The Lt Gov of Texas says older people might be willing to die if it means saving the economy..

And Trump is still struggling to make up his mind. Now he's saying he's going to "reopen" the country soon to save the economy. A week ago this was going to last until August. I'm starting to understand why they call him Donnie Pump.

Continuing to try and compare us to Italy is a mistake. No matter what expert weighs in on it the culture there and in China is not the same as the US in terms of affection. Having used that as a template for what we are in store for in terms of infection I feel was misleading. Of course I could be wrong and 1 million of us die as they keep hammering that on the news.

My point is first he wasnt taking it very serious, then we've went to full SHTF mode, and I'm guessing someone inside his circle is realizing just by the numbers that maybe just MAYBE if we give it 2 weeks and try to start back to work we can have the worst pass us. Also my opinion is the elderly are being used as the pawn "children" in this game. I heard this morning from a reporter somewhere in CA there was a game of pickup basketball filmed from a passing news chopper. To which the reporter said, do they not realize what that can do to the elderly? Lmao. What ?

I'm new to this site but i have tried finding information online and i can't find anything. Recently i have been shooting on my property and my neighbors seem to have a problem with it. I understand his concern because he does have cows around here. However, I am shooting on my own property it is not toward his fields or any houses. I am shooting back into the woods where there is a ridge and plenty of back stops. Is it legal for me to shoot? I am worried he will call the police because of me shooting. Is there anything they could do?

Unless they have passed a new law for the county you can legally discharge provided you are not within city limits. I have several gun buddies that have home ranges. But to make certain go talk to the planning commission or anyone at city hall. My concern would be the neighbor and what if anything can be worked out with him. And I would 2nd the backstop idea without something that can ricochet around.

Maybe, maybe not, but the guy's comment was a slap in the face to Trump.  No president is going to stand there and take a bunch of snark from a smartass reporter, especially the current president.

Peter Alexander has been in the business long enough to know how to bait Trump as many reporters do. Trump has sparred with his fair share over the years. It was bad timing for them both, period. You never saw this when black jesus was on the podium because the powers that be would have made sure you lost press privileges.

As a business owner many times over the years I've had to divulge bad information to employees in steps to control the crash.

Can you imagine if Trump had come out day one and throwed it all out there about what they knew was going to need to happen? You think the run on TP and ammo has been bad.

This is unprecedented territory and there is no playbook. I don't envy any of the people trying to run towns, counties, states or countries. I'll do my best to protect family and friends. I don't expect the government to bail me out or protect me. That's how I was raised.

THIS sums it up for me 10000x over. I don't apologize for the steps and measures I've taken all my life to insure and protect what is mine nor do I say sorry for maintaining a promise and obligation to those that rely on me for protection and standing up for those close to me that cannot.

A friend's wife is an ER nurse. Since they have nothing to do at work these days, they got to thinking. A very nasty version of the crud passed through here in January. Mild fever, cough, congestion, all the usual stuff.  So they convinced themselves they've already had it. Time will tell if they're right or wrong.

I have a good friend in the Crossville area. As I do from time to time I called in a favor and he was bed ridden with something whoopin the bejesus out of him. This was back around Christmas when all love up on family , party, etc. He was passing it off as a bad flu or cold , etc. After this stuff showed up hes convinced this was it.

Can't like the news from FaceBook, but apparently Nashville Mayor John Cooper has elected to follow in the same manner. As I understood it, misdemeanor charges could be leveled against those not following the suggestions and "Staying in Place"

I need a battery for my truck. It will be a "warranty" replacement, but I have to go to Firestone tomorrow to have it done.

    Is that an essential trip?

Will Firestone be open HP ? Do you have an appt ?

For people still on the fence of about the severity of this, CA expects 56% of their entire state to have the virus within the next 8 weeks. It's not the fatality rate, it's the fact that we do not have the resources to take care of that many sick people. The entire state only has 3,700 ICU beds.

I watched him this morning. So the numbers he's claiming amounts to 22.4 million sick people in his state alone. I know they are trying hard to say we are the next Italy but the numbers alone simply don't compute. Once again, I'm not saying people aren't getting sick and this isn't some bad stuff but the comparison to Italy is just trying to cause a panic. And someone help me understand how you would ever be prepared for 22 million sick people in your state ? Yet we keep saying we aren't prepared and hammering at that. I am pretty sure our fellow Tennesseans weren't prepared to have their chit slung for 60 miles but yet here we are.

I’d like to, but I can’t. The President of the United States is standing on that stage surround by top medical people in the country saying this is the real deal. I don’t believe they are all lying, and I doubt any of them, other than the politicians, are driven by politics.

Could this be fake? I think its like those claiming the moon landing was fake. It would require more people acting together and keeping their mouths shut than is possible. Especially when you still have people in this administration desperate to uncover anything this President has done wrong. It would also require that other countries, like Italy, to be involved.

Lying about it ? No. Blowing it way the Fu*k up ? Absolutely! Each day we are getting more and more retarded and people WILL reach a point where they will no longer comply. Like Garufa said, 11:50 pm is the official start of spring and TN folk like to be outside. Its what we do.

No one gonna point out how fast the Republicans have gone from crying about socialism to embracing the same ideas those candidates have suggested? Trump wants to send us all $1,000 checks and wants a nearly $1T stimulus package....

We're looking at $2T deficits soon.

I'm pretty sure I couldn't be sicker about the state of things if I had the GD virus 🙄😷🤮

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I seriously question how likely gold or silver will be as a currency if things collapse.  I honestly think a "Walking Dead" style economy based on bartering supplies and the ability to provide useful services will be more likely.  Gold and silver only have monetary value because we've assigned it to them over the centuries.  You can't eat gold or silver.

Thanks for justifying that large purchase of Girl Scout Cookies I made recently. And here I thought I had a problem.....😆

I really thought Obama had taught us to be self sufficient. If you're not prepared I have no sympathy.

Some of us it did. For others it taught them to suck teet and whine while holding their hand out. We are seeing the results from both play out now.

Wow. Trading halted immediately after opening. Today could be a bloodbath. I don't know as much about fiscal policy as many here but it seems whatever the fed hoped to accomplish yesterday had the opposite impact on the market. The Fed was getting roasted online. They essentially emptied the cannons only 2 weeks into this crisis. What the hell will they do a month from now?

This was my fear from the moment they announced it. I'm not an economics major but my thought on it was they are trying to get ahead of the inevitable recession that's coming due to the "pandemic". MSM won't shut up about it and even Trump has blabbed something about 0% to negative interest rates from the fed. It's hard to watch and listen to this without thinking there's a lot of economic experts out there all of a sudden thats causing people panic on several levels. How do we got get a loan for a house when we've been told to self quarantine for 8 weeks ? LOL

You may jest but I bet someone will be there selling those very things.  People are going to start neckbearding that stuff.

While I was making a funny I am 100% certain preppers will be there thinking this is their time to shine.  I'm sure you've been to 407 flea market once in the last decade @Garufa and saw the piles and piles of out of date store goods under the awning over near the interstate ? I bet that chit will be snapped up today, effective or not, lol.
