  1. Been thinking of picking up a MK 18 for a while. Probably gonna go with a DD. Wanted to get some opinions from people who currently or formerly own one. They cost some coin obviously and I’m fine with that, but worry novelty would wear off fast. I’d probably set it for home defense and obviously shoot it for fun at range. What are y’alls thoughts on the gun?
  2. Never heard of this before. Been doing it for a long time. Guess his points make sense though.
  3. Not sure if this is a dupe, but wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the District 14 Senate special election taking place TOMORROW. Please get out and vote tomorrow if you are in the district. http://www.grnewsletters.com/archive/tfa/TN-Senate-14-Special-Election-TOMORROW-Vote-Joe-Carr-467341601.html?e=&u=izZc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I am a member at strategic edge. I have no clue what the actual wait list is, but 1-2 years wouldn’t surprise me. It’s easily the best facility I’ve ever been to, and I agree with the earlier poster that the members are great. I don’t recall any out of the ordinary training requirements to join, unless they’ve changed the requirements since I became a member. There is a safety course you have to attend. Using the long rifle range requires you to attend the the long range class they hold at the club. Other than that I don’t think it was anything too burdensome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I can confirm the previous replies. Long range course is free , at least for members, and is required to shoot at the long range section. The other training courses are fee based. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yes, it has about double the bullet drop at 300 yards if you compare it to M193 with a 100 yard zero (which is what the chart above is). But it's still an easy hold over. I was actually shooting 7.62 x 39 at 300 yards with iron sights a couple weeks ago and was able to get consistent hits on a steel ringer. I think the round has a bad rap due to internet rumors that people read and run with. Past 300, yeah I'd much rather use 5.56 if we're talking carbines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. [quote post="1452108" timestamp="150Yes, 7.62x39 starts to suck fast past about 200yds, but who's ever going to need that in a real world scenario here in the US? Well that quote got all messed up, but someone claimed AKs suck past 200. Uh,no they do just fine. :-) https://youtu.be/chiTUvryG5USent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thought this was a good video showing how shooting at the ground can cause rounds to easily clear a berm and leave the range. Proves that bullets don't just burrow into the ground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Just bought a Geissele SSA to swap out the the trigger in my DD. Figured I'd just upgrade rather than send it in for the recent recall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. The committee, 7 members if I recall, killed multiple pro gun bills that would have passed had they made it to the floor for debate and vote. We should ALL be emailing, calling, writing etc. to voice our displeasure and asking for them to recall the bills. For those that live in districts where the committee members are up for reelection, speak at the ballot. It's a shame these bills couldn't even get a vote. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. So says LAV. Sorry, I know what these threads always turn into, but valid points in his arguments. http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=7b1a9382c490b04b227c7c2b9&id=6fa649a4ab&e=852473e203 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Haha! Yeah I saw this. Glad a snow blower is not standard equipment in the south! On the other hand, we've had tornado warnings down here in Middle TN twice in the past 10 days or so. It's the trade off you make I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I moved from MA to Nashville about a year and a half ago. Nashville is definitely growing fast. The skyline is full of construction cranes. I live west of the city, which is more rural than other surrounding areas (as someone mentioned) but it's growing too now as people need somewhere to go. Davidson county schools suck and taxes are high (but still way lower than I was paying in metro Boston). Haven't been out to the east part of the state much but hear it's nice. Stay away from Memphis. Not pretty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah I'm a member at Strategic Edge. It's awesome, I was just hoping to find something to avoid 2+ hours of driving for each range trip!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Hey y'all I live in the Bellevue area and am wondering if anyone knows of any local outdoor ranges to accommodate long range shooting. Looking for something with at least 300yds, preferably more. Only one I see via some Google searches is the Haffner range in Franklin, south of here, and that is 100 yards tops. Are there really no options out this way? I pretty much try to avoid indoor ranges...just don't like the noise and lack of distance obviously. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
