  1. Sorry if this a dupe but wanted to get this out there. It's a White House petition to repeal the NFA and this may be our best shot at it for years to come. Please sign. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-nfa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hah. Took it three times. I'm mid thirties and first time it said I was 24, second time it said 41 and third time it said "not sure if you're a human" it was so quick. I'll quit while I'm ahead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. BCM VG-S grip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I used to own a PRO. It's a great optic for the price and really just a great optic period. My only complaint about it is the weight. It's rather large and I prefer the lighter micro red dot sights but that puts you at another price point if you're looking at the major brands like Aimpoint or Trijicon. 5. I'm all good with anyone that wants to upgrade a trigger kit in an AR or any other gun. I wouldn't mind dropping a Geissele SSA in my ARs. My point was more to address the fact that a lot of YouTubers and the like have brainwashed people into thinking mil-spec is some kind of flawed trigger - they're not. They serve their purpose just fine and get the job done. In defensive scenarios, you're not going to be performing crisp trigger resets; you're going to be pissing your pants and mashing the sh*t out of the trigger. For recreational shooting if you got the dough and like the product, by all means, put whatever you like in your guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I agree. Learning how to shoot with any trigger you use is a great skill to have. I have no problem if you want to change a trigger out, but it's definitely not necessary unless you're going for super precision, match shooting etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Came across this on Facebook and thought I'd pass it along. It's a good point of view on training vs. the illusion that expensive or lighter triggers are a necessity. https://sofrep.com/72356/milspec-triggers-suck/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Yeah so I just read the statute and it seems like there must have been an update or amendment sometime after that 2013 AG opinion. http://law.justia.com/codes/tennessee/2015/title-39/chapter-17/part-13/section-39-17-1313 1. The statute seems to state that any vehicle in "lawful possession" of permit holder is fine , sans a government leased vehicle or similar, while the AG opinion seems to make it sound like ANY vehicle not expressly owned would violate the law. 2. The 2013 AG opinion says even if a firearm is briefly observable by person, security camera etc you violate law, while statute in link above says this is NOT a violation by a permit holder. 9. Thanks. I'll take a look at the actual statutes. Looks like the whole things stems from the wording "privately owned". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. So I stumbled onto a site summarizing US handgun laws by state. Through some clicking and reading I stumble upon this opinion by the TN AG: http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/agopinions/TNAGOpinionParkingLotStorageLaw.pdf It seems to be related to parking lot storage on employer property. The part that got me scratching my head was the part on leased vehicles (with regard to question 2 from top of page): Question: 2. Does Chapter 16 apply to a handgun carry permit holder operating a privately-owned motor vehicle that has been leased, rented, or borrowed by the permit holder? 2. Chapter 16 authorizes a handgun carry permit holder to “transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in the permit holder’s privately-owned motor vehicle.” Chapter 16, § 1. The phrase “permit holder’s privately-owned motor vehicle” does not include a vehicle leased, rented, or borrowed by the permit holder. When the language of a statute is clear and unambiguous, the statute is read to convey the plain meaning of the words used. Eastman Chem. Co., 151 S.W.3d at 507. Here, the General Assembly chose to use the possessive adjectival phrase—“permit holder’s”—to describe the privately owned motor vehicles to which the bill applies. Accordingly, the clear import of this wording is that the privately owned vehicle is owned by the permit holder. Had the General Assembly intended the bill to reach to leased, borrowed, or rented cars, it could easily have used different language, such as referring to vehicles in the lawful possession of the permit holder.2 Indeed, the General Assembly knows how to make a statutory provision applicable to both owners and possessors but did not do so in Chapter 16. See, e.g., Tenn. Code Ann. § 12-2-209 (providing for seizure and confiscation of intoxicating beverages “owned or possessed” in violation of liquor laws). See also Amos, 259 S.W.3d at 715. Can someone shed some light on this? Does this mean anyone who has an HCP and leases their primary vehicle cannot transport or store a firearm in that leased vehicle? Or is this truly only in regard to employer property (which would still suck). Guess I'm wondering if people that lease their cars and carry or transport are somehow breaking the law?!?! 11. If I have the funds to spare then I'll spend as much as I need to in order to get the gun I want. $500 or $5000 etc. All depends. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Definitely not holding breath. They promised one last year and never delivered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I wish Comcast would put out a damn 4K set top box. Got all these nice TVs becoming affordable now and content in 4K is becoming more available by the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Sears probably will be done in a couple years. Selling off their assets is more profitable than trying to continue as a business. Don't even remember last time I was in a Sears. I still like Craftsman tools, but I buy them at Ace Hardware, not Sears. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Savage ARs

What a surprise, another manufacturer making an AR. Market will push a lot of these out eventually as there are more AR models out there than consumers can support. Especially now that all the anti gun federal legislation is now unlikely with the Trump win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Like quite a few of you, I am also using Lucas Extreme for lube for the most part. Also like Break Free CLP. For cleaning I like Ballistol or Mil-Comm MC-25 (that stuff is awesome). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Guys thanks for all the responses. I fully recognize that some people for whatever reason don't want to sign a bill of sale. I can appreciate the argument on both sides. You may lose a sale as a seller, and conversely you may lose the opportunity to purchase as a buyer. It's all good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Agreed. I wouldn't want to be surprised either if I was buyer after driving, arranging sale etc and then get forced to sign something I wasn't expecting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I would notify seller that I'd require it before any money changes hands. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks for advice. Does TGO have any boiler plate bills of sale posted? I don't mind traveling to seller if they are local, but given it's an AR I'm looking to sell, afraid someone would have a panic attack if they saw it being handled in parking lot. Handguns probably not as much an issue due to their size. Any way thx again for advice guys. Haven't posted it yet in classifieds, but in meantime if anyone is interested in an HK MR556A1 send me a PM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks for replies. My old state had same deal with PDs if local dept allowed it. Do most sellers require buyer to hold HCP as some measure of assurance that they aren't selling to a nut job or criminal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. What's best practice....meet at a range? Gun shop? Sketchy back alleys? Thinking of selling my MR556 but newish to TN and haven't done a private sale here yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Also, apologies. Just realized there was a dedicated forum for NFA items. Admin, feel free to move this thread if you want.
  24. Hey y'all First, yes I know y'all aren't lawyers so just looking for some opinions. Looking at sending in my Form 1 as an individual, and wondering if anyone has done this recently as I have a few questions. Not looking to go the Trust route as I don't want the added cost. 1. CLEO notice - If I read correctly, CLEO sign off is no longer required - only 'notice' is required by sending them a copy of completed app. Do prints and photos need to be on the CLEO app as well, or are these only needed for ATF copy? 2. Does an individual sign Box 7, if so, what is "title" for Box 8? 3. Bottom of Page 2 - "Signature of Maker"; i assume as an individual that would be myself...? Tried to Google a lot of this, and many attorneys have web pages on how to fill out, but all the ones I've seen are for going the Trust route. I'm not totally opposed the Trust route, but honestly if it's more than $100 or so, I don't really care to bare the added cost since I'm already in it for $200 tax stamp and then about $700 mods to SBR the rifle. Thanks for any info!
  25. This. If you walk down any street in the country with a rifle nowadays, you best expect that the police are going to respond.
