Cabela's Opening Fort Oglethorpe, Ga
Cherokee Slim replied to crossfire's topic in Events and Gatherings
Anyone get a good look at powder? I'm close to being in a hole for H322 & I can always use Trail Boss. It's a long haul for me to come from Lakesite. I shoot Cowboy every third Saturday at Mystery Dog Ranch off of Exit 1 so that would be close for a trip there except for all the guns in the truck. Cherokee Slim -
On Flattop Mountain in Hamilton County I got my limit twice last week using nightcrawlers from Ace Hardware. Cherokee Slim

I always carry a .45. I'd like to handle that one and see how heavy it is compared to my G36 & Colt New Agent. It looks pretty sweet. I wish I'd thought of that excuse. Cherokee Slim

I'm blocked on my reply so I Pmd it to you. Cherokee Slim

I have shot my Norinco in matches since 2008 without any kind of a hitch. NIB about $325 and I have shot literally thousands of shells through it. Having a real Winchester is nice and some people do shoot them. You couldn't shoot that Cerakote one in a match but if you could get it for about $400, why not get it and shoot it? Cherokee Slim

A tall tale about an international firearms license.
Cherokee Slim replied to suspiciousmind's topic in General Chat
I was a missionary church planting pastor for just over 30 years. Tennessee State Trooper for ten before that. Colombia required a diplomatic visa in a civilian passport for other responsibilities that I had. Being a gun owner, target shooter & hunter allowed us to work with a middle class & up demographic group. (They had the money to actually buy guns & ammo) They were the community, military & political people needed to actually start a self supporting church with a national pastor. I actually shot a Cowboy style match in Peru with some military guys, using autos because it was what everybody had. Cherokee Slim -

This is the kind of place. you just have to hunt what you want. They would never pass muster at any port of entry anywhere, especially since they were from a country that didn't exist. They were just good enough to get past the roadblocks the guerrillas would put out to fish for rich Americans to hold for ransom. https://www.reddit.com/r/videogamedunkey/comments/2txibh/buy_fake_us_passport_buy_fake_uk_passport_buy/ http://www.topix.com/forum/city/parsons-tn/TA3U13I0JRRHRBR9V With modern printing capabilities you could make your own from the country of Outer Mundalhamptonshire if you wanted. The idea is not to deceive the authorities, but to deceive the bad guys that want to do you harm. -

There used to be a place that made real looking fake passports from a fake European country whose name escapes me now. We carried them in Colombia all the time for fake roadblocks. FARC was always trying to kidnap Americans so we used them anyplace that wasn't an official Government port of entry. Illiterate police & bad guys and no computers made them a viable option for travel within the country. Cherokee Slim -

I've had carry permits in three countries; Colombia, Mexico and Peru. In every case the permit was directly tied to a specific firearm, purchased through their government approved sellers. Rifle, shotgun or pistol, each had their own permit, with my name, picture & resident visa # on them. Cherokee Slim -
Zip, zero, Nada. It rained for a while but the temps back up to 36. Cherokee Slim

depends on caliber & s/n. Could be a "N" frame from 1951-1952; or a Pre Model 10 made between 1945 and 1948 Like DaveTN says. More info is needed. Cherokee Slim

Pm me the model, caliber & full sn. If it doesn't have a model # on the inside of the crane tell me what's written on the barrel. I'll look it up in the S&W bible. Cherokee Slim

We have 9.5" in Lakesite right now. I expect the heavy snow to wreak havoc on the power lines next. Cherokee Slim

My wife & I are going to visit our granddaughter at Austin Peay over Valentines weekend. I'd like to take her out to shoot along with a prospective SIL. Are there any not indoor ranges there? What else is there to do there? The last several times I have posted a question like this I've gotten some really good ideas of things to do. (Tri-Cities, Oak Ridge, etc.) Thanks Cherokee Slim

I get them all.

I have a Uniden Trunk Tracker III that I listen to when bored or during bad weather. It picks up everything that happens anywhere near Hamilton county. Normally it's just normal stuff that a list of incident codes will decipher easily. I remember when the tornados hit here a few years ago I listened to the rescue crews as they found the dead and injured. I heard one worker lose it when he found that little boy in a tree where the tornado had left him. It was really rough. When I was a Trooper my wife would listen to the scanner whenever I was working. I know one deputy's wife that heard her husband had been shot, & my wife heard about a wreck I was in when listening. Back then most LEOs will censor what they say on the radio if they knew family may be listening. Probably still do. I don't need an outside antenna. An older piece of "medical" history I have
Cherokee Slim replied to glowdotGlock's topic in General Chat
In Spanish speaking countries La Grippe(a) seems to be the medical term for everything from a cold to being pregnant. We did hundreds of medical brigades (medical mission trips) in jungles, mountains and cities all over South America and invariably when you asked what was wrong it was the infamous la Grippe. Treatment varied. Cherokee Slim -

Single action revolvers for carry purposes?
Cherokee Slim replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I was also somewhat surprised that majority of at the last class shot .22s in revolver & auto. Cherokee Slim -

SA revolvers aren't that uncommon at the HCP class. I've seen quite a few at the ones that I've help RO. Cherokee Slim -

Every now & then I carry the top revolver. It's a .45, 3 1/2" barrel. I use a Remora or a large frame IWB holster. It has the transfer bar so I carry 6 shots. Why? Why not? Cherokee Slim
