  1. All I'm going to say is that they're called extremists for a reason. They take a line or two out of their holy book and blow it out of proportion, twist it's meaning, and play on the poverty and desperate situation of many people located in the middle east.   There's been nothing to officially say this guy was an extremist. He certainly wasn't a good Muslim. He was arrested for a DUI, meaning he not only had alcohol, but got drunk on it.   Read it here...   I can understand peoples' anger with a community that has extremists within it, but it's not fair to lump the majority of them who would never harm us in with the few who do.   EDIT: By the way, there are MANY Muslims who fight for our freedom in our armed forces everyday, and I am proud to serve with them.
  2. I'm having a hard time making it out, but did he keep his finger on the trigger through all that too?
  3. I don't think I would carry into a strangers home. I might into someone's home that I've known for a while without asking, even if it were my first time over, but I don't think I would carry in to a person's home that I've yet to meet. That is, unless some sort of circumstance came up to where I could clear it with them first and it not be awkward beforehand. Or perhaps if I knew they were big in to guns I might be able to justify doing it.   If I know I'll be drinking, I'd leave the gun at home. No reason to risk it.
  4. Going off of the pics, I'd want a bit better staking on my rifles. It doesn't look like the metal from the screws is having any contact with the metal of gas key, which is the whole purpose of having it staked.   If you're friends with a local gun smith, I'd see if he'd throw you a bone and do a little work to it for you. It's only a 5 min job or so. or you could just buy a punch and do it yourself. There's a lot of resources out there on how to do it and what it should look like when you're done.   Here's another forum's post that has some examples of good staking (Colt, LMT) and bad staking (RRA, Bushmaster).   http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?6993-bolt-carrier-staking-%28comparison%29   These are samples of one and I'm not saying that RRA and Bushmaster always have bad staking, just that in these pics they do.   Your BCG seems to fall in with the RRAs and Bushmasters in that post. From what I can tell at least.   Hope that helps!
  5.       I have to agree. This seems almost unbelievable to me in a civilian setting. I don't know if I could bring myself to let someone I had only just met shoot past me, much less shoot past them. With my luck, I'd have some crazy malfunction with the gun or the ammo that lands them in the hospital or the ground. That's just too much liability compared to the benefits gained from the drill in my opinion.   I'd be interested to see the video though. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how the drill works and am over reacting.   Good on you, OP, for taking a class though! It sounds like there was some really good stuff you got to learn.
  6. I'm in Georgia technically, but I'm from Knoxville and frequently come home for a weekend, usually once a month.
  7. I'm on a wait list for a 43 through the blue lable program from my LGS.   How do you like the night sights? They aren't coming with factory ones yet, and may not be for a while. So I'll most likely be looking for a good set of aftermarket ones.   Those baseplates are cool! I can't believe I've never seen those before. Good stuff.
  8. I love the SP101. Mine has one of the BEST triggers I've ever dealt with in a firearm. The DA is smoother than a baby's bottom. The gun its self is a little heavy, but that helps make if fun to shoot at the range.   That being said, my EDC is the glock 19. But if I ever have the 19 put away, the ruger comes right out. It also stays by the bed at night.   I do love my snubnose though. It's been a fantastic weapon.
  9. Thanks, everyone. I'm glad to be here.
  10. Well, this is the first full thread I've read since becoming a member, and I must say. I had no clue that there were fluffy cows, much less fluffy chaps.   I hope this isn't setting a trend since my first post outside of the introduction page is also about fluffy cows and chaps...
  11. Just getting started here. I lurked a bit for a while, but finally decided to join the herd.   My name is Josh and I'm a born and raised Knoxville fellow. My dad was Army for a stent and raised me to shoot safely, even if we didn't shoot that often.   Currently I'm active USAF stationed at Ft Gordon in GA, but I frequently come home to Knoxville on leave. I've been getting in to shooting on my own a lot more in the past year, and have even started getting into IDPA, having run my first match this past April up at the ORSA. I'm also looking to get started in 3 gun by August (wife permitting!).   I've got a Glock 19 and a Ruger SP101 at the moment, and I'm waiting on a RRA R3 upper to come in so I can build my first AR.   For the future, if I like 3 gun, I'll likely look into getting a Stoeger m300 as a starter shotgun.   Oh and though I'm currently without it, I'm hoping to have my CWP in the works before August. I’ve neglected getting until now because the carry laws in GA are nice enough to allow many people to interpret us military to fall under the same category as law enforcement and carry without a permit. I just have to remember to disarm myself before crossing any borders.   Cheers! I'm glad to finally be on here.
