  1. So if you buy one at Walmart or wherever will Verizon activate it on an existing line?
  2. One story said that she posted a picture of her new purse with concealed holster compartment on her Facebook page.  Not a wise move. Cherokee Slim
  3. Sometimes I'll carry a short barrel Walther P22 around the yard but never when I go out.  I've been hung up on .45 for a long time.  I did notice that when I was a Range Officer for the Cleveland Club's HCP class that there were more women attending, and more men & women using .22s both revolver and auto. 4. When we moved back to the states in 2010 we bought a house in Lakesite and didn't need the property where I would have built a house to retire.  Just into Marion County near the Hamilton County line, Highway 127.  It had three building sites on 10 acres.  On a paved highway with Prentiss Cooper on the back side with a view of the Sequachee Valley.   Rural area.  I paid $1200 per acre about 15 years ago and sold in in 2010 for $2400/acre.  That was about average for the area average.  FYI hoping to help. 5. Kindle Fire directly downloads from Amazon.
  6. So you have to go there and download it from, like a closed system?  Or can you do it from home?  Sounds interesting.
  7. Yes.  They are all Fires.  Free books come to my email every day from:   BookBub info@bookbub.com   There are others as well.
  8. Yes. And check into whatever username/password bank, credit card or whatever.  Email as well.
  9. I have 8 Kindles.  I've gifted them to my wife, and every child and grandchild, even the 6 year old.  We don't buy paper books anymore, they are all downloaded.  I even use whatever version of the Bible I need and study books, including Spanish on mine.  We check our email, surf the internet and have apps for everything we need.  I have EPBFI so my downloads are on the Kindle almost instantly.  Even online shopping, mostly at Amazon, is quick and easy.  After 2 years the battery on my wife's Kindle started going bad so I ordered a new one and 10 minutes after I got it I easily installed it.  My battery is 3 years old and still isn't a problem.  We have had zero problems.  Content for children can be controlled.  The only thing I don't like is that I can't tell which of the 8 Kindles on my account downloaded or bought something.  Trust & parental oversite generally takes care of that. 10. I can still remember how it ustawuz.  Remember the video of Reagan getting shot?  Yeah, there was some delay getting the subgun out of the briefcase, but overall the agents moved fast to protect the president and take down the bad guy.  As a State Trooper I helped guard Ford once.  The SS didn’t want any local or state officers anywhere near him.  Some had to disarm even in uniform, to be in the same room with the principal.  They used what was called a diamond formation with several layers.  We were relegated to the very outmost layers, like we could just barely be trusted.  There was no doubt in my mind that the Secret Service agents were 100% committed to keeping their principal alive.  They were also the most arrogant, pompous, holier than thou SOBs I ever worked around.  There were even worse than the FBI and that was pretty bad.   So I really don’t understand how from a professional protection point of view they have fallen so low.  I assume they are still the pompous aholes they used to be, but now the President of the United States is protected by banana republic caricatures of their great predecessors.    I don’t like the current POTUS any more than most people here, but I also don’t want to see any physical harm come to him or his family.  Besides the idea of “President Biden” giving me nightmares, we just don’t kill the guy because we don’t like anything about him.   I’m guessing the bald guy with glasses is his primary bodyguard, you see him all the time with Obama.  Just watching them on TV gives the impression of a looser area of protection.  I wouldn’t think the training has changed, probably only gotten better and tougher.  The threat level is through the ceiling, so that’s much worse.  So what has changed?  Just political correctness?  Afraid of repercussions after even a good response call?  Different generation not really willing to die for the current guy?   Let’s not make it an Obama bashing thread, that’s too easy.  Why has one of the oldest, best-trained law enforcement services gone so systemically bad?   Cherokee Slim
