LMAO! Thats exactly what I told friends and family after I moved here: I found America again!

Welcome! And ditto what @xtriggerman said. Refugee from (Western) New Yawk as well.... its a wonderful part of the country here. Lotsa EastTN folks here, you'll find lots of good advice and thoughtful opinions (and a few jackholes, but I try not to comment too much ).

I recently "re-did" things as well. I found it very useful to sit down with a mortgage broker to discuss everything. She really helped explain some things and helped with the amortization. In the end we went with a modified mortgage from our existing lender, but having the expert advice working in my corner made me comfortable with the process.

A week isn't bad at all. USPS? Maybe thats why they quoted a month? -
Woodcrafters? They have a store in Knox, gotta be two out by you...

I believe now more than ever its important to support the local small guy establishments with your business. Do your research online, but buy local! I feel rather satisfied paying (marginally) more for a purchase made there than at a big box store. Same goes for eating out. Darden brands will be just fine... Joe's Pizza could use some new customers.

Thats a decent price. Free shipping, too! But it says 4-6 weeks to fill? -
You should be good, if you paid for the membership. My screen still says 50% complete too. Never bothered. If you're still having troubles, there is a support forum you can post in and the mods will get back pronto.

If you want an inch, ask for a foot.

Thanks Brat, you pretty much read my mind with those last few sentences. Supposed to be meeting up with a local group Thurs., and HAM was to be the topic of discussion.

The premium for physical over spot has just flown out the window... I'd wait for prices to settle down first. Maybe start with junk silver coins. Use APMEX myself, Maples and Eagles, but that generates a shipping record. You'll pay more per ounce, but cash at the local dealer is untraceable. I would not be selling my Silver any time soon. Exchanging real money for scrip isn't in my plans for it.

Anyone else taking a silver position this week? I got some SLV at 27.5 this morning.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/127/text?r=17&s=1 Federally mandated insurance, expensive, and managed by the FedGov (some $800 per year). Psychological evaluations by state-approved psychologists for approval to purchase firearms. Those evaluations are extended to family members (including former spouses). Prohibition of person-to-person transfers. Prohibition of standard capacity magazines. From the FPC.

Great topic! Hope we can continue the discussion apolitically? One of the greatest threats our nation faces right now is the bias in the media, and the stupidity of the average person. Its not just the "news" its the entire suite of programming... and thats exactly what its designed to do, IMHO. I have found it exceedingly difficult to find un-biased news. I currently spend time on as many places on the web I can find, and try to sift through it all to find the actual truth. Its not easy, but comes with practice. The old saw from Soviet days is particularly useful... if you're not allowed to talk about it, you know thats the truth. If they deny its very existence, its totally real. If they over-react and declare something anathema, its what they fear. Orwell and Huxley will be banned soon, but should be required reading to participate in this conversation. Make no bones about it, thats whats coming. God help us all.

For used anything, even in good condition, I start at 50% of current price/original cost. If its worn or abused, I go lower. If well cared for and maintained, I go higher. For something that has a finite lifetime (e.g. before worn and no longer useable), I also factor that into the price. Something like a reloading press I believe will remain functional indefinitely, so price goes up. Given its a friend you're buying from, I'd just tell them you want it, and will pay their asking price.

https://ncrenegade.com/editorial/whats-in-your-retirement-account/ Food for thought, I've said this for years. Consider this a litmus test. If your broker can liquidate your holdings without permission b/c its too risky (for them or the account holder, wasn't specified...), your 401k is toast my friends.

man, do I know that feeling. Couple times for kicks I bought calls and puts, to prove the point. Wouldn't you know the sucker stayed flat until opex?
-
Now THAT is illegal activity. Rumor mill suggesting there was a call from the Swamp. I believe it. Rules are for thee, not for mee!
-
You'd have to be a sucker to sell something like that right now... even a market maker like Citadel. I've tried to option my way into a few of these types of events in the past, even with a market order, I couldn't get a full position. Exiting during the volatility was equally difficult. One time I tried to fill the contract and the brokerage told me they couldn't get enough shares and just paid it out!
-
Placed my first order for seeds yesterday for my 2021 garden. 30 days to receive.... Wowzers.
-
There is no illegal activity. What they're doing is very smart. They are finding companies with extreme short floats and bidding them up, forcing shorts to cover, driving the price up, which forces more shorts to cover, which.... Whats fascinating to me is, GME is still just as short as it was when this started! Talk about greedy... I think they deserve whatever they are getting! Nobody forced them to borrow shares they didn't own. Stick to covered calls if you can't take the heat.
-
So, admittedly I'm a perma-bear... but I'm wondering if others here are bullish? If you were looking to short, would you go with an inverse ETF, or long bonds? I'm hearing chatter even bonds aren't safe. Don't say Gamestop... shouldda bought calls Monday, who knew!

When I first started reloading our rental house was a bit small. I mounted my press and powder unit to a board, and routed some slots to hold my scale and ammo boxes. When it was time to load I clamped that board to the kitchen table or coffee table, and took it down when done (or the wife started bitching). Now that board is (semi) permanently to the workbench in my shed. Not perfect, but it got me loading earlier.

Best of luck to you. In the hunt myself!
