Add Rhinestone Rachel to the mix. She got a compound bow for Christmas and wants to hunt turkey with it this spring. She killed her first deer last fall. I taught her how to shoot, she now is one of three grandkids shooting cowboy. Her parents just bought land at Walden Farms and that is where I will take her to hunt turkey. We saw a dozen deer there during the final purchase walk thru so we'll see what else is out there. Cherokee Slim

Question about Missouri 38 cal. Bullets
Cherokee Slim replied to jeff43's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I used that Missouri bullet for all the .357, loaded for .38 Cowboy guns that we shot in matches for years. We used 3 of Bullseye. It was a good reliable "beer can" load. I also used that load to teach handgun shooting as a step up from .22s. Accuracy wise it grouped well, under a paper plate size at 50 yards. We changed over to Trail Boss because I found a lot of it and no Bullseye and just never went back. I weighed & mic'ed maybe 20 out of each box of 500 and they were always consistent. That's just my experience with them. That said I've started to use the Tennessee made Falcon bullets. They are exactly the same but made here. Cherokee Slim -
Oh my goodness! Now I remember why I dress & shoot cowboy all the time! My wife doesn't understand when I carry a Ruger Vaquero Sheriff in .45 in a crossdraw, every now and then. I sent the link to my kids and grandkids. I remember every single one of them. Molded a Cowboy in the 1950's and 60's. It's probably why I don't understand grandkids molded as zombies. Cherokee Slim

Take THAT up your merry gland, Maryland!!

That is a great letter. Respectful with no name calling. I will buy whatever they make first with Tennessee marked on it. Cherokee Slim -
Anyone have a rain catchment system?
Cherokee Slim replied to Hershmeister's topic in Survival and Preparedness
My neighbor runs his rain gutters into blue 55 gallon barrels, with overflow cascading into another barrel. The city has talked to him about it & his garden that runs from the front of the house to the curb. They don't like what it looks like but there aren't any ordinances against it. Cherokee Slim -
Managed deer hunt in Pisgah National Forest circa 1930
Cherokee Slim replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
I think we should all have to wear a tie and smoke a pipe to hunt deer. Cherokee Slim -
I'd get another 92 if it had "Made in Tennessee" on it. Cherokee Slim

Google map shows about #575 Highway 27/29. There is a blue roof Hi Tech auto repair place just a few yards north. CS
-
It's right close to the Rhea- Hamilton county line on 27 on the west side of the highway down in a hole. If I'm going north and get to the cemetery I turn around. Southbound it's past the cemetery. Some other kind of small business is on the highway. Cherokee Slim

I've purchased several guns there. The wife was always the only one there. It's easy to spend as much spare time as you have just looking at stuff. It's not all on the walls or in cases. It's stuck away in corners and all over the floor. It's a great place to visit. Cherokee Slim

Big for a pocket. Maybe tighter blue jeans but dress pants don't work. I usually use a Remora or DeSantis IWB. CS

When does Wally set out ammo in the am?
Cherokee Slim replied to serbu50's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I think all ammo purchased from another person, as opposed to reloading, has to have the tax stamp. CS -
I couldn't tell from the junky map I saw. Both of them in one parking lot? That should be fun. CS

Looks like they will be in the Walmart strip of businesses, almost across the street from Academy. http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/24434923/gander-mountain-to-open-store-in-hixson Like 'em or not, it's a cool place and they got my attention with this - "Gander Mountain's newest store will feature one of the largest selections of new and used firearms in Tennessee, together with the best selection of gear and accessories for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and archery." I've carried one ever since we came back to the states in late 2009. It's a favorite & I rotate it with a G36 and an LC9. It doesn't jam, always works, is easy to conceal and works well for it's designed purpose. It's for self defense, it's not a long range target gun. Cherokee Slim

I did. All LEOs and military take an oath of office. On loan once as a Trooper I even had to take another one for the Marshal Service. CS

What Lever Action Rifle to get and what caliber.
Cherokee Slim replied to Sonny's topic in Long Guns
We shoot Cowboy twice a month. One grandson & I shoot Ruger Vaqueros and a Marlin Cowboy, all in .45lc. One granddaughter & another grandson shoot Rugers in .38 or .32 and a Marlin in .357. Either of the Marlins will easily harvest a deer or a hog with hunting, not match loads. Cherokee SLim -
I almost didn't post at the start of this thread. Different people look at thing differently and someone's sacred cow I may just look at as just hamburger. The thread has been thought provoking without anybody getting their panties in a bunch. That's good, the way we should do it. Happy New Year! Cherokee Slim

So if he shows a badge, and makes a "law comment or judgement" about what he sees, would he not be representing himself as a LEO? Subject to a real one busting his chops? I've told my whole family and anybody that listens that badges are easy to get, I've collected almost 300 in 45 years, but they are useless without the credentials that ALWAYS go with them. We have a problem in Chattanooga with this that ends up with a robbery. Plus if he looks like a bum, weighs 400 lbs and needs a haircut I go with a bad guy assessment immediately. Cherokee Slim

Here is a ranking of some veteran charities that I've found useful. The WWP gives over 30% to fund raising, more than I personally would want to give to. I believe I've also seen that the top 3 or 6 in it make something like $300k each. http://backhome.news21.com/interactive/charity-interactive/ Cherokee Slim

We had DISH but lost the signal whenever a cloud went by. It was never on in storms. We changed to EPB Fiber optics and are happy as a pig in slop. Cherokee Slim

I bought one from that Athens place in May. The tub is great and out on my deck. Great product, but they refused to honor their written contract to take away the old one. Let the buyer beware. It's hard to make them do anything once they have your money. Cherokee Slim
