Maybe I am alone on this, but I don't buy a gun because of how pretty the gun looks. I look for performance, reliability, and versatility. I don't have much experience with CZ's, but I do like Glocks. I am definitely someone who likes to go against the flow, but Glocks have proven themselves over the years. A lot of good points. In fact, the hospital that I work at currently is posted "WEAPONS PROHIBITED," with a gun and slash through it. However, in accordance to the new written law, they are not properly posted. In my mind, it's justified legally in this case. What's right and wrong morally is a different story I suppose. Strictly my curiosity arising here. I want everyone who is reading this to understand that I am seeking opinions, I am neither agreeing or disagreeing with anyone's stance. I understand it's hard to understand someone's tone when reading, so keep in mind I am being very respectful and only seeking people's views: I often read on the forum that some of the members will not enter a restaurant/business because they are posted. Some refuse to enter a building that doesn't honor their second amendment rights. I am simply here to ask you the question, why? Are you that worried about not having your firearm with you, are you being spiteful, do you feel disrespected? Also, what if the business isn't properly posted? I usually only age my meat up to about a week. In the early season it's harder to do since the temperatures are so high. If you have a walk in cooler it's a lot easier. However, my method is this: let the deer hang, with the hide on for 5-7 days. I prefer the head down, that way the blood is draining away from the best cuts. Contrary to what a lot of people think, it is better for the meet to age with the hide on, it prevents it from drying out. That's really all there is to it. An alternative method when it is warm is to quarter the deer and lay the meat in ice for the same amount of time, changing the ice out to make sure the meat never sits in water [emoji1417] One last thing, the tenderloin are never aged. Mannn, that's a heck of a morning!! I'm the kind of guy that loves to see them as much as I do shoot them. Can't beat seeing that many deer regardless of shots offered. I just finished getting all my meat packaged up a couple days ago, so I haven't been back to the woods in a week, but I'm already itching to get back.

#1 for the season, got her last Sunday evening, just before last light.

UPDATE: So tonight, I screwed up a grand opportunity to harvest my first doe of the year. It was right at dusk, just as I was about to stand up and pack up, I hear some noise that sounded like deer coming my way. I sat back down and sure enough about 5 minutes later, I saw 2 doe walking right towards my stand. At this point, my heart is pumping fast and I am ready to pop her. Unfortunately, the deer started making their way to my right. I am a right handed shooter, so I am trying to decide if i should sit still or stand up as soon as I can. Long story short, I tried to stand up as the big mama does head was behind a tree at 20 yds, but somehow or another she managed to spot me. She began to stomp and blow and I knew it was over! Shortly after she trotted away a little at a time, sometimes double taking because she didn't seem sure what she saw. My question for you guys: When you see deer coming your way a fair distance away (say 50-60 yds), do you stand up then and get ready or do you attempt to shoot from a sitting position? In my case, I couldn't shoot sitting because the deer were moving to my right. The only other way I could have done it was to stand up as soon as I saw the deer, but I feel very exposed standing up in a hang on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
