everything going dark (aka marshall law, emp, etc.) and with that assumption I have concluded gasoline will be highly valuable, so simply running across town, if thats even possible (nevermind practical), could prove challenging. When I was a kid my friend had some walkie-talkies we used, were maybe 1.5 mile apart... but after bed time Mom wouldn't let us use the phone! LOL! That memory, and the ability to 'listen' to a lot is why I got the handheld baeofengs. Worst case me and mine are good for a couple miles and I'm only out 50 bucks. But my Sister is in Northern Va.? And what if things don't get totally blown away, but folks that circulate on places like TGO find communication difficulties. I mean, how is @Grand Torino gonna sell any knives if we can't buy them here? And without trying to be political.... what if the situation becomes something else? What if I/me/mine experience persecution because of our support of the 2nd, or lack of masks, or... you can imagine many possible scenarios comms may need to go underground. I'm curious what preparations others have been making. I attended a get together this weekend covering such examples, and what this group would be willing and able to do. Most folks in the group hadn't even thought about it.
  11. So with all thats going on in the world I got to thinking about alternative communications. What are folks here doing in the event phone and internet communications become unstable, unreliable, or all together non-existent? Read some interesting stuff online about IRC chat and direct dial BBS sites. Gawd, when was the last time... But with the current control and censorship issues, what would you do if it all went *poof* and your txt messages never got replied to. How would you communicate locally in your neighborhood? In town? Relatives nearby or across the state/country? We've become so used to the ubiquity of it all.... I know some folks are setup with HAM, I have a set of Baeofangs I'm trying to figure out... but outside a couple miles... what have some folks prepared for?
  12. As a father to3, one a teenage girl, I find the hair on my neck starts to stand up when I see some of this Pedo stuff... that being said, I don't get that vibe here. Kids are stupid and we all know the lengths they will go to feel special, popular, accepted, etc. The number of followers you have is like notches on your bed post, its how kids rank each other. It doesn't matter that you don't actually KNOW any of these people, or if they are real, or even exist! They just want to quote a number that is high enough. So.... Vista Print sends you 1k biz cards for 25 bucks, or you whip them off on your home computer, and litter the 'popular' stores with them. If that person has questionable subject matter on their site, I think thats unrelated to this attempt at garnering followers... they may try to use sexuality to attract followers, but the note-in-the-pocket thing seems innocent by itself. Heck, I still have free pens from that damned check cashing place. Marketing takes many forms.
  13. Can't say its an heirloom, but I love my Estwing. Light enough I can swing it like a hatchet.
  14. Yeah, I was dumbstruck at first. Almost walked out, thats when the Mgr. came over. I reminded them that we were in Tennessee, where there aren't such requirements! Sadly, it was comply, or don't buy. Shrug. As with the current situation, I'm a big fan of voting with my pocket book. I dropped ORSA about 2 years ago when we finished building. Great club, but I just wasn't using it, and wanted to start building my own range at home anyways. .... still only about 75 yards, but hey, I don't have any spare ammo right now anyways!
  15. I went to ShootPB once when they just opened and were advertising a 'huge ammo sale' (ya know, back in the day when you could get it? ).... had to present and allow them to scan my license. I inquired, as I understand an age-check but objected to them scanning, and the manager told me some nonsense about CA documentation requirements? Last time I shopped there. Have had good experiences at Frontier Firearms... partly b/c it was on my way to the range! LOL!!
  16. Welcome Wolf! Checkout the Sportsmens Club on Oak Ridge Highway if you need a place to shoot. Great facility.

