Got another quick question, would you consider land than had no road frontage? Meaning, it is land locked. Does TN allow for easements to make a drive from the road to your land? TIA -
Purchasing land for a BOL, recreation, and hunting

Thanks for the info so far. I've been in contact with FCS and i'm starting to gather information for them to "pre-qual". -
Anyone here have any experience with purchasing land only? Prices for land are coming down, to the point where we can afford it, and I'm needing any tips or info on going about with the process. I've had a few co-workers tell me to get an agriculture loan, since it's cheaper. The only catch is you need to show income from the land to the USDA annually, according to one person who has done this before. I've found a few parcels of land between 10 and 20 acres (and a couple more than that) that are, or appear to be, within the budget. Primary use for now would be recreation and hunting, with an eye to building a home/cabin in a few years. thanks for any information.

Who elses property taxes/appraisal went up?
kckndrgn replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
A couple of years ago when Memphis did their "blanket evaluations" mine went up. I went to the tax assessors website and filed a dispute. About 2 weeks later I get a notice that the evaluation was wrong and that my new value is LOWER than it was before, so the city is getting LESS tax from me. I think in response to so many people disputing the assessments the city raise the tax rates -
I have a handful of lever guns, they are my favorite. I have 2 Marlin 336's 30-30 rifles. One was my dads, and one was my hunting rifle. a Marlin 1894 in .25-20. This was my Great Grandmothers gun. When my son inherited it, it was non-functioning. So I found some parts on line and sent the barrel off to get re-lined, now it is a "tack driver". Just hard to find ammo for it I have a Puma m92 in .44mag

Welcome to TN. Since you'll have to surrendor your IN ID when you get your TN ID, I'd stop carrying until you get your TN HCP. Looks like all you'll have to pay is the "renewal" fee and do a HCP course to get your handgun carry permit. From: Handgun Carry Permit Application Requirements Applicant must be twenty-one (21), complete a DOS approved handgun safety course, complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application, provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, and pay the applicable renewal fee. (Indiana requires applicant to be eighteen (18) years of age and to be fingerprinted. No handgun safety school required.)

Guess Silvers Price Game - Win a Free Silver Eagle

yeah, I watched the show, and just thought that there had to be a better way, oh well, I'm sure it was all done for the ratings. Not like those two are alone out there doing the show, they have a whole camera crew and prolly a few extras around as well. "look we made it to the coast, but just because we're here doesn't mean there will be a boat anytime soon." "look there's a boat!" I like the fact that they are totally opposite on some survival things, that's the only saving grace to that show, you get two view points instead of one.

See the bold. The gun is chambered for .357. If the gun is chambered for .38spl the .357 case should not fit in it (you won't be able to close the cylinder).
-
Use anything designed for wood. I've had good luck using Murphy's Oil Soap on some stuff. try not to get them too wet will be the key.
-
NO! You can shoot 38's out of a .357 but not the other way around. A .357 shouldn't even fit into a .38

Here's an idea, at least for the adults in your group. In each vehicle have a map of rendezvous points and routes to/from those areas. At least 3 routes to each location. For example "home/work" have 3 routes, already planned and hopefully traveled so you are familiar with them. Have a copy of your routes in each vehicle so all in your group will know where to look for you should they need to. For example, my wife and I work on opposite sides of Shelby county. I have 3 preplanned "emergency' routes home, so does she. In my truck is a folder with maps indicating my routes and maps indicating her routes. Also in this folder is a list of emergency contact names & numbers (both landline & cell). In addition is some "encrypted" bank info, hotel & bank phone numbers and extra cash. The folders in each vehicle are identical, should something change in one, both are updated. We also keep a copy of the folder at home (so that makes 3 copies) since we have in-house daycare. If/When amateur radio is added to our skills that info will be added to these folders as well.

TN permits now recognized in Iowa
kckndrgn replied to Fallguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This is great. I go to MN once or twice a year to visit family. It was great when MN started recognizing TN's permit, but still had to disarm at the IA/MO border, no longer have to do that, hot dog!! Thanks for the link on the legalities of carrying in IA. The only stops we make in IA are usually to get gas then it's back on the road again. -
I've never been to the archery range, just saw it on the map of the campground: http://www.tn.gov/environment/parks/NatchezTrace/pdf/parkmap.pdf