  11. Retired cowboys have met at Paneras in Hixson several times.  They like us and don't mind when we move several tables together to just talk and drink.  I've OCd there a few times but mostly conceal.  I don't go there much but now I'll go just to see what if anything they post.  Tennessee may be the Buckle on the Bible Belt, but that belt is a gun belt.  I doubt anything will change. 12. The PM9 or even the PM40 are well made, trustworthy after break-in pocket pistols.  I've had both with no complaints but got rid of them when . . .  I don't remember why.  Probably a shiny new something or other came along that I couldn't live without. Cherokee Slim
  13. Beautiful, slim, well made, but a .380 when you could have a 9mm, and it has a horrendous double action trigger pull.  I've had several, even had one worked on to ease the DA pull and still decided it wasn't worth it.   IF I have to pocket carry I carry the DB9 that I got my wife to carry.  Apparrently we got the only one that actually works, at least from forum posts.  I don't shoot reloads in it at all, mostly round nose hollow points and have had zero problems.   Cherokee Slim

  15. One of my favorite clubs & ranges is Wartrace. Really friendly people, home of the Tennessee SASS State Match coming up in October and a great range. Cherokee Slim http://www.wartraceregulators.com/StateMatch.aspx
  16. I have this laminated and keep it in the truck whenever I'm at a school for whatever reason.  It's never been an issue. 17. A simple Internet search shows the following prices per round today.  All are out of stock.  The Armory - .16 Midway - .08 Armslist - .16 KY Imports - .16   This post was not intended to foster price-gouging comments.  I simply posted where it is and what it costs.  If you don’t want it, don’t buy it.  If you need it, you know where you can get it. 18. True, it's cheaper at SW and even Walmart when they have it.  But I'm not going to stand in a line on Monday mornings or any other time or place just to buy a couple of boxes.  It was there on the counter so I bought it, and sent my wife back to buy 2 more on the way out.  I don't really need any, but it was cool to just go up top the counter, see .22 ammo (not in a baggie) and be able to buy it.  It is their higher grade target level so it would cost a little more anyway. 19. I was at Academy in Hixson last night and as usual no .22 in the gun department.  I asked when it comes in and the clerk told me they pretty much had it all the time now, BUT that it is at customer service on top of the cabinets.  It was indeed there, 2 box limit but a pile a good 2 feet square of boxes.  They had more cases on the floor.   It is the Mexican Aquila, Super-Extra, 40 grain copper covered bullet.  I would buy this stuff by the 4 brick case when I worked in Mexico and it was fine.  It was $4.49 per/box, but you can't shoot what you don't have. 20. Granted, in my younger days I made tongue-in-cheek comments about the Army as well as those guy who float around all the time in their little boats.  Serious comments made at 17 years old quickly grew into respect when I watched brothers in arms from all services bleed and die for this country that we all hold so dear.     Now I watch as 1200 Army Captains last month are being downsized, with almost 600 Majors announced yesterday.  They are gutting the men and women who have the experience and moral fortitude to keep our military running at least semi-efficiently.  I assume staff NCOs are also part of the cuts as well.   It greaves me to see our country falling so far so fast.  The only sure thing is that sooner or later that "From the halls of Montazuma to the shores of Tripoli" will go from beloved hymn to boots on the ground again, with more of our young people dying.   Cherokee Slim Sergeant of Marines 1968-1972
  21. Sportsman's Warehouse on Monday mornings when they open have had .22. Cherokee Slim
  22. Last month Hamilton County courthouse security took my water bottle but not my 3" Gerber.  They didn't seem to care so I kept my mouth shut. Cherokee Slim
  23. This week for the first time this year Walmart had about 20 boxes of Winchester Super X 100 sitting in the gun case when I went by.  The clerk said no one had come by  that day and let me buy 3 boxes.  Luck, right place at the right time? Who knows.  I do know some cowboys were at Sportsman's Warehouse Monday morning and got to buy .22s. Cherokee Slim
  24. Those are beautiful.  Seems almost a waste to do one that nobody can see.  I'd want to pull it out and show it off, thus defeating it's purpose.  On the other hand, there are those of us who sit in front of the TV fondleing guns, holsters & gear.  Cherokee Slim
  25. This is what it usta be, mid 70's. It was used as a command post for raids, blowing up stills and major DWI campaigns. Still in the bubble gum machine days, one of the first strobe light bars is the car to the extreme right. Cherokee Slim
