They have buy backs every now and then in Memphis. They give people gas or groceries for each handgun turned in. So I am pretty sure the thugs just go out and steal other people's guns and turn them in and get free gas and groceries. Believe it or not, it has not helped crime there at all. I just wonder who comes up with these idiotic ideas.

My wife really likes that version. I have always really liked the original Simon and Garfunkel version myself, but this one is not bad. It is a lot more true to the original than the version Nevermore did a few years back. That one was pretty twisted. It was basically the same words but musically was for all intents and purposes a completely different song.

I have always tried to be polite and courteous every time I was pulled over (except the last time maybe), because I have friends who are law enforcement and have a lot of respect for them. However, I don't believe I have ever received a warning yet. It has been a ticket every time. The last time I was pulled over I had a very hard time holding my tongue, though. I was pulled over for 66 in a 55 on a divided 4 lane with a very good line of sight. What made me upset was that when I saw the officer coming up behind me he did not have his flashing lights on at all (it was nighttime) so I did not know it was a LEO coming up behind me. When I first spotted him in my rearview mirror, it scared the crap out of me. He was coming up on me at such a high rate of speed that it was ridiculous. I would guess he was exceeding 100 mph. I thought it was some nut job, so I turned off onto a side road as quick as I could because I was afraid the guy was going to run over me. As soon as I turned, he hit his blue lights. Pretty much the first thing he did when he came up to the window was try to lecture me about driving too fast. Needless to say after the way that he had just endangered the public with his recklessness, that got under my skin a little. I would guess he was going the other way on the divided road and had to go quite a ways to get turned around so he drove like an idiot in order to catch me. There is no way my driving 66 in a 55 on a divided 4 lane justified the high rate of speed he drove to catch up. I don't have a problem paying a ticket if I am guilty of it, but the public would have been better served for him to let me go in this case rather than placing the community he is paid to serve in harm's way by his reckless behavior. I guess I got off topic a little, but I just needed to rant because, even though it was about 2 years ago, it still irks me.

Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
Preacher357 replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If you are referring to David at Magnum Materials in Ashland City, I bought some powder and components from him last month at the gun show in Jackson. His prices were still good and he had a really good selection with him. I spoke with him on the phone a week or so ago trying to see if he was going to be in West TN and I think he said something about going to Knoxville. He has his phone number listed on the magnum materials website if you want to try to make arrangements with him. -
New to area South west Tn.

No Academy in Jackson, only Gander Mountain and they rarely have .22. However, all of the local stores have had .22 in stock recently, so I don't think finding it will be difficult. Range USA in Jackson is also a very good indoor range. I shoot there usually at least twice a week. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -

Hello David. I am a fellow Madison County resident. There are actually some good gun stores in Jackson with some of the best prices in the state. Brandon at Direct Hit on the south side of town usually has the best, but the good folks at Smokin' Guns aren't bad either and have little larger selection. There is also Parkway Gun and Pawn. I enjoy doing business with them and probably frequent their store even more than the other two. They don't have a large selection but you can sometimes find deals on used firearms there. We hear them every night in the woods behind our house in Madison County, probably not 100 or so yards away. It has just been in the last couple of years that we started hearing them. It drives our dogs crazy. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

As cheap as they are you can just about buy a second one to use for parts for about the same price as certain other brands of guns.

The comment made was that the gun company was marketing this gun to violence prone young men; however, it was not a young man that bought, but a middle age woman, his mother. Furthermore, the reason he had the gun was because he killed the legal owner and stole it. Given these facts, how can this situation in any way substantiate the claim being made against the gun company's marketing strategy? This is absurd. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

It looked to be mostly large, but I could not say what percentage because I haven't processed it yet, and I was not too concerned about it myself. I reload cartridges with both primers, so I stock up on both. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

How have I never heard of Black Bullets International? I live just down the road from Alamo and have worked in Transportation in West TN for years. I will have to check them out.

