My wife has gone through 4 holsters and 2 carry purses trying to find something she likes for her DB9. Most of the time she just puts it in her front pocket. She quit griping about me bring home a new gun decades ago so I don't say anything about her holsters. Like most shootists I have a large drawer full of holsters. Seems like the best thing to do is just keep experimenting to find what is just right for you. Body type and clothing style will figure into how you will carry. Think of holsters like shoes, you never have enough or exactly what you want. I say that with total humility, having experience with one wife (45 years) 2 daughters and three granddaughters who are teenagers. Cherokee Slim

Open carry advocates prompt Chipotle posting

I had not seen this photo. No wonder they didn't want them there. I read one report that said that they had just come from a shoot/range and didn't want to leave the guns in the car. When we eat out coming back from a cowboy match we only eat where we can see the truck & one person has "Gun Guard" when everybody else is in the restroom or ordering. Cherokee Slim -
They have been seen in downtown Chattanooga. You can see them fairly regularly if you are driving at dawn to maybe 10am in Hamilton/Rhea County areas. I hunt with permission in Hamilton, Rhea, Marion and Dixson counties and the landowners all say the same thing - Pass up a chance to kill one and you won't hunt my property again. I know Dixson co where I deer hunt & Rhea co where I never saw a turkey have been losing calves and other small animals for several years now. Cherokee Slim

My wife fount $250 in cash that I stashed in a jacket that I seldom wore. I'd forgotten about it. I also didn't get it back due to the "Finders Keepers Losers Weepers" rule. Cherokee Slim

I post whatever I want to sell here first and Gun Owners Club next. I've never failed to sell whatever I've had posted. I sold two pistols at the Camp Jordan show just by having a picture & prices printed out and stuck to my backpack. Cherokee Slim

The Woodcraft store here in Chattanooga has closed. I don't know if they just moved but I haven't seen them anywhere. I'm a shade tree carpenter, also called a gorilla carpenter. It's not always pretty but you can jump up and down on it. The house we bought has/had a kitchen island with a formica top and drawers. My wife got bored with it and with one of her "all ya gotta do is" statements we are building a new one. We got an old bedroom dresser and so far have beefed it up, put wheels on it, added 2 shelves to the back side and am starting on a butcher block top. I can measure twice or even three times and still mess it up. We will use a greenish colored birch and a lighter yellowish colored pine. We got it all at Home Depot. Between the dresser and what will be the butcher block I'll put s 3/8" piece of plywood for strength, and to bind the shelves to the dresser. The plan is to use biscuits & glue, with screws from below to secure the butcher block to the plywood to the dresser/shelves top. Cherokee Slim

I'm glad some people are seeing turkeys. Rhinestone Rachel & I have been out 4 times on Brayton Mountain in Rhea county and have not seen the first bird. We will endeavor to persevere. Cherokee Slim

LGS & Vendors in Jefferson City/Dandrige
Cherokee Slim replied to Cherokee Slim's topic in General Chat
Thanks. I now have a plan. -
There is an ammo tax but I am seeing more & more LGS selling .22 in ziplock bags without a stamp. I have also gotten ammo at Walmart, Sportsman's Warehouse & Academy without a stamp. I would bring it in and not worry about it. We are not Washington DC and unless you pick a fight our LEOs will not care. We worry about more important things here, like deer season and if the corn crop will produce enough to keep the shiners happy. Cherokee Slim

Going to Dandrige & Jefferson City next week to visit family. Are there any good LGS or Vendors around there? Thanks, Cherokee Slim

Junior Turkey Hunt - Which licenses needed?
Cherokee Slim replied to Cherokee Slim's topic in Hunting and Fishing
OK Thank you CS -
I'm trying to decide exactly what licenses Rhinestone Rachel will need Saturday week for the Junior Turkey Hunt. I see this at TWRA: "Junior Hunt/Trap/Fish -002 Ages 13-15. Good for hunting all game, fishing, and trapping. Must be purchased prior to 16th birthday. No supplemental licenses are required, but special season and WMA permits will need to be purchased in addition to this license. Fees apply when applying for quota hunt permits and "leftover" permits." TWRA It seems to say this basic license is good for the turkey hunt. It will be on family land in Sequatchie County, and I will take her. She wants to bow hunt at 15years old. Does she need in addition to the 002 license either 009 or 010? "*Supplemental Licenses (Types 005, 009, 010, or 011) are required and must be purchased, in addition to the Type 001 license, in order to hunt deer, bear, boar (feral hog), turkey, and waterfowl." TWRA Thanks for the help. Cherokee Slim

I worked with a Trooper once who shot mice with regular .22s out of his old High Standard pistol. Only difference was he did it when he was drunk and sitting on his living room couch shooting into the kitchen. New years eve was always an event at his house. He's divorced now for some reason or other. Cherokee Slim

I've used them for helping a shooter see that they are flinching when they shoot. Same thing with empty chambers in a revolver of blanks in an auto. Cherokee Slim
