Like Dave said, that was last year. It just seemed germane to the current discussion as I’m reading a lot of posts that sound like a really wordy way of that succinct statement.
Also, I’m thinking we are going to get universal bg checks before this is done.
Gotcha.
I don't know if he can get behind JUST that kind of law and make them happy. And if so for how many shootings will it carry us to the next law ? As others have mentioned earlier in this thread and others the left wants full stop and appear to hear nothing short of that. All I see is 1 law turning a good % of law abiding citizens into felons whenever they need them to be. Sure glad I don't have kids ....

"I like taking guns away early," Trump said. "Take the guns first, go through due process second."
Was this the latest to fall out of his mouth or tweet Chuck ?

4 killed and 2 injured in Orange County stabbing attacks
AUG. 7, 20199:35 PMFour people are dead and two others injured after a 33-year-old Garden Grove man went on a stabbing spree Wednesday night across Santa Ana and Garden Grove.
Police officers with Garden Grove and Santa Ana police departments arrested the suspect at a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana after spotting his silver Mercedes.
When the man came outside the convenience store, he had a handgun that he had taken from the store’s security guard and a knife.
The man’s name have not been released, and his motive is not currently known.
The crimes apparently started as robberies and evolved into a stabbing spree, according to police. Police on Wednesday evening were trying to get the man to explain what unfolded.
Authorities said the man and all of his victims are Latino. Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said motive appears to be robbery as well as anger and hate. He did not comment further on the reasons for the attack, but authorities say that there is nothing to indicate this was racially motivated.
A Santa Ana police official told the Times that, based on initial information received Wednesday night, authorities believe the suspect was an angry person who took it out on his victims.
The mayhem began Wednesday early evening when authorities say the man first stabbed and killed two men at an apartment complex in the 12100 block of Jentges Avenue in Garden Grove.
He also attempted to rob a bakery and then proceeded to go to an insurance business and stab a woman, who is expected to survive.
Next, about 6:09 p.m., he stabbed a man pumping gas at a Chevron station, almost cutting off the man’s nose. The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
The suspect then proceeded to kill a man at a nearby Subway and then attacked a security guard at a 7-Eleven across the street, stabbing and killing him before he was found and arrested by police.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
And according to the Today show earlier this week anything with 4+ murders is considered a MASS murder so let's all sit back and see if they hammer this down our throats since it was a latino on latino crime with a knife instead of a white guy with a "I Trump" sticker on his ultra right wing vehicle. The report I heard this morning suggested he was brought into custody with both the knife and gun on his person. Maybe he just enjoyed the intimacy of stabbing his fellow people. Or guns scare him, lol.

What do you suggest (That’s reasonable and has a chance of working)? Are one of those Democrats looking good to you?
I believe…(although I could certainly be wrong) background checks for all gun sales will pass. It’s common sense that most Americans want. Whether it will pass muster with the SCOTUS remains to be seen; I have my doubts it will.
I think Trump knows if it is brought to the floor in the Senate it will pass; regardless of what he says or does. So, is trying to try to tie it to a border wall wrong?
I guess I'm one lacking common sense in this area then because IMO a background check is pointless for those seeking to do evil and only complicates things for the rest of us. The one big BIG thing it does do is allow the gubment to track you and i ,average law following citizen, with every firearm transaction from the point it becomes law forward. That gets into my personal business and my private life neither of which they should be privileged to. At that point we become much like Australia where I have to ask permission to go shoot the GD thing. No thanks !

My SHTF rifle is a 308 AR.
However I just heard that there is no need for anyone to have 100 round magazine. So I suspect those same people would not think I need a 308 with 25 rounds.
No one's saying you can't own a 100 round mag. You just can't own the mag AND a gun that it will fit in....or matching ammo...or anything on the back of it that "converts" it from a rifle into a "racist killing machine fully semi matic"

Been think about getting one, but I will probably hold off. I think they make a handy firearm, though!
Actually, I don't think the pistols will go away, but I do think we are about to see a crackdown on braces and drum mags. Those may well go the way of the Dodo bird and the bump stock.
They are indeed handy. They are popular for a reason.
As far as drums I've yet to see the advantage of one over a magazine in any of these shootings aside from the pray and spray Vegas episode.

Only substance in the entire article "banning a particular item will not prevent the next attack "
Also "i" think fast food is a waste of money therefore we need to ban fast food. Who's with me ?

And another one over night: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/at-least-9-dead-16-injured-in-mass-shooting-in-downtown-dayton-police-say/ar-AAFjOhi?ocid=spartandhp
Are these wacko's organizing?
What's to organize ? I didn't tune in to local news until 6 last night but by 7pm I knew what brand of underwear the el Paso shooter liked to wear.
My point is the media helps to feed these maniacs that might be sitting there contemplating doing a similar act.

I wondered the same thing; but it won’t matter to the media.
I also want to hear Trump expand on his brief comment.
Agreed. I feel like they have kept the fires stoked since the day he descended that escalator.
He didn't expand because he doesn't know jack about the subject, which is why he probably moved on once he answered. It would be asinine to believe he stays up to date on every gun law out there and I wouldn't be surprised if when someone told him they are already heavily regulated he would pretend to know that but in reality it would be a surprise.

I see this as a one liner answer from an interviewer attempting, successfully, to get gun owners, a good amount of them Trump supporters, riled up. Has ANYONE been able to confirm it was an actual silencer ? This is like verbal photo shop where you can manipulate anything under the right conditions.

That will never stand; even if a jury agrees (they will probably want to). It’s another political stunt.
If it does stand, arrest and charge the people that don’t allow teachers to defend themselves and their students by banning guns in schools. No question that cost lives.
I started typing my thoughts but Dave done summed it up. I see "liberal message" ALL over this one.

I call MAJOR Bull Sh!t on this whole ordeal and I'm patiently waiting until the book and or movie deal to be announced for the whole thing to unravel and "JUSSIE" right in her face and the smiley that found her.

I consider this a footnote after allowing whatever that was into the women's summer Olympics last time around. And now that 1 has been accepted just sit back and watch for the balls to drop.....

I read it and to me it means I keep what I've always had and nothing changes. Is the new law not for people wanting a lesser permit than what we have now ? (more money, training class, etc)
