  1. If anyone cast their own bullets, do you have an average cost per bullet? I'm trying to decide if casting is something I want to get into to save money or if it's even worth getting into. I'd like to hear first hand experience and not the "I get my lead free" exceptions. Can't seem to find an actual cost per bullet anywhere
  2. I think I'm just going to stick to golf for a while
  3. I've loaded CFE and titegroup for my 1911 shooting BBI 230 gr bullets for competiton. Does anyone have recommendations on other powders for competition loads with power factor of 165 to 175?
  4. I'm finally able to come out and play!
  5. I can't walk........ not anymore
  6. wish I could make it.....I'm down for the count for the next 4-6 weeks.......... I'll be lucky to even make the Glock matches
  7. that's kinda what I was thinking, he wanted a shotgun and pistol for the house. theyre not gun people, but there was a triple homicide just a couple minutes from their house in GA. I was thinking two birds with one stone with the judge, but any 38+P is pretty manageable. and can go wrong with a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870
  8. I'm looking at picking one of these two up for my parents.  I was wondering how the recoil is when shooting the 410 shotshells through it. I'm sure I could handle it just fine, I just don't know if this is the best thing for two smaller, older (60's), and inexperienced shooters. any help will be greatly appreciated.
  9. I want a re-shoot! Joe has the matches rigged so I can't place any higher than 10th......... ever
  10. Awesome! That link def helped! I ran 185's for a bit, but ran out of powder pretty quick, and I think I was still loading them too hot
  11. Just some minor stuff, dehorning, serrations top of slide, and new sights
  12. the link didn't help at all.... I'm looking for different loads that people are using, different powders, different weights...... to get a power factor of 170, and still cycle full size 1911, with various recoil and mainhousing springs.....
  13. I'll be using Severns custom, the gunsmith at Lebanon gun shop retired over the summer and even his work was spotty.
  14. Does anyone have recommendations on reloading .45acp for power factor of 165-170? I'm currently shooting CFE pistol with 230gr fmj. Power factor of about 210-220.
  15. Anyone know of a reputable 1911 gunsmith in the mt juliet/Lebanon area?
  16. Has anyone had any experience with this rifle? Looking to pick one up for a ranch/truck/deer rifle.
  17. Thanks for all the advice, after handling numerous 1911's, I went with the S&W performance center full size, I liked the looks the most, and surprisingly the trigger felt more clean, crisp, and lighter than the TRP and DW Specialist. My only complaint is I like a fiber optic front, which is an easy fix
  18. I currently own the Ruger SR1911, I've had several malfunctions with it, the trigger is significantly heavier than the TRP and Smith. I've called Ruger and their customer service was subpar to say the least.  I've changed recoil springs to try to solve at least one of the problems, didn't work. When clearing the gun of a chambered round, always jams between slide and chamber wall. I've tried reloading shorter rounds, still same problem. That's basically why I'm looking for a new 1911.  I own a Springfield RO in 9mm and never had an issue with it.
  19. looking to upgrade to a higher end 1911, I've looked at the TRP, Dan Wesson Specialist, and the S&W performance center 1911.  All three felt great, but I haven't shot any of the three. any help on recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Awesome match last night! We should do something similar for a "Christmas" match!
  21. I've tried 4 types of ammo, hollow points are the ones with the most trouble.  when slide cycles next round, jams on feed ramp and slide. I will try calling Springfield.
  22. Awesome match and weather today!!! Thanks to MCTS and to Chip for making the new shooters in our squad feel welcome and helping them enjoy the match!
  23. I've recently purchased a Springfield 1911 RO in 9mm and have tried 3 different brands of magazines and have issues with feeding on all three.  Any suggestions on what to look at for a fix?