Thanks for sharing @peejman ! I agree with you about our childrens safety, for the record... Once threw a shovel at, and started chasing the neighbor kid's car down the road, 'cuz the little SOB though it was a good idea to come around my corner at 40 mph every afternoon.... stopped doing it after that incident, but I'd digress. But at the risk of poking the bear, the instant you feel your rights supercede mine, is where I begin to have an issue, even though we agree on the conclusion. Strange, isn't it? To me, its similar to the attitude and way of thinking I wanted to get away from when I decided to relocate my family. I once had the school district superintendent (top dawg, whole county, 150k+ students) stand up in front of the entire school and TELL ME, my town was too white. So they were going to bus some city kids into my children's schools. He knew better than me how to raise my kids. Actually said so. I'd just have to trust him. I was the ignoramus for not being in agreement with his idea. I've been told by very well meaning people that are utterly convinced in their hearts that they know better, how I should drive my car, what TV I should watch, how to store my medicine AND firearms in my own home, and what kinds I should even be allowed to own (YOU don't NEED a 30 rd magazine...) All perfectly legal, all perfectly rationalized, supported by the PTA, local church, pushed for and propagandized by the local news. You're a whack-job if you don't agree. Won't somebody think of the children?!?! If it just saves one life.... Oops, there, I went and did it. Look, this is just an exercise in thinking things through. I don't mean to give the impression I'm this big of an A-hole... I'm deliberately playing devils advocate (for a reason). Personally I'm all for the greater good, community, etc. Didn't move to an off-grid cabin halfway up a mountain side for a reason... We give up certain freedoms in order to have this thing called civilization. I like the fact I can safely drive 15 min to a DG/o get a quart of milk. I can assume my neighbor doesn't have booby traps set throughout his property. That comes at a price, no? Even though I live on 15 acres out in the sticks, I can't start shooting off tannerite bombs in the middle of the night. Why? Because my rights don't supercede those of my neighbors, even if they are 1/2 mile away. The INSTANT you assume your way of thinking is superior to someone elses, you create a problem. Your experience with your former neighbor illustrates precisely my point: There would be no reconcilliation between you two, you both believe you are correct. Glad you feel self righteous. You should move North! You'd fit right in...

Treat them exactly like you would any other neighbor. We're all pink on the inside! Who/how your neighbors are depends on who/how your neighbors are, even if they hail from North of the Mason Dixon. I've met plenty of jerks from both sides of that line. Lots decent folks, too. I moved my family down here to get them away from what I felt were bad influences (see, I DO care about my kids! LOL!) The simple tale of geriatric neighbors illustrates my point. I'd rather my kids know your neighbors than old Mr. Smith that I had. Crazy Joe was a friggin hoot though, every town needs a local crazy guy on a tricycle in women's dresses. Life just doesn't have the same spice!

LOL! Thanks for the compliment, no offense taken! Likewise, I too am trying to illustrate the potential unintended consequences. Glad we can have a civil discussion where we can agree to disagree!

Hmmmm. So, I'll play Devils advocate again (at the risk of making even more folks hate me, the thought exercise should prove evocative): You move into a new home and because a pre-existing condition doesn't comport with your sense of safety, you feel within your rights to remove someone elses property from their domiciled residence? Wow. I don't mean to be a ____, but you sound just like a gun-grabbbing Karen to me right there. Seriously, not saying this to roust emotions or cause trouble, I understand the desire to protect ones kin... got 3, but I never felt the right to impose myself on someone else. I might go over to their house to explain my position and ask if something can be done. Hey there neighbor, we just moved in and... what say we plant a couple bushes instead, I'll split the cost with you, buy a cold 6 pack, we'll do it together next Saturday? I installed a vinyl fence in my first home to keep my toddlers safe. I didn't make my neighbors change their yards because of my situation?!?!? Most people are reasonable when approached reasonably, and toddler safety is a pretty reasonable request IMO, especially when you're talking about one of those suburban neighborhoods with common property boundarys (my first home was)... But to think you're within your rights to alter my private property? Whoah there, we got us a problem here. You don't want your kid getting hurt in my yard? Keep 'em out of my yard. Why is your childs safety my problem? Do I need to put a lock on my medicine cabinet b/c your kids a meth head? Why not just deny my access to a medicine because others get high off it? I know, I should have to lock all of my guns up with trigger locks at all times and store the ammunition in a separate location because they might steal it and kill someone else with it! Welcome to New Yawk. LOL, guess that 'splains why I live in the middle of no where down a dead end street! In all seriousness, I _do_ understand the point @gregintenn tried making and fully understand @peejman doing anything and everything to protect his child(ren)... I'm really not this giant A-hole thinking up ways to hurt and maim wayward neighborhood children, honest... but to my way of thinking, that way of thinking, is exactly how gun control laws get passed. I don't mean to anger anyone or ruffle feathers, rather provoke them to stop and think. I find debates interesting and hope it can continue, even if I'm taking the unpopular side

Old man was tired of us kids hopping his fence to get to the field to play ball. Did you know you need a tetanus booster every ten years? Doctor told me that as I was getting one. Good times! Nobody got arrested or sued, and every parent in the neighborhood used me as the example to their child, why you respect peoples property boundary. 2 weeks hobbling around on crutches didn't take too long to find out what happened to the Mc________ boy, And nobody ever jumped that old mans fence again. If you knocked a ball into his yard you screwed up the courage to knock on his front door or kissed it goodbye. Thats the neighborhood I grew up in. YMMV.
