So I've fallen in love with IDPA and shoot the CCP class with my Springfield XD Mod.2 9mm. I'm not loaded so I can only buy one gun right now. I'm considering the following 1. CZ SP 01 Shadow 2. Springfield XDM 5.25 comp model 3. Colt Gold Cup 1911 The first two I would shoot SSP. The third would be CDP. That Gold Cup is a bucket list gun but I'm just not sure it makes much sense. I'd never carry it. It would be a safe queen and Comp gun only. I mean doesn't every man have to own at least one 1911. It a dilemma because I also love that CZ and the Springfield which would shoot most like my carry weapon but I hear the trigger stinks so that would jump the gun up to around $800. I think at that point I'd pick up the CZ or the Colt. I'm also looking for a different caliber gun but again that doesn't make much sense. I've selected 9mm as my go to caliber by a different feel / experience for IDPA and range time is the allure. Any other IDPA gun suggestions? PS. I HATE GLOCKS. Great guns but just not for me. I don't like the grip and feel. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.

Is There Such A Thing As Clean Ammo?
Monkeybat replied to TNman207's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I clean my guns for fun so I don't care if they get dirty and I always clean them after every range session regardless of round count. I'm sure that will get old one day. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude. -
Had to take down some Christmas decorations from outside. They were trying to migrate to China. The wind is gusting heavily in Gallatin. Feels great outside which concerns me.

Our Zoe is so old now I don't even worry about the fence not working. She's earned the right to wander a bit. She's no threat and the whole neighborhood knows her. I don't worry about her getting injured or hurt. She's 14 years old. I figure letting her do what she wants to is a fine reward for being such an amazing dog for so many years. She couldn't run down a turtle now.

I picked one up years ago when the tornado went through Vol State up in Gallatin. We lost power for a solid week. I had a salt water reef tank at the time that drew about 10,000 watts. It was huge! I got the generator to save the tank. I would run the fridge for a time, then power the tank. It couldn't run both! I love the idea of having the back up now. I need to check mine. It's not been fired up in a few years.

TN ranked 43rd among states as least likely to survive zombie attack.
Monkeybat replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
A study obviously flawed. Seriously, I'd think TN would be in the top five states for survival. West Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia. All these would be the states I would pick for the highest possible survival rates. Rural areas, well armed population, lots of ammo, longer growing season for food. Yeah, I think we would be just fine. -
Most people that I know from California that moved here are running from the same crazy BS we want to avoid ourselves. Of course I've also had friends who were normal that moved to Cali and it turned them into fruitcakes. I've been once. I went to San Diego which is supposed to be one of the nicest parts of California. Yeah, that one trip was enough for me. If I want to be a minority, I'll go to Aruba or Bermuda.

I went outside this morning and it does feel like something wicked this ways comes. It shouldn't feel like this two days before Christmas. That's some unstable air mass out there! Gonna be a fun day. I work at home and I'm pulling for a power outage. Laptop batteries and cell phone internet only last so long! Shooting for an early start to my vacation! Haven't let the boss know I have a generator yet. I'll probably keep that on the down low.

Least happy and most miserable cities in Tennessee
Monkeybat replied to TSprint1's topic in General Chat
I'm pretty happy in Gallatin and I think the further east I could get the happier I'd be. -
I had the long prong collar. We even shaved her neck hair short where it would come in contact. You just can't stop a determined Siberian Husky! They are extremely powerful dogs. I've heard they are the strongest dog pound for pound. Plus they are very headstrong as well. Luckily they are loyal!

Canon is dead. This is all new. Movie was epic even if JJ played it safe on the story line. In my opinion this is better than all the others except IV and V.

Bury it well. We did not bury ours good enough and broke it. Now try finding where the line is cut! We did have success when it worked. It didn't quit because if was faulty, it was owner error. My experience with stubborn dogs though is that it's not as effective. My Husky would get a full head of steam and get through it when she wanted to. For a little dog, no worries. We cranked up the max distance for the shock and the max impact. The Husky finally got tamed. The little dog took once on full power and never tried it again. I think he peed himself.

