TGO Meet n' Greet at Everything Weapons -- Saturday, April 2nd, 2016
Preacher357 replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
It looks like I may not be able to come now. I will probably be spending the entire day pulling rounds apart that were loaded with the wrong primers. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -
I am about ready to throw in the towel. I have just spent the last several hours reloading .44 magnum, .44 special, and 45 acp. I get finished and then realize that somehow a box of CCI 250 Magnum Rifle Primers was mixed in with my 300 large pistol primers. I don't even load rifle cartridges, so I must have accidentally picked it up at the store when I bought the other. Now I have hundreds of rounds loaded and no idea which ones have the wrong primers in them. I believe it was in the last batch of .44 special, but I can't be sure. It could possibly have been in the .44 Magnum. I know it was not in the 45 acp, because I had already primed them previously. I sent a message to CCI to see what they would say, but I am pretty sure I know the answer: pull everything apart. Consulting the message boards online is basically a waste of time. The opinions range from "it will blow your arm off" to "it won't matter, I do it all the time". Would any experienced reloaders like to weigh in on my stupidity?

I have been buying my cast bullets from http://monmouthreloading.com/. They have some of the best prices I have seen and they are 18 on the Brinell scale so you can use them in magnum loads without any issues.

Man with guns detained at Bellevue Baptist Church (Memphis)
Preacher357 replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
If he is being treated for mental illness, then I wonder how he managed to get or keep a carry permit or buy the firearms. I guess maybe it was never reported. But if his family knew he was mentally ill then I wonder why they allowed him to have the weapons? -
Man with guns detained at Bellevue Baptist Church (Memphis)
Preacher357 replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
So basically the police admitted that he did not break any laws, The question then is, why was there an emergency commitment? Nothing in any of the reports indicates a reason. Was he truly acting mentally ill or did they just need to find some reason to justify arresting a man that had not committed a crime? I am not trying to make accusations, but it makes me wonder. -
Man blows off leg shooting Tannerite rifle targets
Preacher357 replied to Pete123's topic in General Chat
I think the key phrase in this is "as solely intended by the commercial manufacturer". It could be argued that piling this stuff inside or under something and blowing it up is outside what the manufacturer intended the product to be used for and is, therefore, not legal. -

I am not saying this guy isn't insane or that he should have carried an AR into the church; but Bellevue Baptist is a very large congregation that would make a prime target for a terror attack, especially on Easter Sunday. I can understand why he might be a little wary. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -

I agree that carrying a rifle is probably not the best idea, but that doesn't mean it should be illegal. In this country we should be free to be as imbecilic as we want as long as we don't violate the freedom of others. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -

I stand corrected. I thought TN had open carry on long guns. I am not really a long gun aficianado, so I never really thought much about it. That makes me very disappointed with our state. The right to keep and bear arms should be just as applicable, if not more, to long guns as it is to handguns. I thought we had more respect for the Constitution than that in TN. Maybe I need to move to TX. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -

I am planning on being there "Lord willing and the creek don't rise" -
I am looking for either one of those or a 66 myself.

if he had a permit and the church was not posted then there should not be any charges filed against him. The handgun I can understand. I have one on me in the pulpit every Sunday. The AR (or whatever it was) in his backpack might have been going a little overboard, but that does not mean it was illegal. I have seen no indication that he was actually wanting to shoot anyone. -
I use the Lee dies for 45 acp and have never had an issue. How much bell are you putting on the case? It could be that you are expanding the mouth too much and that is why it is not wanting to come out of the die. Have you tried decreasing the bell/backing the die out some to see if that helps? I don't load for competition, but I know Power Pistol is pretty good for 45 acp and I don't believe it would be difficult to load it to whatever power factor you desire. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

[quote name="Wingshooter" post="1367265" timestamp="1458104197"]The older ones are best. I haven't checked the used prices lately, but there's always a couple at the pawn shop. I picked up a 336 from a pawn shop in Jackson a few months ago for $250 out the door. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Honestly I don't have enough information to form an opinion on this. I am pretty sure none of these three were useful citizens, but how worthless these people are or were has no bearing on whether deadly force was justified or not.

I have never even heard of them.

I have tried just about everything to get the scroll to work again. I can live without the rest, but the scroll is a real pain. I have deleted and reinstalled drivers, changed settings, you name it; however, I was never able to find a new or different driver. I was hoping that they will eventually publish new drivers, but at the time that I did the update, I could not find any. I have not checked in a month or so, so they may have by now. I just got tired of messing with it so I pretty much just stopped using my laptop. I think I can probably get the networking going again, but have not really tried. After I got fed up with the laptop and stopped using it, there really was no need to network with it any more. I am sure after my frustration has passed I will start working on it again. Then again, it is 5 years old now, so I may just buy a new one. I just hate to do it, because that is money I could spend on guns.

I thought so as well, but I have been a benefactor the entire time and was not able to make the change until just recently. Maybe I should have asked, but it wasn't that big a deal to me anyway.
-
I waited it out. I finally got enough about a week ago and I have been on the forum for about 6 months total.

It think Win 10 is an improvement over 8, which sucked even worse than Vista. Unfortunately, after doing the upgrade, my laptop will no longer read finger prints and the scroll on the mouse pad no longer works. Also, none of my computers will recognize one another on my home LAN any longer. I wish I had never upgraded. I had 8.1 set to where it was basically like 7 already, so it was good enough and at least I could move files between computers.

Have they quit making .22WMR? UPDATE: NOW IN THE WILD
Preacher357 replied to seez52's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I know a couple of stores in West TN that have had some. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk -
It is a beautiful animal, but if they are even half as mean as my domestic cats, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near one that size.
-
That is a big rascal. I don't think I have ever seen one quite that size in West TN. I wonder where this was.

That is why I like a kydex inside the waistband holster. You just unhook the clip and slide holster and all out and then when you want to put it back on, you slide it back in. The trigger guard is protected inside the kydex the entire time.
