1. I thought you sold off all your guns? CS
2. It's the one at I24 exit 29, close to or at M'Boro.
3. I bought 6k small & large pistol primers at Outpost Armory.  They had pallets of primers, rifle as well.  Some powder, Trail Boss I use and several I've never used before.  They had a lot of guns, ammo & supplies.  It was worth the trip from the Cleveland range after the cowboy match. 4. Soddy Daisy & Hwy 153 Walmarts have empty ammo shelves.  Some .17 & .458 Alaskan but nothing I can use.  Academy on 153 has lots of ammo & calibers, but no target lower priced or .22.  At Academy you had to leave your DL just to get on a list to see firearms last night.  They had 4 salesmen staying busy the whole time we were there.  They said that it was at least a one hour wait just to see a gun, and another hour to process the sale. 5. My last three years of work were either in the jungle or 13,000+ feet up in the mountains above Cusco Peru.  I used a space blanket several times in storms, wrapped up in my truck cab.  We also brought down an old Quechua man we found almost dead in a ditch.  We always had spares since they can tear, but if you just wrap up in them they are worth their weight in gold. 6. Thank you. We haven't ruled anything in or out yet. Regardless she will do the RAD at Austin Phea because that's where she will be going. Cherokee Slim
7.
My wife did RAD put on by my local PD. http://www.rad-systems.com/
She will go to Austin Pea so their RAD may work as well. Thanks
8. Defensive Divas hits it dead on. I'll talk to Amy there. Thanks Cherokee Slim
9. Where are you in "East Tennessee"? Cherokee Slim KC4IHO
10. My teenage granddaughter is going off to college next fall and we want her to be prepared to defend herself. No guns since she is underage, no ninja throwing stars, blowguns or nunckucks. Besides pepper spray, is there any women's defense classes offered around Chattanooga? She apparently has matured to where she knows everything so I can't teach her anything, so Chattanooga State or something? Thanks for the help. Cherokee Slim
11.
If I was a dealer I would make the claim or fuel the rumor mill the box store ones are special or are of lesser quality. Because i want you to buy from me. Think about it from the manufacturer side. They must be the same, or they would run the risk of alienieting the customers or open themselves up to some liability.
In addition to this, Walmart buys in huge quantity, way more than any LGS ever could. I've compared Winchester & Savage hunting rifles several times because I have exported, then imported them into countries where I have worked. I didn't want to go to all that trouble for junk. There was zero difference in Winchester and Savage long guns. I want to help support the LGS, especially since some are friends, but if I can save a considerable amount at Wally I have to go with them. Cherokee Slim
12.
That deer is beautiful, it is a shame they killed it. I don't think I could have. Too rare...
I'm looking at that deer, like maybe I would an albino or pinto colored deer. I don't think I'd shoot it, unless it had a humungous rack. I doubt an odd colored buck would last long around here. Cherokee Slim
13. My wife will carry my DB9 because of it's size. She doesn't like it's kick but it's not a target pistol that she will shoot thousands of times. We don't like the checkered backstrap, it's unnecessary and cuts into your hand. I'd get rid of it if I could figure out a way to take it off and leave a smooth finished result. It is really small and you can easily forget that you have it. Cherokee Slim
14. In keeping with the picture part of this thread here are two of the Holy Grails of Tennessee insignia. The first is the 1926- 1929 Tennessee State Police badge. I saw one original in Nashville on the wall and bid in an auction for the only one I have ever seen up for sale. It finally sold to a professor at Lambuth College in Jackson for $3800.00 years ago. The second is the patch from the infamous "Yellow Jackets" of the THP back around 1929 or 1930. They were reputed to be thugs who personally worked for the governor and did all his dirty, sometimes illegal work. It was worn on yellow motorcycle jackets. Cherokee Slim
15. Looks like sweeping your thumb down to unsnap the holster could do the safety as well. If you need it that's fine, if not in a foggy moment you could have an AD. That's a serious thought by the way, just so you know. Cherokee Slim
16. Collecting old police memorabilia, mostly from the Tennessee State Police & USMS. After about 9 lustrums I've got about 300 badges, probably more patches. I've slowed down a lot since 9/11 and like all serious collectors I want to know how I'm dealing with. Cherokee Slim
17. The holster will loosen up after you use it for a while. A completely different idea that I had for you after I got my new Cimarron Wild Bunch .45 would be a lanyard loop. Get some kind of a neck chain, sling or whatever and there ya go. Just like Tuco (the Ugly) from the spaghetti westerns. Ready to use instantly. Just tryin to help a youngster. Cherokee Slim
18. No clip size 12 Cherokee Slim
19. I carry the one you shot in a Remora holster all the time. It works well for me. Cherokee Slim
20. If you really want rural go to - Wolf Pen, Pocahontas or Chewalla (all in McNairy county) Cherokee Slim
21. This isn't all that uncommon. I've been in many of the embassies and consulates in Latin America. They always have National Police or military for perimeter guards. The Marines I've seen always had empty weapons, with ammo & magazines locked up in a weapons safe somewhere near the main entrance. Bogotá Marines actually had empty S&W revolvers several times when I was there. Cherokee Slim
22. First time shooters always are welcome regardless of what you bring with you. My first time in 2005 I showed up with the wrong type of guns, nylon holsters, etc. I was given guns ammo and leather to use that day. One way or another you will have everything you need. Cherokee Slim
23. You can get shooting glasses that are like bifocals. I use regular light orange shooting glasses with the bottom part a +2 & top part no magnification so that I can see the front sight when I want to. Don't get prescription ones unless you just want to, Midway and others sell pairs for less than $25. I got mine at Bass Pro in Atlanta. Cherokee Slim
24. I've looked again, this time with glasses & a bright light. I think if it was laser you could see it better so the under slide part of the frame was probably stamped. It says - AP INTL PAHRUMP NV with PHILIPPINES under it. Cherokee Slim
25. I just got one to shoot Wild Bunch. It was about $410 so it makes for an inexpensive way to shoot 1911's if you don't want to expose a better gun to the heavy duty use of a WB match. Mine has functioned flawlessly passing 100 factory round ball and 250 RN lead reload that have to be used in a match. Finish isn't bad, it's supposed to look 1911ish. The markings aren't done very well, laser made I think, You can see the Rough Rider and slide markings, but other info under the front of the frame can't be read. You can understand that it was "made in the Philippines" but there are gaps. All in all it breaks down like a regular 1911, it just isn't finished out like a more expensive brand. I don't like the lanyard loop on the grip, and I'll have to grind it off to make it legal to shoot WB. Comes with one magazine, kinda a cheepie with a butt pad so I couldn't use it anyway. I'm using Chip McCormick magazines without a hitch. Cherokee Slim