I don't have a truck now but it will be my next purchase. Either that or a Wrangler but the truck would be more useful. I'll pick up an F 1-50 quad cab a couple of years old. I just got to wait till my Jeep dies. I drive cars until they hit an unrepairable state. Got 160,000 miles now and it's leaking oil. Overheats if you sit still but it runs. I too hate car payments. Tn Action Pistol - 12/16/15 "Christmas Vacation" Match!
Monkeybat replied to Wiljo05's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
By the way thanks for the inspiration! I write TV and radio scripts. I wrote one based on Christmas Vacation yesterday that my boss and clients love! You get inspiration in odd ways. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that guns inspire me! Sent from the Fortress of Solitude. -
Tn Action Pistol - 12/16/15 "Christmas Vacation" Match!
Monkeybat replied to Wiljo05's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
That's my goal every time! Great time last night. I always enjoy it. Being a rookie I really appreciate the advice you pros share at the shoots. Thanks for all the work the TAP teams does to pull these shoots off. Merry Christmas everybody. I hope you all get lots of toys for Christmas. I need ammo after last night! Neither has mine! Hell I'd be happy with a 1% increase in take home pay. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.

We took in a stray. She's an outdoor cat. She's got kittens on the way, then she's getting fixed! We are going to keep one kitten and they will be outdoor cats. If anybody wants a kitten, just PM me. Not sure when to expect them, but if they are like their mother they will be mousers. She's a mouse killing machine. The first two weeks she adopted us, she killed 10 mice on our 1/2 acre suburb! I won't have another indoor cat though. I hate litter boxes.

Yeah a single guy at my work just bought a sweet super charged Porsche. Two years old and still almost $100k. I just don't want a payment. I'm far past the point of keeping up with the Jones. Most of the time the Jones are in stupid debt. I owe on my house. That's all.

I'd love to have a new truck, but I don't buy vehicles until mine can't be put back together again. I could afford to drive a BMW, but I drive a 2004 Jeep Liberty with 160,000 miles, an oil leak, it overheats and needs a thermostat. My wife has a 2002 Exterra with 110,000 miles on it. Vehicles are terrible investments of money. A total waste to ever buy one new. As far as trucks go, take it from an industry informed insider. Ford trucks are better than Ram and Chevy right now in just about every aspect. Pick up one a couple of years old and let the original buyer take the hit for depreciation. If you are looking to buy right now, it is in fact the best time to get a brand new vehicle if you insist on a new one. The good thing about trucks is that they are more durable than cars, they hold their resale value better than most vehicles on the road. If you plan on financing a truck, it may be better to buy a brand new one if you can get 0% financing. We bought our Exterra new because we had to finance it and the interest rate on new was so much better than used that the payments were better on the new vehicle.

I work in automotive advertising and I'll tell you there is more profit in a truck than any other common vehicle sold. At the end of the year you can get them to drop prices by $10,000 on high end models. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.

WOW! I bought a Mod.2 in the 3 inch model last February for around $550 locally. To boot some joker put CA compliant mags in the pack and Springfield swore that was correct, so I had to buy two more mags. You got a steal! I want the 4 inch service model in 45 acp also, but I'm tapped out for now.

My kitty is dieing. Very sad day. She won't make it through the day. Just making her comfortable and giving her lots of love. She was the first pet my wife and I got together. She's 16 and has been a very sweet and loveable cat. Well at least to me anyway. She never really like anybody else. She's actually my wifes cat, but being a "non" cat guy, she took right to me. For the past several years she's been my recliner partner watching tv with me every night. I'll miss her.

I'll vouch for that. I have a 16 year old husky. She's always been great with people. Likes most dogs except a few she didn't know that approached my daughters. She's been a great dog. She's coming to the end of her road. We just about need a pill sorter for her. She's my big fluffy and sheds a ton but she is worth it. I would invest in a Dyson vacuum if you get a Husky! I vote lab. Big, smart, trainable and a good watch dog and family pet. I have a 16 year old Siberian Husky. She's my baby, but she's in bad shape. She will probably have to be put down soon so I feel your pain. She's been the best dog I could ever imagine in every way. She's small for her breed. 55 pounds, but I've seen her rip apart a 100 pound male boxer with ease. He moved towards my children and she was on him like lightning. I would not have chosen this breed, but she's been amazing in every way. She's so gentle with our children yet protective, but her service days are past. She just lays around now. My next dog is going to be a female brindle boxer. I've always wanted one.