A question for any experienced reloaders
Preacher357 replied to Preacher357's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The cases were roughly half full, so I don't believe there would have been a problem; but I finally decided I did not want to take a chance. I was hoping someone else had done the same thing with this powder and could share their experience, but since no one had, I just went ahead and pulled them. I had several other bad cartridges that needed to be pulled as well, so I just bit the bullet, spent and hour or so, and pulled them all. I hate pulling bullets worse than just about anything, but in the end it was better safe than sorry. -

That is what I am hoping. I shoot .44 special more than magnum anyway, so I don't mind if it is not magnum power. I just want to make sure it is safe before I try. I just started loading with Accurate #9 so I don't know how it will work with that light a load. I am hoping someone on here has some personal experience with that powder that they can share. -
A question for any experienced reloaders
Preacher357 replied to Preacher357's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I have one. I just did not want to pull that many bullets. I messed up about 75 rounds before I realized it. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -
I accidentally undercharged quite a few rounds of .44 Magnum. I thought I had set the scale properly, but I was 5 grains off. Instead of loading 19.5 grains of Accurate #9 with a 230 grain XTP bullet, I only loaded 14.5 grains. In the expert opinion of the experienced reloaders on this forum, would this load be safe to shoot? I have heard the stories that light loads can explode, but most of what I have heard about were in rifle calibers where the case was loaded well below half full. Even in the pistol calibers that I have heard of, it was a light .38 special load put into a .357 case, so that again, it was loaded well less than half full. 14.5 grains loads the .44 mag case over half full. I am thinking that the worst I could expect would be a squib, but I would like some feedback. If it had just been a few then i would just pull them apart, but there are quite a few that I misloaded that will take a lot of time to separate back out into components. What do you guys think?

I have nothing against Colt (except for the cylinder turning backwards, which is just weird). I am just not sure why everyone is suddenly so crazy about them. If they were so good, why didn't people buy them when they were on the market. I know the price was high, but not as high as they are now, and people are actually still paying it. The truth is they were not as good or popular as a Smith & Wesson. That why S & W is still on the shelves and Colts revolvers have not been manufactured in years. The only reason people want them now is because they are considered collectors items since they are expensive and hard to find. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Thinking of relocating from behind the iron curtain
Preacher357 replied to shadyduk1979's topic in New Member Introductions
You're kidding, right. Please tell me you are joking. I will agree it is not too bad once you get outside Shelby County. Germantown and Collierville aren't bad, either, but they are still too close for comfort. Memphis proper just plain sucks. Any time you can cross over into Mississippi and see conditions improve it means it is bad. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -
Revolver carriers sound off
Preacher357 replied to FortKnox's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Though not every day, I often carry a S & W 642 either in a concealment express kydex iwb holster or a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. When concealment is not as much an issue, my favorite is my S & W 686 + Talo 3 5 7 edition with a 3 inch barrel in an owb Desantis holster. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -
They can keep it. I would rather have an S & W anyway. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Power Pistol is great for .40 as well. I have heard that it was designed specifically with that round in mind. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Problem with TGO member completing transaction
Preacher357 replied to cosmo1811's topic in Feedback and Support
I happen to own 2 .40 handguns and I want you to know that I am deeply offended by that comment. People with .40's have feeling too you know. It is not fair for everyone to pick on us. I am going to go cry now. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -
The S & W 686 would be a great choice for them if they were to use .38 special self defense ammo. The .357 magnum rounds might be too much. Another great option might be a S&W 629 44 Magnum with .44 special self defense ammo (not the easiest to find, but Hornady makes it in their critical defense line). My wife is not much on shooting and is extremely recoil sensitive. She would much rather shoot .44 special from my 629 than .38 special from my 686. The 44 special rounds are just very easy to shoot out of that big heavy 629 and you will be getting comparable velocity to the .38 special out of a bullet that is 55 grains larger (in the Hornady Critical Defense rounds).

If they buy Ammo for the range from a remanufacturer then they probably get credit from the brass against what they purchase. It is generally accepted, though, that policing your own brass is OK. Unfortunately, when there is a lot of brass on the floor it can be very difficult to pick out your own. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
